*Edit: I will begin deleting comments that are spreading misinformation. Your theory or anecdotes that getting lots of common blades of a certain element (like holding lots of Dark Blades to increase your chances of getting KOS-MOS) is incorrect. The amount of common blades you have does not affect your ability to summon a Rare Blade in any way.* How did you go making sense of all that? Have you checked to see which group you're in? 🙃
Meh. This is one of the most annoying aspects in the game. It takes too long to open core crystals, just to get many duds in the process. The limits of max blades forces you to get rid of them too often, and there’s no way of filtering blades by their field actions. The most annoying part of blades, is how in order to use a field action, they must be in your party. It sucks to have to keep digging through your scrambled mess of blades, just to find if they have a certain value you need to open a chest or path. These end up feeling like a complete waste of time, and feel too pointless. If only the game didn’t have so many useless blades, or had a way of detecting that you have the necessary limit of blade abilities, it would save a lot of time from having to keep digging around for useless party members that you’ll just replace as soon as a puzzle is solved.
They have allowed you to fully skip the blade summoning scene in the latest update, but I agree it's still not enough to make the whole process any less tedious because you're still forced to release blades as you fill up your inventory, if they added options to release multiple blades (like "Release all 1 star Blades") I would feel a lot happier. I'm hoping they reassess the base probabilities in a future update; after going over this whole system it looks as if the devs thought people wouldn't care about collecting all the blades, rather just taking what they're given and finish the game, but they obviously underestimated JRPG player's wants and needs.
Jay RPG What sucks about skipping the blade summoning is that if you DO get a rare, you can't view their summoning intro to get hyped up. It just becomes: "Oh... I got that guy."
Agreed. They should have made it so that rare blades are not auto skipped because nobody should willingly open the same rare twice. Maybe they will in a future update once we are all done opening them ?
While the numbers are interesting to know, it seems it does not help too much than just do what the in-game dialogues tell you: get high luck, use legendary crystals, level up ideas. I discovered recently, that there is even a dialogue that only the highest idea level is used (some Nopon in Argentum on some pipes where you have to jump down to.)
The info has proven useful for me mainly for discounting theories and "methods" based on anecdotal evidence. We now have definitive proof that doing things like stockpiling common blades of a certain element don't increase your chances of getting a certain rare blade. Merely knowing the variables with 100% certainty is great info the have, and while the game does mostly tell you everything in this regard, being vague and fleeting leads to speculation running wild throughout the community.

Considering the rares have quests though this should not be random. You should get all rare blades through the storyline. No one should be denied game content because they are unlucky. Seems like I'm in group 3. My first 10 summoned rare blades in order (excluding specifics) are: Kora, Finch, Nim, Azami, Agate, Vale, Perceval, Gorg, Ursula, and Perun My other blades are: Godfrey and Newt
I mostly relied on Boosters and rare/legendary crystals. I would NEVER be dumb enough to release a blade for 1 particular blade. Only time I use common cores is to release them for boosters. Boreas was my first blade and Zenobia was my last. In NG+, Akhos was my first and Obrona was my last.
Hey @JRPGGaming Thanks for this video. I finally got KOS-MOS last night after following some of the tips in the video (along with a lot of other YT channels and forums). I'm in Chapter 5 and just got to Fonsett so really glad I was able to get her this early so I can enjoy the game a bit more. I used about 100 or so common crystals (I seem to get a ton of them) and I opened maybe 20 rare ones (was trying to get some rare blades for Mòrag). I had been using +5 boosters and decided to just use 1 each time since you mentioned that the booster kind of trumps the rest of the attributes anyway. I was on my very last rare crystal and used my last Justice booster with Rex and KOS-MOS popped up. I was kind of shocked and really relieved that I was able to get her. Anyway, thanks again.
Yes... as getting 4 crown commons is the only way to get more Overdrives until you hit NG+ (I've only gotten 3, from maybe the dozen or so Legendary cores I've found)
Thank you so much. Your method worked way better than the one I used(which was to keep any single element blade), I was able to get KOS-MOS today by using only Rare and Legendary Cores I didn’t even need a booster for her too.
My first rare was Azami, and now that I think about it, I got Perceval and Adenine fairly early. The blade that gave me so much trouble to get was Zenobia, of all things!
I'm glad you made this video so people that didn't already know can see it, RUclips being the biggest platform. I have 12 rare blades left besides the NG+ blades, but I'm probably just gonna start NG+ soon anyways.
Im new to this game, ive bought it last week, and first time i've used legendary core i got Perceval from my first try, and i love him so far, thanks so much for this guide, i'm gonna take my time watching it and learn more from you, i love this game so far
Hold up, 1 more question With this new info, we can confirm that stacking up on dark blades to "thin out the blade pool" in hopes of getting kosmos DOES NOT WORK. Correct?
Yeah, not gonna lie, this is a garbage system that they didn't think through. And to think they STILL haven't done anything to alleviate the frustrations. It's might be even worse because some Blades require other Blades to finish their Affinity charts. Elma requires KOS-MOS! I know there's a thematic reason, but why would they do that? I mean, jeez, just have a hidden shop where you can buy a Rare Blades Core for a high price or something. It should not take 150+ hours to acquire one Blade
I already have KOS-MOS. I got her by giving Zeke one of the luck bands (I forget which) and maxed out his Justice Idea to lvl 10 whilst the others were around 4-6 with a Legendary Core Crystal. I already had Percival on Morag and I think I already had Azami on Zeke. I guess I got lucky?
Technically, Kos-Mos is the rarest Blade. Since she isnt from the XC2 universe and is actually from the Xenosaga universe, the Zohar probably threw her through space and time for her to show up here.
This is some really good info to know, especially about the pity system. I swear i must've gotten most of my rare blades from the pity point system so far XD Seriously though, I hope the devs decide to do an update on the algorithm cause it's really annoying going through all the rare cores, even a few legendary cores, and still only get the common blades...
I got KOS-MOS from a common core crystal with 3 boosters (can't remember which boosters I used ). I wasn't trying to get her it just happened randomly. I wish I had video evidence. I would have filmed it if I knew how rare she was.
Playing through the game for the first time and decided to check out this video and realised that all three of the rare blades I have were from the pity system...
A lot of people are definitely going to put this information to good use. I'm use to dealing with random shenanigans when it comes to getting everything in a specific game so the aggravating aspect of this will be nothing new to me, but at least this information will be useful for those that want to get every blade in the game.
So my idea (pun intended) for getting a specific rare blade Is this: (let’s assume the rare blade is fire, but you can replace it with your corresponding element) 1: search your party to see who has the most bravery(fire’s idea) 2: use maximum bravery boosters on that driver(you can get boosters from sending home blades. The blades element increases your chance of the corresponding booster. You can also get boosters from trading items) 3: use a legendary core (You can also try to increase the driver’s luck for better chances) The first time I did this, I got an instant KOS-MOS.
Well, I'm off to a happy start on this video now knowing the base chance of the ONE blade I need. lol This is super useful stuff, thanks much for making this video!
My first 10 rare blades are: Azami, Finch, Dahlia, Floren, Boreas, Ursula, Adenine, Perceval, T-elos, and Godfrey. The rest I unlocked after are: Kora, Nim, Perun, Electra, Newt, Gorg, Zenobia, and Agate. I only got Wulfric, Vess, Kassandra, Corvin, Crossette, Praxis, Theory, Herald, and Sheba from main story/side quests/DLC. The only two blades left that I still need to get are Dagas and KOS-MOS.
I got kos-mos by using only common core crystals and boosters to raise the level was one point higher. It took 200 crystals. I used a luck item that was equipped. I also got Zenobia via the same strategy. That took 150 common crystals. I also found that switching from both common and rare crystals using the above strategy allowed me to get the rest of the 5 star blades.
6:37 mine was the one with Finch Kora and Nim since Finch was my first rare anf kora was 9th, Nim could've been a regular pull since i got a little late. (Also KOS-MOS was my 12th rare so im pretty happy about) (KOS-MOS was before Nim btw)
i got KOS-MOS so out of blue that i had no idea that people were struggling with it! ironically i'm having lots of troubles to get some of the most common rare blades instead :D
Ok so right now (as im typing) im currently at the stage of the game where im up against Malos and Akhos on hte Urayan Titan. I have attempted 7 blades so far, 4 of which are the generic blades, 3 of which are the rare blades. the blades i summoned are: Adenine, Ursula, and Electra in that order. So going based on the % chance of summoning: I'm most likely in group 1. As that group holds the highest percentage chance among all 3 of those blades.
After coming back after not playing since I beat the game a few months ago, I did some more grinding for rare and legendary core crystals from one boss, and I finally got her after opening only about another 100 rare core crystals and 20 legendary core crystals! Of course I get it from a rare core crystal without any boosters while not even at max luck! Haha! I'm so happy right now! I can finally move on to new game plus!
5:45 One thing I never understood about point systems where the lowest number of points you can get at one time is more than one: if the all the point values you can get at one time are even multiples of the lowest, then why not just divide all of them by the lowest value? For example, with this pity Blade system, on paper, it's 5, 25, and 50, but it's basically just 1, 5, and 10.
I wasn't even aiming to get KOS-MOS at all until i got her completely randomly from a common core crystal, was shocked to my core because i knew how rare she was... i only wanted Forestry Common Blades xD
just got kos mos this morning... on my new game... 5 minutes after getting the ability to open cores lol, my 4th rare blade. i was speechless when looking at the screen after having tried to get her for 200 hours on my other profile
I think I just hit jackpot today, I bought Xenoblade around a week ago and I did my first summon and got kos-mos with 2 justice boosters. Idk how likely that even is, but I know it is close to impossible :ppp
For reference, KOS-MOS's most optimal pulling rate (999 Luck, 15 Justice IPs, Legendary Core Crystal) is still below 1%. Do yourself a favor and try the lottery. :)
I think my main save is in Group 5 based on this, since Vale was the first Rare Blade I got in that save, and she was shortly followed by Ursula and then Floren. Of course, now, I only have 3 Rare Blades left to summon prior to beginning NG+, those being Zenobia, Dahlia, and the ever-elusive KOS-MOS. Now, I can't confirm this with any certainty (this is just a baseless theory on my part, this is just what things seemed like in *my* case specifically), but to me, it seems like if you watch the summon animation without using any Boosters, if you see the outline of a given Rare Blade but don't actually get them, that may still be the Rare Blade you will get next (or, if more than one Rare Blade's silhouette appears, one of those will be the next Rare Blade you get). This has seemed to hold true for me, as on several instances I saw only Newt's silhouette, and Newt turned out to be the next Rare Blade that I eventually summoned. The same also happened with Dagas & Finch for me, and following that same pattern, I expect that my next Rare Blade will be Zenobia, as her silhouette has been regularly appearing for me without her actually being summoned just yet, and during that time period I have no seen Dahlia's or KOS-MOS' silhouettes appear at all.
You were probably very lucky, due to a programming bug, group 5 should not be possible to be assinged to because group 1 was given twice the probability of being assigned to leaving group 5 without a spot.
I love the game so much until the point of finding Kos mos. I just don’t get why they have to make it this hard. The blades suppose to be experienced but now I spend 1/5 play time grinding core and that becomes my experience about this game ; ( and I hate this part the most.
@@DNAtapana I got her early I guess and just ran missions in the background. Didn't really bother me because I was constantly using her missions to level up blades to elemental field skills as I am a exploration completionist and wanted every chest, secret area, etc.
KOS-MOS was the first Blade I pulled with Zeke... I just got into XBC2, so I didn’t think anything of it. NG+ and im looking up videos on stuff to do, and appearently it’s like a really hard thing to get her XP
So that's why getting Zenobia is being so frustrating, her odds are really low... Thanks for the info, it's really good and well detailed! We Xenoblade fans appreciate you content, Jay!
So... After seeing this video, i decided to make some Common Summons for the lolz, after knowing how FUCKING HARD is to get Kos-Mos... 8 common cores summon after... There she is. This video is blessed. ¡¡¡THIS VIDEO IS FUCKING BLESSED!!!
I must have been in group 4 my first playthrough because I swear, THOSE WERE MY ONLY RARE BLADES THROUGHOUT THE GAME! And no, I didn't know of the quest blades
Btw group 5 is impossible to be assigned to. Due to a programming error, group 1 ended up being put into the assingment pool twice leaving group 5 without a spot. Effectively there are only 4 groups that you could be assigned to with group 1 having the highest probability of being assigned to with twice the chance of being selected. This programming bug, still hasn't being fixed.
I didn’t even realize kosmos was was hard for some people to get she was my second rare blade I got out of a rare core core crystal from a white and gold chest i accidentally found in gormott

Hyper Sonic nice to know akhos and patroka have higher chances then those other guys
Yuuki Terumi Patroka was my 4th blade after Perdido and Cressidus.
In my NG+ I got all the rare blades in reverse order in the blade book thing. Sever ------ > Akhos ( Not counting Mik)
Hyper Sonic Is fucking hate Obrona's voice
Metal Gear Link sounds like she has some speech impediment but somehow still sounds cute.
I... feel really bad now, since Kos-Mos was my first blade i got from a rare. i sincerely apologize to you guys.
Would love someone to figure out the statistics on the common blades now. Then the blade system has basically been cracked.
Yes... as getting 4 crown commons is the only way to get more Overdrives until you hit NG+
(I've only gotten 3, from maybe the dozen or so Legendary cores I've found)
@@Kaijudomage 4 crown commons are more rare than rares.
Now Im glad that I didnt pledge myself to 100% in this great game....
Thank you so much. Your method worked way better than the one I used(which was to keep any single element blade), I was able to get KOS-MOS today by using only Rare and Legendary Cores I didn’t even need a booster for her too.
I got KOS-MOS literally seconds after finishing the video
Lmao I got t elos and kos mos back to back after this video
My first rare was Azami, and now that I think about it, I got Perceval and Adenine fairly early. The blade that gave me so much trouble to get was Zenobia, of all things!
Azami gang here, but i haven't got one ever since
THIS IS EYE OPENING. I now definitely know I was a group 2 in my first save and a group 4 in my second.
Nice I think he was my forth rare blade
*KOS-MOS,* huh? She was my, like, *5th Rare Blade?*
Apparently, that makes me an anomaly.
Cool. (⌐■_■)
Actually quantum mechanics forbids this
Hold up, 1 more question
With this new info, we can confirm that stacking up on dark blades to "thin out the blade pool" in hopes of getting kosmos DOES NOT WORK. Correct?
Correct.
KOS-MOS's Base Probability never changes, and the only variables that affect it are Luck, Ideas, and Core Crystal Rarity.
This should have way more views. This is a great video. Thanks for walking through it.
I got 2 rare ones in under a minute
I already have KOS-MOS. I got her by giving Zeke one of the luck bands (I forget which) and maxed out his Justice Idea to lvl 10 whilst the others were around 4-6 with a Legendary Core Crystal. I already had Percival on Morag and I think I already had Azami on Zeke. I guess I got lucky?
Nice pick on the background music. Uematsu was on fire for 9.
Weirdly enough, same here
Kos-Mos was my first rare blade. I love her
Effectively, the 15 Rare Core Crystals via DLC-pack allow you to go through all 3 pity blades, or rather: guarantee 3 rare blades.
Playing through the game for the first time and decided to check out this video and realised that all three of the rare blades I have were from the pity system...
Thanks to this video, i got Perdido, Sever and Finch!
Used 15 rare cores last night and got 4 rare blades including Kos-mos!
A lot of people are definitely going to put this information to good use. I'm use to dealing with random shenanigans when it comes to getting everything in a specific game so the aggravating aspect of this will be nothing new to me, but at least this information will be useful for those that want to get every blade in the game.
Kos-MOs was my first blade and I had no idea she was rare af
Love the FFIX music 😍
Thanks for sharing and big thanks to MooseHunter!
So my idea (pun intended) for getting a specific rare blade Is this: (let’s assume the rare blade is fire, but you can replace it with your corresponding element)
1: search your party to see who has the most bravery(fire’s idea)
2: use maximum bravery boosters on that driver(you can get boosters from sending home blades. The blades element increases your chance of the corresponding booster. You can also get boosters from trading items)
3: use a legendary core
(You can also try to increase the driver’s luck for better chances)
The first time I did this, I got an instant KOS-MOS.
Lucky you. Took me 5 days and 1200 Rare/Legendary crystals to get KOS-MOS using the same method
Methinks in Group 2 then. Boreas was my very first Rare Blade and I remember getting Electra not much longer afterward.
Well, I'm off to a happy start on this video now knowing the base chance of the ONE blade I need. lol This is super useful stuff, thanks much for making this video!
Got kosmos after i started a new game from a rare core crystal
When you get kos-mos on accident without even knowing she existed
Not knowing how rare she was, you let her go so you can reroll her on Zeke... I totally didn't do that...
@@ninja78pro feels bad man
@@ninja78pro You know you could've just over drove her
@@allingbrodniak8819 I didn't have or know about the mechanic at the time
@@ninja78pro Then that must have felt terrible knowing you transfered and extremely rare blade
Kos-mos was like the seventh rare blade that I summoned...
Thank god...
I decided to get a bunch of common blades, in the first common crystal with no added things I got KOS-MOS, felt good :D
I got KOS-MOS yesterday in chapter 4 during my first play through, happy to know I got lucky
Oh wow, i got kos-mos immediately right when I opened this video again....
KOS-MOS was the first rare blade I ever got and from a Common Core Crystal too I can tell I got extremely lucky.
I got KOS-MOS after three legendary core crystal rolls earlier on in the game
After like 20 hours I decided to use cores from the dlc (just got xenoblade 2 this year). I got kosmos with a common core. I feel special :v
oooof
@0:00 No, I struggled to get Vale. Now I got everybody.
Kos-Mos was one of my first blades.
I didn't even knew she was so rare.
Wow. I got KOS-MOS on my third core crystal with Morag. Had no idea she was that rare!
I got my kos mos early in NG+ when I opened a few legendary crystals. Also got patroka around the same time.
6:37 mine was the one with Finch Kora and Nim since Finch was my first rare anf kora was 9th, Nim could've been a regular pull since i got a little late. (Also KOS-MOS was my 12th rare so im pretty happy about) (KOS-MOS was before Nim btw)
i got KOS-MOS so out of blue that i had no idea that people were struggling with it!
ironically i'm having lots of troubles to get some of the most common rare blades instead :D
ooh im lucky i got kosmos on my third rare core crystal
I got KOS-MOS by accident, and I don't even use her.
Thanks for all the great Xenoblade videos Jay. It has made this game more enjoyable for me. Where do you get all these values in your spreadsheets?
I pulled Kos-Mos on Rex pretty early on (during chapter 4) from a Common Core. Guess that was absurdly lucky.
I think i got KOS-MOS out of a commom core with 5 compassion boosters on Zeke. His idea value for it was the highest too.
just got kos mos this morning... on my new game... 5 minutes after getting the ability to open cores lol, my 4th rare blade. i was speechless when looking at the screen after having tried to get her for 200 hours on my other profile
I was playing the game while watching and got GODFREY out of common core
KOS - MOS was my first rare blade I got! Ididn't knew she is so rare. I'm super lucky
I got really lucky and got KOS-MOS as my 2nd rare blade
I think I just hit jackpot today, I bought Xenoblade around a week ago and I did my first summon and got kos-mos with 2 justice boosters. Idk how likely that even is, but I know it is close to impossible :ppp
For reference, KOS-MOS's most optimal pulling rate (999 Luck, 15 Justice IPs, Legendary Core Crystal) is still below 1%.
Do yourself a favor and try the lottery. :)
@@d3-ll754 Ill buy a scratchcard later, will update
Aight I won 25 dollars lol
I summoned Kos-Mos and T-Elos one after the other x.x
I was just spree bonding and I decided to pop of a legendary core crystal and they where just like here have KOS-MOS!!!!!!
I love the game so much until the point of finding Kos mos. I just don’t get why they have to make it this hard.
The blades suppose to be experienced but now I spend 1/5 play time grinding core and that becomes my experience about this game ; ( and I hate this part the most.
Oh! Another pain in the ass is Ursula’s quest. Where can I submit my critics to game developer team?? Haha
0:02
No, got her yesterday thank you very much.
I got KOS-MOS early but I'm struggling to get Perceval, Adenine, and Perun.
One thing I found funny was that when I unlocked KOS-MOS, I had no idea how rare she actually was so I didn't use her that much, now I know better
Kosmos was like my third rare Blade xD
Didn't realise how rare KOS-MOS is, can't believe I got her pretty easily
Group 3
First rare blade: Ursula
Latest rare blade: Newt
Remaining rare blades: Kos-Mos, Dahlia, Finch
Loving the FF series music in your videos. Keep'em coming!
At this point, I'm just happy when I get a level 4 common blade because that's all I seem to roll with a legendary or rare core.
I just watch your old one and then you uploaded this...
I got super lucky. Kos-mos was like the 5th or 6th blade I awakened.
I'm so glad to actually know the math behind this now.
You can get group 5 you can’t get pity group 5 common misconception it’s only the pity groups that were assigned wrong not the blade groups themselves
0:10 Me: explodes
I didn’t even realize kosmos was was hard for some people to get she was my second rare blade I got out of a rare core core crystal from a white and gold chest i accidentally found in gormott
