- The plaintiff purchased a car from the defendant and claims the frame was rotted. It won’t pass inspection, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant claims the plaintiff is lying about the car because she took it in to get inspected herself, and it passed. Besides, the plaintiff got a great deal on the car and is suing for more than its value.

What she should have done was call the company and verify the letter. But at that point, she knew the plaintiff was lying.
Plaintiff didn't want to answer a lot of questions. Not because she was embarrassed, but because she knew she'd get caught in her lies. She even brought the friend/employer in on her scheme!

Completely understand why the plaintiff's marriage ended. She's a certified nut. A $700 vehicle purchase turned into a $7000 lawsuit is outrageous! And where do you board geckos? Also, I would wager the company the plaintiff's witness works for has no idea what these two were up to in court. That witness sat down fast when JM called her out!

The plaintiff had a rental car. She could have driven the rental car to the new job. She could also have slept in it and kept her pets in it like she planned to do with the "new/used" car. The "new/used" car had nothing to do with her not starting a new job.

The Defendant offered to give a full refund to the Plaintiff when she came to her JOB and threw the court papers in her face---but seeing that the Defendant was in a better position financially, Plaintiff decided to steamroll Defendant to not just get the car refund, but maximize her payday.

"Plaintiff, if you are asking for monies you paid for boarding your animals and rental car to the tune of over $1K,where did THAT money come from and why couldn't you drive to the new job??"
Plaintiff is not so debilitated mentally that she couldn't garner sympathy from her co-worker/witness, the potential job who approved the letter on her behalf, all the paperwork for the car she BELIEVED validated her claim, filling a police report, taking the Defendant to court AND her final argument with the intimidating JM.
May have some mental health challenges--but there's crazy like a fox, too...
Yeah part of her claim was also for car rental. I was hoping the judge would've asked about that too.

I know animals are loving but you CAN'T give animals a good life if you cant take care of yourself. You need resources to care for animals
The plaintiff's bad choices caused her to lose - suing for such an extreme amount of $ over a $700 car caused JM not to trust her - especially after the defendant said she would give her her money back.
You don't need to know the law, you just need to have common sense.
This is hard to watch for me. I was homeless. So, I get it. But if you choose to buy a car and pay to board animals and not continue to pay for a place for yourself, there's something wrong with your thinking process. This woman needs counseling. She is not well and that is causing her to make very bad choices.
Edit: Her arguing with the judge at the end changed my mind. She does have something wrong with her mind. But it's probably why she is divorced too. She's nasty and greedy.
Reptiles like geckos are EXTREMELY hard to care for. They need a large glass terrarium, heat and constant electricity for that heat lamp.

@@Aceofwolves no way she could do that in a car either (I imagine). she lives in Massachusetts (I recognized the accent as well as the name of the city and the laws relating to inspections - it's the state I live in). the temperatures here are not good for humans or animals living in a car! very upsetting case

Sad plaintiff but she obviously has some mental issues. I love my animals and I have several. But if you can't even afford to put a roof over your head you can't properly care for animals. How on earth she could feed them, doctor them and give them good lives just isn't possible.

The reason she doesn't have the actual inspection is because when he said it wouldn't pass inspection, she didn't want to pay for an inspection that she knew would fail!!! He already gave her a heads up.
Yet, the defendant had a passing inspection she got on the car after she got it back, which she showed to Doug. The plaintiff didn't get a failed inspection report because she knew the vehicle would pass.
Even if it is a heads up depending on the state you can sue for the car and the inspection fee
I feel sorry for the plaintiff, she needs serious help. Including rehab because her body language and the way she speak was off. God bless her soul.

It never ceases to amaze me that plaintiff/people like this exist in the world.
Rule of thumb -
1.) when buying used - have it checked by a mechanic BEFORE you sign/buy. If they rush you or pressure you DO NOT buy it.
2.) as is means as is. It’s up to YOU as the buyer to inspect the car. Once you pay for the car, it’s all on you.
3.) if the seller claims the car has no issues, is running great, etc. get that in writing
Could you get your money back if you get that writing and bring it up in court? Or that still as is?
@@cagadaif the product is being advertised in a better condition than it actually is, and you buy it under the assumption that the seller was being truthful but lied you may have a case. Plaintiffs have gotten their money back because of false advertising. But at the same time it is up to the buyer to check the product before hand to ensure that it is working properly. It’s really a case by case scenario, but in general used items are sold as is unless otherwise specified by a warranty or return policy.

This plaintiff is crazy! She has eleven geckos and two dogs yet she can't even take care of herself. Her situation is not the defendants problem. When she stormed out after the verdict that just showed thousands of people watching her true character.
She's crazy and angry! Crazy she thought she'd win this case and angry because she didn't. Even if she had the failed inspection, no way was she getting anymore than what she paid.
With everything said, she needs love and the pets are loving unconditionally. I hope she realizes she needs helpand someone is able to help.

You have to pay for the inspection, pass or fail. The reason that she does not have a field inspection report is because she did not pay for the failed inspection.
And yes, the defendant was offering to take the car to a garage where she believed they were going to just pass the car without inspecting it. But I think that the plaintiff was more out to get money from the defendant as opposed to actually getting a drivable car.
If u come to court, u need the right kind of proof.

I know someone similar to the plaintiff. Puts animals above her own wellbeing. She needs a home and can't find one because she has too many pets. And while looking, she gets another freaking pet. I'm like, you need a home but can't get one because everyone says you have too many pets, and you get another pet. Struggling financially and keep getting more pets doesn't make any sense to me. To me, that's animal abuse to get multiple pets, and you can't afford to care for them properly. Just because you love them unconditionally isn't good enough.

For the ones asking or wondering why the judge is going in about her personal life she put it in her statement that she is suing because she was going to live in her car and judge needs to figure out when she wasn't living in the car where was she living at when she's supposed to be homeless and she's also boarding animals it only makes sense that something doesn't seem right including when she was already in a motel and probably could have called her family friends or her ex-husband even though that part is a last effort to do but if it's important like a job and they know that she's going to end up getting paid eventually they might have been like hey when you get paid you pay me back for gas for driving you to work and back to the motel I home not to say it like this but the saying like this she is way too grown do not know or understand
