Such random reference, I just started getting into Haneke this month too. If you get into Bergman don’t watch The Seventh Seal without also watching The Virgin Spring, they really inform each other well.
Also worth noting that The Virgin Spring is the OG Last House on the Left, though it's told and portrayed as Christian folklore rather than as a horror-revenge movie.

I think that if you find yourself enjoying Hanneke movies, you've taken a wrong turn somewhere.
Isn't the whole point that they're not _supposed_ to be enjoyed, just endured? I donno, I have better things to do than watch boring, nasty garbage by dour, cynical old Europeans. If that makes me immature or dumb or whatever, then I am fine with that trade-off, believe me.
