  • For some reason, everyone expects you to have your life perfectly laid out when you're 30 and that's not the reality for most people now. At 30 years old, I decided to quit my six figure law firm job and abandon the plan that society likes to lay out for your life. And with that decision, I've learned some important life lessons... so let's talk about them, starting with lesson 1: you're on nobody's time but your own.

You're not alone, at 30 I went to visit my parents and my dad told me he's so disappointed in me(not married, no stable career, total failure in he's eyes) that he wished he could produce another child to replace me 😄 I made 31 few days ago, I still don't have anything figured out but I'm a believer knowing everyone's timing is different, and all will be well. I will keep following your channel.

I was born when my dad was 33 and recently I turned 33, jokingly I said to him that I was a failure because I don't have kids, a house or a car like he did at my age, hi told me that I have achieved so much more (I have a degree in CS, a stable job, speak 4 languages and I'm finishing my second year in Anthropology). Also he once told me that I have a nice life, I go out with friends, have hobbies that enrich me intellectually as well as relaxing. Everytime I see this type of videos I appreciate even more how my parents raised me and don't judge me.

We are living the same life, I was more depressed and anxious at that job than ever before. I’m 25 and I hear sooo many people in their 30’s that just become wiser and are now figuring out their lives. Society pressures us to have this cookie cutter life from the age of 18 and having to know what career you want, if you’ve met your soul mate, etc.
I also have immigrated parents and definitely feel the pressure of being “successful “ professionally. But the truth is I’ve changed my mind like 3 time in the past 5 years and I’m just trying to figure out life as I go! Awesome video ❤

OMG you sound like me right now. Been at my full time job for 11 months and am starting to not give af anymore. I hate coming home from work after an 8.5 hour Mon-Fri workday and not having any time/energy for my own goals and projects outside of work. I feel bad though because a couple of my co workers put so much effort into training me and getting me acclimated with how they do things. I feel like I'd be kicking them in the face by quitting now.

You’re not alone. I’m 30 and was making over 100K as an executive assistant in the bay area. I recently lost my job, was behind on bills, stressed the hell out.
God recently gave me a job as a security to keep things that float but it’s nowhere near the money I’m used to making. I felt like a failure, especially after watching a lot of my friends successes.
That feeling has thankfully surpassed, although I do have moments of doubt or when I’m just hard on myself.
Ive decided I’m about to enroll in the Air Force, with the hopes of pursuing a nursing career, and eventually a CRNA career.
We have to remember that, although we may be 30 we’re still young …REALLY young. We have our whole lives ahead of us. And everyone’s path to success and happiness is unique and special to them.

You are still young. I got married at 19 and still is. I am 39 years old now and wish I had waited until I was 25 or 30 to do so. Furthermore, I regret getting married young and giving up my life to become a wife to what I learned now to be a Christian narcissist. Likewise, I didn’t know what I was getting into because I was raised sheltered all my life, so wasn’t aware of the dangers. Don’t be bad for not having those things because you accomplished more than many people older than you. Be proud of the blessings you have achieved in your life.

Also I think forgiving ourselves for any any past mistakes or time we think we’ve wasted. Otherwise we will sabotage ourselves. a lot can change in 6 months/1 year when you focus on being present, meditate, read books, exercise, journal, connect with nature communicate with God. Imagine your passion as the core of an orange and every step in your journey your peeling a new layer of the orange until you reach its core.

You could start your own business, or go into the military and fight for your country, or go into a career requiring certification and not a degree such as HVAC or welding or electrical or carpentry or any of the other many trade industries out there in the world. It would be nice to take a break. But I don't want to put myself in a financial position where I am not earning any income. And I do not think it is very smart to exhaust my savings in this current economy. Joining the new company wasn't difficult. My new role allows me to work on a variety of different projects whereas my previous role was on focused around one task and very mundane. Another thing I will say is that in my previous role my manager was a female and she would always give us extra work and she would suggest that we work from 7am to 7pm even though it was a salaried position... My new manager is a male. He has been very flexible and accommodating. He allows me to work from 9:30/10am to 4:30pm. @@barneyy6942

Hi girl, I am 24 years old and in the beginning of october, I moved to Chicago from SD for my 100,00+ job. (same job, but travel work in Chicago). Long story short, I realized I was NOT happy. It was contract work, yes it was good money but the position I had in SD was only 60 hrs a week compared to 84 in Chi. I betrayed my health and hapiness for a job far away from my friends and family, and it took its toll on me. So I just quit. Bought a flight back home, came back to the room in house I was still paying rent for, and have been unemployed. But, there is always the rainbow after the storm. You will figure it out, and I believe we will be okay. I took this time to deep dive into myself, realized I wanted to switch careers, and now attending school full time. I wont make 6 figs for a while out into the future because of school, but thats okay. I am happy and feeling better, sometimes it takes events in life such as losing your current life as you know it to find yourself and grounding again. Sending good vibes and a hug, everything will be okay, and do what makes YOU happy!

I'm in front of such a decision as well. At 35, I'm thinking of quitting my job by mid 2024 and going on a 3-month, unadulterated "discovery trip" to find myself. Something that I don't think I've ever been given the chance to since my early 20's. I've been grinding for student loans (which I've paid off recently) and am making 6-figures... but now, for what am I doing this grind for exactly?
I don't think I've convinced myself of this plan of attack yet. About 8 months more to figure it out. But if nothing else, I definitely am hearing God's knocking loud and clear.

I was getting so sick all the time, crazy headaches, anxiety attacks, not wanting to do anything after work, fell off building my community and side hustles because I never had any energy. I was always irritable and mean to loved ones, I just wasn't myself and I hated how much I left this job take over my wellbeing. I decided in July 2022 that I know I couldn't stay and by June 2023 I had given my notice. It wasn't easy and I missed the steady paycheque but no job is ever worth your peace and overall wellbeing! Congrats to you and I hope we both can find better, more aligned opportunities!!!

Videos like yours are so important. I have had conversations like this since the beginning of the Covid lockdown, I knew that some people were going to reflect on the type of work they do and the life they lead. For me, as an immigrant, I feel like the work culture in the US is toxic so I managed to find ways early on in my career to have my own healthy balance (I'm a licensed social worker) such as taking my sick days for rest/self-care, always taking my vacation days, taking unpaid days if I feel not in the mood and also quitting any role that may not be good for me. I just gave myself three months of a sabbatical as I needed it so I applaud you for choosing You over a Job. You're young, you'll figure it out. My own advice to anyone reading this: Live within your means, save as much as you and go out there and Live!

That's how I felt when I became a corporate trainer. The role literally fell into my lap and at first I appreciated the challenge - created a curriculum/presentation from scratch, had to adjust to rapid/sudden changes and educate on them, had to be "ON" for the full shift while facilitating training with no assistant. Whenever I got off, I was depleted.. THEN it didn't help that I was going through relationship issues so things got depressive for me and I still had to wear a mask bc Training must go on. I left back in May and working at a job that doesn't pay half as much but so much at peace mentally.

As a Puerto Rican and USA citizens, the people of Puerto Rico can move throughout the 50 states just as any other Americans can-legally, this is considered internal migration, not immigration. I am sure you want/wanted a different life too. It's not our fault the job environment in the US and the current issues for the workforce is happening, we are not stronger than the economy lol

Your video gave me a sign. - I think this is my SIGN. I’m not usually on RUclips & lo & behold your video is the first one on my page. I’ve been battling with the thought of quitting my own 6 figure job (not for necessarily for RUclips) bc of the exact reason you said ! Being over worked! Over whelmed ! Depressed! And just dreading every day to get up and keep going. When I know deep down that this isn’t for me and I have so much more to offer & I’m only stopping my growth bc of my immigrant family history, my child, my home & my husband . I have a story to tell! And God has been working through me with that. And he spoke to me through your video! Thank you so much for sharing. This week is my last week:) not going to lie I’m super scared. I don’t usually comment, but I just wanted to say how grateful I am to have just stumbled across your video. I’m a college student turning 20 in two days, and thinking about that has stressed me out so much over the last year. In my head, turning 20 meant that I have to be a “real” adult and have everything figured out. Seeing my cousins getting married young and beginning promising careers doesn’t help. I feel like I’m falling behind because I don’t really know what I want. But hearing you talk about your experiences and reading about the paths of so many others in the comments reminded me that there is no “one size fits all” format for life. We’re all figuring things out as we go, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Wow… it felt like you were directly speaking with me. I withdrew from my graduate program in September and felt this feeling of grief and loss. I spent most of my 20s doing academics and trying to make my mom proud because she gave me the entire world with what little she had. Now here I am working at a job that sucks my soul out of me everyday. I literally feel the exact same way you did, the dread, the devastation, the not looking forward to coming back.
But since leaving the program, I’ve learned that life isn’t all about school and trying to make others happy. It’s not about trying to have the best salary or trying to be the best employee when you know you can be replaced in a heartbeat.
I am scared of my leap of faith, but deep down in my spirit, something is telling me to leave this job. To go forward and to do the next best thing. My hope right now is to get into a CNA program next year. The end goal is to become a travel RN and go all around the US (and eventually world) and just live the life I’ve been wanting to live.
Thank you for this great video. I hope you continue to thrive and glow on this beautiful journey we call life 💕

I hate all these red pill podcasts always shitting on 30-year-old women when I think 30 is probably the best age to even get married and really double down on what it is you want out of life. Growing and maturing is such a beautiful thing...and I'm glad you are feeling more comfortable with yourself despite where you are in life vs whatever the comparison is. God bless you girl and I hope God continues to lift you up and you receive everything good from the one above. Thank you for sharing this video! If your happyness depend on extern factors you will never be because extern factors are endless.

    No
    I will say 30
I’m 24 I kept quitting my job because of the workers environment and more pay is out here
    Lesson
If you make 6 figures and you quit at the age of 30
And you don’t have a functioning business
    Or other flow of income
    Your developing an illness
Peace and sanction is what I’m being taught
And rising and feeling above in that god is with me sense or the grasp of this is life and this is what I’m doing no stress
    Stay at your job
    Time balance
    Life balance
Don’t do that to your self please
How to teach your self to be grateful and unmiserable
Getting creative is the best place to brainstorm at work
    Society is functioning in utopia
    It’s not a problem
It’s simply find your balance we all need each other
But your making 6figures in a dire economy
    Your sad
    Better friends
    Planning your life
    Vacations
    You have it very ease
    Are you Ill
Leave if it’s toxic ,? YES!!’
