    Yeah it still blows my mind that they had those shocks hanging that low on a true off-road vehicle finally for 2023 production year the shocks are going to be relocated just like the 589 Fab!!

    Looks great. Should be this way from factory.

    Living proof you can enjoy your truck off-road and still keep it clean. Another quality video.

    Dude...the timing is crazy. I literally just got home from doing a Deaver mini-pak, u bolt flip, Timbren bumps, and shock relocation on my truck.
    Not a bad solution to those damn brackets if you're willing to give up the DSSVs. Be careful when you get the new shocks and measure everything up. You don't want your shocks to be bump stops or limiting straps (remember the 420 video where the end pulls off?) I had to correct that on mine today when I did the relocation. Factory had the shock holding the rear axle up about 1/2" from full droop.
    I think you'll be happy with the new shocks. I like the DSSVs, but any good brand name shock valved correctly is going to do fine. I am certainly not running the SCORE series everywhere I drive.

    Yes the ddsv's do leak, already replaced both rear shocks at 12 000 miles, when warranty is up they are gone. Great vid btw :)

    Great solution. Waiting to see how it feels with the new shocks compared to the DSSV's.

    Love watching your videos! Quick question...now that your lower rear shock mounts have been relocated, your overall shock travel appears to have shortened...are you gonna relocate the upper shock mount soon too?

    Hey man I noticed this heat and humidity in the south is getting to you a little bit, don’t worry you never get used to it you just learn to live with it. LOL

    Don’t know if I missed it - where did you get the new shock mounts? How did you free up the DSSV shock with the rusted bolt? I have the 589 Fab shock relocation kit but my fabricator was injured recently and isn’t in the shop welding yet. Wait is killing me!!

      I never did get the bolt out of the bushing, I ended up cutting the bolt on both sides of the shock and pressing the whole bushing our with my vise. I used a universal rubber bushing from Autozone to be able to reuse my shock until the Icon ones get here. The shock mounts I bought from Barnes 4wd and modified them to fit my application!

    Nice mod as usual, I’ve been wondering if it’s possible to just drill new holes in the existing shock mounts to raise the mount point, and then just trim the ‘excess’... thoughts?

    • @campbelloffroad3660
      @campbelloffroad3660  4 года назад

      I don’t think this would work since the brackets curve sideways in the middle, but you could probably cut off the bottom half and then make small tabs to weld on from there

    Do a U-Bolt flip as well, less hardware to hang up on offroad.

    Hey Kyle wanted your opinion on 275/70/17 tires for ZR2. I have the eibach front springs and add a leaf on rear. I currently have 265/70/17 and was wanting to go a little bigger but did not want to do any trimming or severely affect my mileage. I think this size may work but there is very few choices in this size. The Goodyear MTR tire is a very good tire but only comes in a E rating which makes it very heavy and measures 32.4 diameter,only slightly less than 285/70/17 and I know trimming is involved in that size. You have a lot of experience with different size tires on these trucks so any thoughts would be appreciated

    • @campbelloffroad3660
      @campbelloffroad3660  4 года назад

      I can not say for sure on the rubbing as I never ran the 275/70 size exactly. If there was to be any rubbing at all with that setup I’m sure it would be minimal. My recommendation for guaranteed no rubbing and great gas mileage would be the 255/75r17 because it is only 10” wide. The downside in my opinion is the visual appearance of how narrow it is. As for the tire choice, I would avoid anything mud tire or load E if gas mileage is important to you. The Nitto Ridge Grappler is an aggressive tread that sill gets good mpg, so are the BFG KO2s. Let me know if you have any further questions!

    • @timricks1149
      @timricks1149 4 года назад

      Yes the 255/75/17 are a bit narrow and I also don’t like the look. There are not many choices in 275/70/17 that look good besides the MTR but I was looking for a all terrain and c load. I guess I’ll have to go up to 18 inch rims or just keep the size I have

    • @campbelloffroad3660
      @campbelloffroad3660  4 года назад

      Yeah then I would agree you should stick with the 265/70 until you work up the courage to trim fenders! lol

  • @ch_chone

    Your mental math might be off a little. The ZR2 gets 1" of its 2" lift from the spring travel, which means that the stroke length of the Z71 dampers and the ZR2 dampers is not the same (even though you roughly accounted for the difference in eye-to-eye length). It might still work, but keep an eye on it. Make sure you bottom out on the bump stops before the damper runs out of stroke, or you'll be blowing through dampers.

      Thanks for the input, I definitely plan to flex it without shocks and measure, and then measure the shocks fully compressed before I install them

  • @kristopherribali6272
    @kristopherribali6272 4 года назад

    I did the same to my truck but I feel like the I hit the bump stops when I hit a bump. Do you feel the same thing?

    • @campbelloffroad3660
      @campbelloffroad3660  4 года назад +1

      Yes I do feel the same thing currently. This is because these DSSV shocks are designed so that the last 2-3" of travel before bottoming out is extremely stiff, which is a great design for absorbing large impacts like jumping. However when the shock is already in that "stiff" zone at ride height, as opposed to the normal middle of the travel range it should be in, the result is a very stiff feel on small bumps, and significantly limited up travel of the tires. This is why I am only running the DSSVs like this temporarily until the new shorter shocks I ordered from Icon arrive.
