keep in mind none of those test SUVs had the optional Rock Rails from Factory that most folks do order. Also the ground clearance in the GX OT is 9.22 not 8.66, like the other GX models. Due to the larger Toyos and EKDSS it's a bit higher. The EKDSS in stock from wheels can articulate to 24 inches, which is amazing for an off the show room floor truck and it has stock skid plates in the main areas, from front to back, can more be added sure, but it does have TRD skid plates. NO one is saying take this SUV and go deep rock crawling, you would need a proper lift and extra skids etc. but it's a great off roader straight from the show room floor. Anyone who likes Landcruisers will really enjoy having this. Cheers!

That is the Overland Experts course. I took one of their classes last month in my GX 550 OT I recommend their classes.

Hope you faired ok from Helene. I've lived here my whole life and in 59 years I've never seen anything like this it makes the blizzard of 93 looks like just an inconvenience. Best wishes to you and your family.

What are rock rails, rear difflock, undercarriage? I ordered a Overtrail+ , got some wheels ready for it, a roof rack, and that thing is ready to be pavement princess for a few months. The people you see on those trails are the people you don't want to see period.

Stellantis is really screwing up Jeep by trying to go upmarket and/or overpricing Jeeps. I bought my 2017 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk when the 2018's were hitting the showroom for $42K out the door (even with all the California taxes). It's been a great rig: comfortable, zero problems, great on the street, tows well, and great on the trails (it's not a Wrangler, but then nothing is). If I had $72K to spend on a rig, I'd be very hesitant to take it anywhere it could get bumped and bruised. And at that price point it'd be hard not to go for the luxury (even though the new Grand Cherokee's are very nice) and reliability of the Lexus. The only downside I can see to the Lexus is that if and when you have problems they will be noticeably more expensive to service.

Good video appraisal, Brad. However I am not impressed with the Lexus GX 550 for the following reasons: way too expensive, angles of approach, break over and departure are not impressive nor is the clearance, or the undercarriage protection what it should be for off-roading ; I will stick with my 2021 JGC Trailhawk, thank you very much!

It’s priced correctly for the market, you’ll never see a cheap Land
Cruiser vehicle a day in your life lol. But you are comparing a unibody Stellantis product to a body on frame Land Cruiser with Lexus Luxury tech that literally rivals expensive Land Rovers. The Overtrail does have undercarriage protection and optional rock sliders, approach angles are an easy fix now that problematic air suspension is gone. This GX will flex way further with that solid rear over independent suspension any day. They’re too different to compare honestly.

My work has these, they are a nice looking vehicle, however, to drive on the road, I would take a Tahoe or Yukon over this!

The biggest mistake in this car is that the front and rear difflock button within the screen not a touch button.... Terrible mistake. When the screen went out, everything is gone

There was a physical button for the center and rear differential lock. No front locked on this.

They're not on the screen, they're physical buttons
