  • @MFEGoingDeep decided to take advantage of a gorgeous evening with good conditions and venture out into some of the deeper water straight out from Lakeview Landing. Checking out some of the critters below the 100’ deep zone, we get a nice lake trout cruising in to investigate and looks to bump into the robotic claw! Lots of feed present as there was several smelts and sculpins, lots of other ones too that didn’t make the video as they were too quick or I didn’t get a clear look at them.
Neat to see the lake trout down that deep that’s the deepest I’ve seen one so far on video, looking forward to more encounters like that with some real giant ones as we continue to explore the depths!

Great content! It makes you realize how much is out there, so close to home, yet out of view underwater.

I would love to see underwater footage of the Dolby pond in Millinocket.

Do the lake trout feed on the sculpins or only the smelt?

I’m sure they do, smelt being their primary choice. Probably also has a lot to do with what’s available also.

    Sculpins are thick and smelts

what are those tiny little fish hanging around at the bottom of the lakes and stuff?

The slender silvery ones are smelts and the brownish golden ones are sculpins.

@@MFEGoingDeep ah nice I knew what the smelts were but I wasn't sure about the ones on the way bottom

Yeah those aren’t something I’ve seen very often other than when I’m videoing some of these deep lakes. Seem to always find a few laying on bottom in the deeper water.

@@MFEGoingDeep Yeah I have seen a few in your video's when your drone was at the bottom of some deeper lakes

Hi. Could I employ your drone to help explore old abandoned and flooded mines around the state?

Feel free to email me mfegoingdeep@gmail for what you might have in mind. I don’t rent the unit out or anything like that but would consider some for hire projects or potential collaborations depending on the circumstances.
