Oh JeriDro thank you! My fiance is always saying she wants to quit a high level marketing job at Nvidia. I'm like, just to let you know what You're going to be dealing with...
Omg! Yes! My last job last year ended and I was looking before the job closed and i did and I only applied to two jobs and the last year and one didn’t reply back or I got an interview and didn’t get the job. Now am I financially stable? yes because I do get disability benefits. Plus I would be looking for a part time anyways because I don’t want to lose my benefits just in case. Plus I had bad experiences at my last job so that’s probably a factor why I am not actively looking. I am more happy unemployed then I was employed.
There are SO MANY fake job listings right now - and there are so many repeat job listings. Positions posted by the company, and then reposted by temp agencies trying to fill those roles. I've been searching since Sept 2023 (layoff) and its been rough and every day I have to give myself similar pep talks. This video is extremely well-timed, thank you.
I’ve noticed the same here in Ireland. Same jobs posted over and over. Wasted my time over weeks prepping for hours for 5 rounds of interviews. 2 rounds were business cases. By the 5th one I was exhausted. Glad I was rejected. Rather than being disappointed I am now glad about every rejection, always feels like I dodged a bullet.
@@jeannierobertson1210 Oh no I'm so sorry - I've been reading how that's happening a lot more frequently now. Keep pushing forward, things are bound to get better. I am still searching but actively interviewing. For me, interviews and calls have definitely picked up.
i left go in Aug 23, i have been searching for a while, i found two pheno. 1. fake job posting 2. video interview spang 4 - 6 weeks is extremely stressful, you have to prepare and wait and accumulate stress , any one of them think you are too old, you are done.
I lost my executive job end of 2022...As of today I'm 110 applications done, 3 interviews, 1 unacceptable offer. Ran into many junk jobs, scams, and sales pitches for career courses on some of these applications done. I'm 50, so its even harder for us as we're looked at as "untrainable" or over qualified. We had to sell our home and now live in an RV. Just know GenX like me some of us are hurting too, it's not all Millennials and Gen Z. This isn't my first experience of this, I was laid off in 2008, and now going through it all over again. After all these years I am finding most careers and corporate life and its fickle culture unfulfilling. It seems I have always been sacrificing for someone else to benefit, now I feel like it needs to be my turn.
Fellow gen x here. Had an amazing career in Finance and was lucky to survive 2008. I took a break after I had my daughter. I still worked (for free) helping out my husband’s family‘s business and now juggle two freelance jobs (barely- adding up to anything). Despite 15 years of work experience, I have only gotten entry level interviews paying little over the minimum wage. After 3-5 rounds of interviews, successful assessments and case studies I’ve never received an offer since I started trying last year. Also, with minimum wage and my two side jobs I still can’t afford rent in Dublin. I’ve been considering an RV, too. All the best to you!
I am in my 40's, have been layed off 5 times in my career so far. The crazy thing is that this time is much much much difficult to find a job that matches my level or even lower level. 1. too much fake job posting 2. the video interview span for 4-6 weeks too long and really stressful , anyone think i am old (40) will say no and no result.
First off, let's debunk the myth that being jobless means lazing around in pajamas until noon. Sure, there might be a Netflix binge or two (because who can resist a good series?), but most folks I know hit the ground running. It's not just about browsing job boards anymore; it's about crafting the perfect resume, tailoring cover letters, and practicing for interviews like you're prepping for the Super Bowl halftime show. And let's talk about time management-it becomes this delicate dance between applying for jobs, networking like a pro, and maybe squeezing in a shower somewhere (because first impressions still count, right?). There's this constant juggle between staying motivated and not burning out. It's a full-time gig with overtime potential, minus the paycheck. Plus, the emotional rollercoaster is real. One day you're high-fiving yourself for acing an interview, and the next you're hitting "refresh" on your inbox, hoping for a response that never comes. Rejection letters become a twisted form of email sport-how many can you collect in a week? And let's not forget the unsolicited advice from well-meaning friends and family. "Have you tried LinkedIn?" Yes, Karen, I've tried LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, carrier pigeons-any method short of smoke signals. It's a jungle out there. Now, don't get me wrong; there are moments of hope and even humor amidst the chaos. You discover hidden talents like negotiating with bill collectors or turning leftover spaghetti into five-star cuisine. And every rejection letter is a badge of resilience, reminding you that you're one step closer to that dream job. But here's the kicker: to sustain this hustle, you need the financial fortitude of a champion. Savings aren't just for rainy days; they're for thunderstorms, hurricanes, and the occasional economic downturn. Because let's face it, job hunting without a safety net is like tightrope walking without a safety harness-possible, but nerve-wracking. So, the next time someone asks what you're up to and you say "job hunting," don't let them brush it off as a leisurely pastime. It's a full-blown adventure, complete with highs, lows, and the occasional cliffhanger. And if you're doing it with grace and determination, pat yourself on the back-you're already winning.
Described it better than I ever could. One can't possibly understand this unless they've experienced it themselves. It's easy to judge others for bearing the 'unemployed' label and blame them for the position they're in but the truth is that I highly doubt a great deal of unemployed individuals did anything to deserve this safe for existing in a system that treats humans like another commodity to either keep or discard. The emotional weight of all of this is tormenting. Every action, every step forward feels futile. It's like a big test of one's self identity, confidence, skills and distress tolerance. I wish everyone good luck and a great life. You are not your job or what you earn, there is beauty in everything.
Through this journey of unemployment, I've become closer to God. Life is so unpredictable and I know now that I can't control what happens because of the job market. Thanks for making this video. I'll keep searching for a job but I cant be fearful anymore, I've been working since I was 16 and never had an issue finding a job so this has been very uncomfortable. Good luck everyone looking for a job.
Same! I have always loved spending time with God but nowadays that’s all I ever do. We live in a society that forces us to honor God every chance we get and lean on the divine for support.
HI KAYLA, THAT'S THE RIGHT ATTITUDE, WE CANNOT CONTROL THINGS SO THERE'S NO REASON TO BE FEARFUL OF BEING UNEMPLOYED. I UNDERSTAND THIS NOW, BEING UNEMPLOYED FOR THE FIRST TIME AND I'M 53. BEEN SEARCHING FOR WORK SINCE DECEMBER BUT UNEMPLOYED FOR 8 MONTHS NOW, I THINK AGE IS A FACTOR. IN 3 HOURS I'LL HAVE A PANEL INTERVIEW AND EXAM, MY 4TH FOR THE YEAR, BUT I LEARNED TO JUST NOT PUT A HIGH EXPECTATION AND JUST GO WITH THE FLOW. IF THEY LIKE ME, THEY WILL HIRE ME, IF NOT, THEN LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE, JUST MOVE ON...
Yeah! It's called 'Shinrin(forest) yoku(bathing)' in Japanese. We believe that forest bathing is like a kind of aromatheray, which purifies us both physically and mentally😊
when times are hard, and the longer you are on the job market, you will certainly feel desperate to get any job. I did the same, I was impatient and accepted a job I thought would be easy bc I just wanted to be employed. But only THREE days into the job I realised what a completely wrong fit it was and I knew I'd be miserable if I kept up with it. I had to quit and then it was back in the unemployment arena. It's been almost 9 months but I'm def more picky and want to get a job that won't mentally wreck me. I'm one of the lucky ones that I can wait and be unemployed for a longer period, but if you're in a tight spot and need any job, I hope that you find something good!
I totally relate to this! I took a job that seemed great on paper, but definitely had red flags that I brushed off. I was soo desperate to get out of my unemployment hole, but long story short, the job was not a fit and took a huge toll on my mental (and even physical) health. It's scary to take a risk to leave a job considering not only this terrible job market, but also starting over again in your search. BUT because of that experience, I am too being picky/selective and extremely cautious of red flags! I'm now protective over my mental health and work-life balance, as everyone should be. I'm so proud of you prioritizing yourself and wellbeing! Thank you for sharing your experience and sending love your way!
jep same... but I stayed for 6 month until they kicked me due to financial reasons. I don't know why I stayed so long... it didn't even give me relevant work experience. I had zero energy to look for jobs....
I did that also, unemployment ran out after a contract job ended and I was desperate, so I accepted a customer service position. I applied for an accounting position and a recruiter reached out and asked if would interview for customer service in the same company, 100% remote, and I could apply for other positions after six months. I knew it would be longer than six months but that was fine, so I accepted the position. Now two years later I find out that customer service management doesn’t let their employees move to other departments, and will do anything to keep them, including sabotaging them by bad mouthing them, and placing them into ‘performance management.’ Being remote I didn’t know about this, I saw reviews on Indeed and Glassdoor from employees who had experienced it. I’ve never seen this before, I’m over it all, done with the drama, so I decided to retire next year and am counting down! I’ll be preparing all year so I’m ready.
@@Lulusvideos1 That sabotaging to keep you from moving jobs is illegal. Get yourself some paperwork and evidence and keep trying to get out. Lawyer up if you must.
I graduated last December and still haven't been able to get my foot through the door. Thankfully, I have a support system to where I dont have to immediately find just anything, but it is just extremely discouraging not being able to start living the life I want to live and the constant anxiety of the longer I'm unemployed the harder it will be to find something. Not to mention comparing myself to friends who are doing better. I am of course so happy for them and proud, but I also can't help but feel left behind. Just the other day I had a huge breakdown home alone because I'm on month 4 and just feel helpless. This video was very peaceful. Though our situations aren't exactly same, it was still very relatable 🩷. Thank you 💕✨️!
I've been there! It's scary to feel left behind or even starting over in your career. But your time will come! I'm 100% sure of it. There's soo much self discovery and lessons to be learned during a job search/unemployment. This time is perfect to reflect on what makes you you, and what brings you joy, career aside. And as someone who struggles with imposter syndrome, one of my favorite quotes is "comparison is the thief of joy". Keep focusing on and appreciating YOU. I'm rooting for you
If I interviewed you fresh out of college, I would not hire you. College makes people w0k3-washed. You've been freshly mentally militarized to be radical, combative, and non-compliant. There is no way I would want a college grad on my team.
I got fired in September 2022 from a 7 year banking career. At this point I had been studying computer science part time at a local institute of technology for almost 2 years. So I doubled up on the course load and amassed a tremendous amount of knowledge. I also worked out every morning, ate healthy, and blocked off time during the day to apply for jobs. Completing multiple CS programs built up my confidence because I obtained new software development skills and knowledge, even if I was unemployed. The software developer job market right now is hard, but objectively speaking, I am more valuable than I was before because I now have more tradeable and marketable hard and soft skills.
I'll admit, my depression has gotten so horrible because of this. I was fired from my last job for no reason. I ended up having to work at Target to make ends meet. I HAVE found a positive though: Taking time to make healthy meals and exercise daily.
These are really good reminders during my current job search. I find myself checking my email and job boards all day but it just causes more stress and doesn’t move the needle forward.
I swear just five minutes ago i was sobbing because I am not getting any luck with finding a job and still living with my parents with zero to show in my name.
I spent the day crying due to a rejection and watching this makes me want to cry some more. Thank you so much for the words of encouragement. We totally got this💪🏾
Lol, the mommy bear 🐻 in me needed to tell you that. You are intelligent, kind, and skillful. This too shall pass, and maybe , just maybe we're seeing a Boss in the making, business goals. Turn your hobbies and hustle into your own business. You got this, sis. Stay pray up and bless up. ❤
Why does this video make you cry? If anything it's encouraging and refreshing. Hang in there. My 22 yrs old daughter is in this position. She's struggling and it's hearbreaking to see.
The hard part is comparing yourself to others and being judged negatively, that’s the hard part, how do you handle that part? It’s not the money or waiting in the unemployment line, that’s the easy part but it’s comparing yourself to others your age that are doing well.
I felt this comment. I see others my age doing so much better than me. Meanwhile I just stay home all day to save money of what’s left in my savings and been applying for any jobs because I need to support my family on the bills. I see my friends or family members traveling, getting married, getting new house, etc. It’s really hard sometimes. I really want to go back to college but I need to save up first…
I think this is where you tap into your spirituality. There must be something you believe in(?)Some digging deep and remembering some of the motivational lines you've heard or know. So for example: I'm on a different trajectory than those my age doing so well. My turn will come. I don't know all the challenges in their lives..loads! Then seeing this period as the lull in your life. 'This too shall pass' is a good one.
same :') i've been feeling this way, seeing people my age (but not rly my friends) getting my dream jobs and friends who afford to do their masters getting accepted into their universities. also the worst part might not be even others judging you but you having high expectations towards urself. many people are like "just get any job to earn money" but i actually want to enjoy what i do for most of my week + have some good career, rather than work for a no-name company with unsure future past that job. and this is also bc i had to leave a job that i truly liked due to visa issues
I struggle with this still, but it always helped a bit to know that your time will come and if you keep your head up, keep putting in the time to apply for jobs, you'll get there. Other than that, you can't control how others see you, so the only thing you can do is to focus on yourself and get your bag, you don't have time to waste on others who don't believe in you.
i've been laid off since last october and it's really taken a toll on me. it was my second layoff last year, too. thankfully, my partner is able to support me (financially) but mentally, it's been very challenging to navigate. thank you for your transparency and sharing your experience! it definitely makes me feel not as alone.
I am so sorry to hear this.. I have been impacted by layoffs 3 times in my career .. it is never easy. Wishing you the best and hope you find the right job and good people to work with
Thank you! I was laid the previous month and I started worrying about the future. Your video is just what I needed to make me see things in a different perspective and trust the process. ❤
Wish you the best luck! What worked for me was working half time on job search and portfolio. Half time creating the work I wanted like: make your own web site, share what you like in a blog like movie reviews or conversations with friends, photography whatever you really like. And write down bad emotions on a specific time. 11am is usually a good time, never at night or close to sleep time.
Was in dire need for this pep talk. Somedays I just don't even feel like applying or studying at all. Was going through one of those unstructured days. Much thanks! ❤
Career shifting from Hotel and Restaurant Management to studying my Master in IT has been a challenging part. What’s worse: I can’t land a job without graduating first. I’m already turning 34, but there’s way too much competition in the IT market.
Me neither! I am 24 and going to be graduating with my bachelors in marketing, and I am in my last year. What is worse is that I cant even get an entry level marketing job paying $15-20 an hour (so low) without my degree. I cant even get an internship either, it is so competitive where I live!
I know it can be tough... I am sorry you're experiencing this. One thing, depending where and how you're applying, is that sometimes recruiters will use a screening tool before they look at resumes... if you REALLY like a job you're applying for, take the extra time to edit your resume to include words in the job posting/description. Often, it helps get your resume seen and short listed. Good luck!!!
Keep your head up queen. I am going through the same exact thing but in cybersecurity. I was questioning everything including whether my resume was good enough but in the past 2 weeks I got 5 interviews to prepare for. I am glad I had a stoic mentality to embrace change and keep an optimistic mindset. This is just a learning lesson to make you a better person ;)
Thank you so much for this video. Everything you said really hit home. I was laid off unexpectedly in November and i experienced all those emotions and you’re right each day is different and you can go from one to the other within the same day. It’s been difficult at my age twice yours, to find a real job. And also encountered fake jobs. The hardest part is waiting to hear back after interviews. I will try to take your advice, today was a hard day for me so thank you for your words.
I greatly appreciate your positive affirmations in this video. The job market is treacherous at the moment but its important to remain present and take it a day at a time. I also heavily agree about using this time to read books you've been putting off and develop new skills. You never know where they can take you and are fantastic talking points on a resume
Absolutely. Taking things day-by-day is the only way i've maintained my sanity. Looking too far ahead or stressing about the past does more harm than good during unemployment. Showing up and being present daily is the best we can do. Thank you for your comment!
Such a helpful video. The job market right now is so bad. I'm in Toronto, Canada, and have been looking to find a job for months with very little luck. I remember just a few years ago (when I had even less experience), it was SO much easier, or you could at least actually get interviews back then!! It's crickets right now. Yes I do hope there's a shift soon, although on the bright side, with the time being unemployed it 's helped me begin a new side hustle and I'm so grateful for it, because now it's actually starting to pay off (and cover my rent). There really are so many lessons to be learnt being unemployed. Subbed :)
Absolute crickets on my end too! Sometimes it feels like your application goes into a black hole, without getting any updates, interviews, or even rejections. This market is tough! But that's AMAZING that you found your side hustle!!! How inspiring -- keep going and learning, and i'll be rooting for you

Toronto's job market is in dire straights right now, unemployment 7.2% and climbing. Most job postings are fake, and many lower level positions are going to the hordes of "new immigrants" being brought in. I wish you the best of luck.
When I’m working class and barely any savings. I’ve been urgently looking for a job due to bills. The only good thing is I’m with my family but even my family don’t make much either. I feel like not panicking means it’s a privilege, you may have plenty of savings and it’s easy to take the mind off of things. I help my family out and I want to make sure I have a job to support my family out. I did try to keep myself distracted by learning to code or watching tutorials.
Thank you for this video. I have bad anxiety about my job search after leaving a job that had a toxic work environment. Your advice is very calming and reassuring.
I'm 30 and also on the same boat, except that this is my first time being unemployed. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions and tbh family and society pressure is a very real thing.. I just happen to be trying the tips in ur video (thank u btw for this), and hopefully tides will turn.
Sometimes I feel a little guilty about working two kushy jobs. I'm grateful that i'm overemployed! Just keep at it and even when you do land that job, always have a backup plan and remember your network is your money.
It's gotten harder for me over time. After almost ten years of working a bunch of different corporate jobs, I'm still struggling to find something that I can feel proud of, or bring me some meaning. And as I get older, the opportunity set for my future feels like it's getting narrower and narrower--and I don't know if I'll ever feel better.
I feel you! It's hard not to be hard on yourself when it feels like it's your fault, I've applied to over 70 jobs, only got a callback from 3 and just 1 interview, that I had today and I passed the next round! I feel so grateful becaus I have learned so much during the months that I've been out of a job and in all honestly I kinda needed the break, one of the hardest parts is to not feel guilty because I was relieved(? like huh that's weird, but honestly I'm excited because this position is a substancial salary increase for me and I have weeded out of offers that are not as good solely because I'm desperate. Also I'm fortunate enough that I can live with my parents because heaven knows what would be of me if not, fortunately latino parents always want you in their house so it's not expected to move, so I can actually save up if (when) I get this new job and create financial security for myself, so I am grateful.
Spending time alone is a huge thing. I’m 31 n just got my Masters degree but just getting by with a sucky job I recently took that’s desperate 4 ppl and a revolving door. Working out is the best thing and just taking time away to listen to music or enjoy nature on nature trails with no interruptions.
Thank you so much for your video. I am unemployed for the first time in years. I have been feeling extremely discouraged, and like a failure. I just watched your video, and you gave me hope. So, thank you for your tips and helpful advice, and your positivity! Appreciate you! :)
this video brought me so much comfort as someone who got laid off a few months ago❤ I've been getting desperate to take any job at this point, and its infuriating how I've been ghosted, rejected, and a few times got an offer thats "unpaid", as someone who has had 4+ years of specialized experience in tech, I thought it wouldn't be so hard but it has been. since my situation at home isn't great, I'm just being so hard on myself, that I CRY everyday, this video came on my feed after I literally had a headache from crying so much, I just want to live on my own and have a job but its been hard to say the least, but watching this video I felt a sigh of relief, this was really validating and something I needed today so thank you, and good luck for all of us job searching, I hope whatever is best aligns soon ❤
Thank you for this video. We're on this journey together (also 30). I'm in a similar situation where I have also had unemployment periods and I feel embarrassed to have a Linkedin, as well as connecting with people. IDK how to put myself out there when I'm embarassed. It just feels like I'm expected to have a perfect resume and perfect job history.
Networking is still something i'm struggling with! At times it can feel transactional, or feel like you're groveling. But I've also realized that being unemployed is waaaay more common, and more times than not, people in your network have been there before. Hang in there and give yourself a pat on the back! We're in this together
@@mohamedhasan318 Thank you Mohamed! It's harder when your in your "30s" and feel like you're supposed to "be" somebody by now to enjoy life but life is to enjoyed anyways. That's probably one of the meanings of life to be happy anyways.
Hey there thanks for posting the video. it totally cheer me up. I just got laid off a couple days ago. A lot of thoughts and emotions are going through my head, but I like your attitude of taking care of yourself. Life does always have a way of working out. This could be a great opportunity.
This is so relatable... The waves of emotions, the imposter syndrome and identity questioning. Thank you for posting, you've helped a lot of people struggling with the same feelings. ❤
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and food of thoughts. It's hard to navigate the unemployed phase even when I quit the job willingly. Your video really reminded me how important it is not to tie my worth/self-esteem/ identity with my job title/ company. Sending you love and hope you're having a great day while reading this comment ;)
I quit my previous job willingly (for many reasons), which was absolutely terrifying knowing how rough the job market was. But putting yourself first will always be the right decision, even if it comes with challenges. I'm so happy this video resonated with you and thank you for the kind words
Thank you🥲 I never cried so hard on a RUclips video ever. I been with a grocery store for three years, making money, and work full-time til I was fired because the people made me uncomfortable at my job. I always prayed everyday to find my dream job. I subscribed to your channel. You're a blessing 🥹
I’m retiring next year at 62, my work life has been a journey, I was with a company for 17 years, began entry level moved up over the years, got my Business degree and Project Management certified, then I was laid off. Talk about losing your identity, I felt so lost and undecided on what to do, and where to go. I worked a few jobs, meanwhile my old company called me back as contract, worked that for two years and saw my company had become a shell of what it once was. So many people were laid off or had quit. The corporate world has changed so much, for the worst, glad I’ll be putting it behind me. Good video.
LUCKY YOU THAT YOU CAN RETIRE NOW, I STILL HAVE AT LEAST 5 YEARS BEFORE I RETIRE, SO I MUST STILL WORK. 8 MONTHS IN AND BEING JOBLESS IS HARD, BUT MY BIGGEST WORRY IS BEING TOO COMFORTABLE WITH THIS LIFESTYLE AND THE MOTIVATION TO WORK IN AN OFFICE SETTING AGAIN IS GRADUALLY DIMINISHING
I’ve been unemployed for almost a year now, turning 40 makes it even worse…I felt relieved at first because I was able to get away from terrible managers and leaderships, but now…I feel lost and doubt my ability. So far, I’ve only got one phone screen and that was it…the feeling feels terrible…don’t know how to move forward…
This video came to me at the exact moment I absolutely needed it. Been unemployed since January 2024 and it has been rough since I did a career change but these places are not hiring. Thank you fir the helpful tips❤
Have hope guys. I was in the same position a few months ago. Took me 3 months to find something..got fired after two weeks and found a job I really like in the field I was trying to get to. You have to stay strong positive and always ask for feedback so you can improve on whatever it is that kept you from getting it. It’s rough out there but folks are still winning
This is very helpful and to know I'm not alone feeling like this. This is my first time being unemployed. I am currently going through this journey as well and trying my best to be positive. So thank you for this! (:
Since youtube has been showing me unemployment algorithms 😮💨😭ima comment on this. Im 22M(turning 23 this sep)im about to be 2 months unemployed the end of august ive applied to more than 50 jobs ,my resume isnt the best due to my "years of experience",ive tried lying on it aswell but they always tell me that they (overlooked my application and moving on)only job that reached back out to me was a gym near my neighborhood .i take my chances when they are there TRUST ME.anyway im still living at my parents and im at rock bottom at the moment. Like she said "No job defines who are"the time you spend alone really shows your healthy side or your "pov" on the other hand i stay active on my hobbies i go to gym ,take a jog with my dog ,go out with my friends or just practice on drums or boxing.i totally dont see myself ever getting married with a wife and kids maybe im the one that ends the bloodline who knows but One thing for sure is that God is real and all of our lives matter in this world.the Video was great !earned a new suscriber
Great tips - we’re in the SAME spot, just like thousands of others. It’s really hard to stay positive, so I appreciate the encouragement and acknowledgement that this job market is TRASH!! No to the ppl saying “work at McDonald’s”, obviously entry level jobs are always available - I’m talking the high paying jobs that I got my degree for! I’m sure it’ll even out one day
Thank you for this. It’s been two and a half months since I was laid off. So many other videos leave me filled with angst. Yours makes me feel inspired.
You're very mature for your age. I'm 54. You'll be ok. Life is always a struggle and I'm still facing it. Always will... But as you said. It'll be ok, always if you don't give up.
Thank you for making this video, really needed this advice cause my life seems pretty bleak at the moment. But this gives me hope that this is just a phase and I should take care of myself in the mean time.
Thank you so much for making this video, was out of hope lately. But just finding this video out there made me realise, there are lot of people out there going through the similar situations and maybe even worse. ❤
Going on month 4 of being unemployment and I have never been in a more unstable situation, mental health at an all time low and no matter what I’ve tried there just seem to be no way out although have been going above and beyond to get even just a zero hour job to be able to pay the bills…and I’m so tired. But watching this made me feel a little bit less alone and actually motivated to look after myself more. Especially detaching my worth from my job situation is soo important. 🙏
I hope you found something. This is my current situation. I was feeling so low today. I have bills due in a few days and not sure how they will get paid. But i will remain hopeful.
i quit my toxic job in september and am still looking for a job. we’re coming into holiday season and winter so i’m getting nervous i might be unemployed until the new year. i thought it would be easier to get a job in a month or two, but it’s so hard to keep myself motivated to send in applications. luckily i have a safety net, but what i was trying to spin as a change of career is now looking like several months of job searching lol. best of luck to everyone in these comments, we’ll get the right job eventually ❤
(9:00) '...eventually, something is going to shift.' This time around, that shift won't come without working people waking up to our shared interests and rising up against a system that's designed to pit us against one another while it uses us until we become expendable.
I'm also on my third time being unemployed and I'm also 30. I have found this time around to be much harder than previous times and that is with getting more job interviews than ever before. I am fully aware that getting 1st or 2nd job interviews is better than others who are getting ignored. But it is also harder because you get more hope that this will be the one that likes you and you can start earning again. I've been unemployed for 7 months now, and if I hadn't done any job applications and just focused on learning new skills (work or hobbies) I would have way more to show for it than I have had with applying for jobs. I'm thinking of changing careers, I'm looking at apprenticeships just so I can get experience but I know I do not like merely working in digital space as in emails, I need to be physically doing tasks, not just organising. Any carpenters, manufacturing people, upholsters, horticulturists, lab technicians about to offer help, or advise to someone looking to change but with no idea where to start.
Hey I'm 31 and Unemployed as of 4 weeks ago. Goin full crazy on my copywriting journey. I've realised true content is having more time and achieving things for yourself. Don't waste it all at some shitty corporate company
Wow, so what you're telling me is we are living the same life? LOL, I'm 37 and same, my mental was really going through it from unsupportive family, work trauma, and debt--I nearly lost my mind at one point. I'm hoping to get an income sooner than later as I can't take a vacation without having money. Best of luck on the job search!
i went to school for data analytics and after my first internship and graduating, i haven’t been able to find an entry level job. it’s been a year and change and i’ve been doing real estate, my area of expertise making just a little above minimum wage. it’s very humbling to say the least
I left my shitty delivery job a week before I turned 19 that was almost 2 years ago I’m now going on 21 and still unemployed and it’s been such a hard 2 years not just in job market but for my health and starting college but sometimes you just have to exhale that out and just say fuck it and take in that relief sometimes because it’s what we all need
I am sorry to hear you're going through that.. wishing the best for you! I know it will all work out, even when it doesn't feel like it will in the moment
I graduated in 2023, I had earned my bachelor's degree in Communications, but I still didn't have any real job experience. The closest to an actual job was when I did a virtual summer internship. Over the course of last year and recent months I've had about over 20 interviews but still couldn't land a job. Why is job searching so hard for a recent college graduate these days? do you have any suggestions people?
Currently in the midst of my job search journey after i left my job 2 months ago . Just went for an interview last week… Thanks for this video which makes me feel better❤.
My young son had to remind me that there are 7 continents to go and find work , YOU are the one that holds you back , paint with a broad brush. I understand and appreciate this information * life goes on”. We only have one life to live and tomorrow is not guaranteed so focus on what is really important in life ( I had to re train my brain due to sickness etc. ) I too totally understand…
I am 45 and got laid off for the first time in my career . my last date is May 31 2024.Life still goes on and need to find another job. Planning to enjoy the free time till then.
Hey Lauren I really enjoyed your video. Im going to be 22 in September and ive been unemployed for 2 years now my last job went really well for the first 2 weeks then the next time I went in they tuned there back on me and I never did anything wrong and the employers accused me of the most point less things ever and this experience has really drag me down sometimes. But since then Ive been volunteering at Sports Foundation. All this doesn't help either while im autistic. So I would really appreciate your thoughts on my situation? Also have I done anything wrong (In your opinion) Thank you very much Sam 👍
Been unemployed for 4 1/2 months. 😭 You really hit the nail when you said imposter syndrome. My ex co worker really targeted me b/c of that so it doesn't really disappear w or wo a job.
I'm sorry you're feeling defeated. You have a special purpose for being on this earth and i'm glad that you're here. Your life is powerful and there's so much potential to awaken to! Sending you love & light, and keep doing things that bring you joy
@@lauren_joe thank you. I am trying my best to not give up. If my 18 year old self would've told me this is where I'd be at 31, I would've never believed him
This video talks about setting off blocks of time where all you're doing is submitting job applications; but without offering any tips for ascertaining what job postings we can have confidence in as being legit. It makes an already arduous process even worse when so much time has to be given to vetting job ads just to get an idea whether they're legit.
Hey Lauren! I want to say thank You! To be honest, watching this video made me feel so much better...I have been Jobless for a year now, applying for Jobs almost every day without even getting an interview...depressing sometimes...You feel like You're not good enough for the Job "market" when in fact the problem is the market itself that's creating this negative athmosphere for job seekers...
I recently found myself in a tough spot after getting laid off about a month ago. But I hustled hard and managed to snag a job within just 3.5 weeks, and get this-it's with one of the top 200 companies in the world! Here's how I did it, alongside the usual online applications (I am based in Melbourne Australia). I was no stranger to rejection-I must've applied to over 480 jobs. But I knew I had to do more than just submit resumes online. So, every day from Monday to Friday, I hit the pavement, knocking on doors at 8 to 12 companies. Of course, there's an art to it. Mondays, though? I learned the hard way not to bother anyone before 10:30 am. They're either in meetings or gearing up for the week. From 10:30 to 11:45 am, though, that's prime time for morning visits. Lunchtime? A no-go zone from 12 to 2 pm. People gotta eat, right? Afternoons pick up again from 2:30 to 4:30 pm-people are more receptive when they're not rushing to head home. Tuesdays to Thursdays? Pretty much the same deal: mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 am and afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. I found people are generally more open to chats during these times. Fridays, though, folks are itching to start their weekend early. After 4 pm, it's best not to bother them-they're mentally checked out. It took some trial and error, but this strategy paid off big time. Meeting people face-to-face, showing my enthusiasm, and being respectful of their time-it made all the difference. So, if you find yourself job hunting, don't underestimate the power of pounding the pavement. You might just land your dream job like I did!
what pisses me off is when people who have jobs and your family act like you are lazy and don't want to work
Same happened to me. Stay strong :]
Oh JeriDro thank you! My fiance is always saying she wants to quit a high level marketing job at Nvidia. I'm like, just to let you know what You're going to be dealing with...
exactly, keep the job until you can find something else. The desert is vast@@robm321
Omg!
Girl please say that louder because is tiring having to justify this
There are SO MANY fake job listings right now - and there are so many repeat job listings. Positions posted by the company, and then reposted by temp agencies trying to fill those roles. I've been searching since Sept 2023 (layoff) and its been rough and every day I have to give myself similar pep talks. This video is extremely well-timed, thank you.
Keep pushing my friend.
Been laid off since sept 23 got job offer and they canceled offer 2 days prior to start
Sorry to hear this man. Would love to chat with you about this. happy to buy you a cup of coffee (or lunch). Just let me know.
"unacceptable offer" beggars can't be choosers. You'd really rather be unemployed than working a shitty job? And you call my generation entitled.
My Gen X mom believes I’m lazy and “don’t want to work”… I’m gen z

This is the new normal. 40 years at one company is long gone…
Yep. Also, working until you're 75 and over is going to be the new normal as well. Scary times.
Makes sense. People job hop and thus employers are acting accordingly.
Unless you’re in Japan.
That is not true. Work a union job. Get into a trade or go work for UPS.
@@RobZ-u3r unions are as corrupt as these corporations. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks
Same just had an interview yesterday thank God he does not give us what we can't handle.

In Japan they have a thing called "forest bathing" to get away from screens and take a walk amongst mother nature.
I thought that was swedish…whatever it is, it is a great concept!
Same here, just did this with a low-paying job. I hated it, and it didn't pay nearly enough to cover any of my expenses.
I'm rooting for you
Wishing you the best.. I have been there before.. I can promise you that somehow, it gets better, and you find yourself out on the other side.
I’m in the same boat you are not alone I also graduated in December and friends seem to be doing good I also feel left behind
This is so inspiring! You investing in yourself is amazing and will absolutely pay off. Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts!
I wish you nothing but success, good luck on your job search. I’m certain you’ll find something that’s a great fit for you!
Exactly. ya either grab life by the fkin balls or ya end up in the gutter.
A huge well done ❤
You should have worked on something else. AI is coming for you.
I'll admit, my depression has gotten so horrible because of this. I was fired from my last job for no reason. I ended up having to work at Target to make ends meet. I HAVE found a positive though: Taking time to make healthy meals and exercise daily.

Why does this video make you cry? If anything it's encouraging and refreshing. Hang in there. My 22 yrs old daughter is in this position. She's struggling and it's hearbreaking to see.
I felt that I was the only one going through this struggle, I have learned that I am not alone . One day I will find my purpose.

I really want to go back to college but I need to save up first…
Then stop?
I think this is where you tap into your spirituality. There must be something you believe in(?)Some digging deep and remembering some of the motivational lines you've heard or know.
So for example:
I'm on a different trajectory than those my age doing so well.

Glad my video helped! It’s easy to get in our head about it, but keep focusing on you and everything will work out the way it’s supposed to ❤️

Glad to see I'm not the only one going through this. This really helped. Thanks and good luck 👍🏼.

Thank you for sharing -- and wishing you the best of luck with this next round!
Its okay girl!!!! we got this! thanks for sharing and we are on the same boat. Praying for the both of us, Gods timing is perfect
You're doing great and just know that things will get better! Hang in there
Thank you for this video.
You got gift to discover the meaning of life, and it's not job
HANG IN THERE, TOUGH TIMES WON'T LAST. JUST KEEP THE OPTIMISTIC ATTITUDE BUT DON'T BE AFRAID OF FAILING
It's never a good time when being unemployed though it is good to put that time to good use. Never give up.
Thanks for this video, I been unemployed for 3 months now and your words really helped me to push through this. Thank you
This is very helpful and to know I'm not alone feeling like this.
I’m sure it’ll even out one day
I was laid off on May 2. My mental health has been affected. I appreciate your suggestions. It is important to have a routine and learn a new skill 😢
Not sure why your video pop up for me but i am SOOOO appreciative. Thanks sis! I really needed to hear this because it has been HARD!!
This was genuinely great advice been going thru job after job and now I decided I wanna have a boxing career and give it all I got
Thank you for making this video, really needed this advice cause my life seems pretty bleak at the moment. But this gives me hope that this is just a phase and I should take care of myself in the mean time.
Thank you! I need this video so hard right now. I'm in my first job searching right now and it is terrible
Keep your head up! Your job break-through is coming -- just keep focusing on yourself and remembering your value/potential. We're in this together
Needed to hear this especially right now, thank you sister ❤
But i will remain hopeful.
great video and advice. thanks for sharing. ♥️🙏🏽 i hope we all find jobs that are well paying, stress free, and without toxic culture.
i quit my toxic job in september and am still looking for a job. we’re coming into holiday season and winter so i’m getting nervous i might be unemployed until the new year. i thought it would be easier to get a job in a month or two, but it’s so hard to keep myself motivated to send in applications. luckily i have a safety net, but what i was trying to spin as a change of career is now looking like several months of job searching lol. best of luck to everyone in these comments, we’ll get the right job eventually ❤
I'm not alone, thank you this gives me hope. I hope you find what you are looking for! I apply to jobs full-time.
(9:00) '...eventually, something is going to shift.'
This time around, that shift won't come without working people waking up to our shared interests and rising up against a system that's designed to pit us against one another while it uses us until we become expendable.
Thanks for sharing your experience. So relatable and thanks for the useful tips. All the best!
Yes!!! Finally, I found someone who express this! 🎉🎉❤
Honestly if I lost my job I would cry it so hard to get one. True learning something new is a good idea haha.
Thanks for your transparency and sharing! All the best to you on your journey 🌟
I know it will all work out, even when it doesn't feel like it will in the moment
great, mature response to the setback. All the best and I'm sure you will land from on your feet in a good position.
I needed some realistic optimism shot today :)
I really needed this. Thank you so much for sharing the insight!!
Thank you, going through this. God bless 🙏🏽🕊️✝️
Currently in the midst of my job search journey after i left my job 2 months ago . Just went for an interview last week… Thanks for this video which makes me feel better❤.
I needed this thank you man these layoffs sucks the soul out of you
Searching for a job is a full time job!
Already like after the first minute because this seems to be what I need to hear RIGHT now.
I needed this today! Thank you!!! ❤
Been unemployed for 4 1/2 months. 😭 You really hit the nail when you said imposter syndrome. My ex co worker really targeted me b/c of that so it doesn't really disappear w or wo a job.
Thank you for such a positive video!
Life is so dark and hopeless right now. In every way.
If my 18 year old self would've told me this is where I'd be at 31, I would've never believed him
great tips and advice, keep crushing it!
I'm glad I could help! Just know you're definitely not alone in this. Things will get better -- keep your head up!
Hi Lauren this was GREAT!!!! THANK YOU!!!
You got this. Thank you for your information.
Enjoying your time while being unemployed is almost heresy as there are many people who like other people to suffer
