    You should try it from the C perspective.
    Also 1701D coming back could have also ruined peace talks. It would have appeared to be a super weapon and the klingons might have rearmed for war and could have sparked another romulan war too. 1701D alone could beat those 4 warbirds, but it definitely would take a beating.

    • @deksroning125
      @deksroning125 6 месяцев назад

      Don't think the D would take as much beating as you think. 20 years is a long time for technological disparity, so the D would likely make quick work of those warbirds. In fact, if they leveraged the use of all their phaser strips to concentrate firepower on a single ship, its likely they'd be able to destroy one like that in the first shot while releasing a Sierra pattern volley onto another one.
      I'd surmise that the Romulan shields might be able to absorb 3 or 4 of ENT D torpedoes, while the remainder would have destroyed them.

      It would be interesting to compare the two Enterprises. On one hand, War with the Klingons would have made the Enterprise a tougher ship, but would have it been a more advanced ship?? @@chriscepec1655 yes, but the dominion war tales place years after yesterday's enterprise. Starfleet was in full upgrade mode for all its ships and stations in season 3 of ds9, especially following the Borg invasion and with starfleet also knowing what the dominion was capable of (post Odyssey destruction).
      The USS Lakota was upgraded to almost rival the defiant after all. The galaxy class was already very powerful but the dominion had an advantage of intelligence about federation and aq technology from the first 2 years of them sending ships to the gamma quadrant... That's why they were able to overpower the odyssey in the first place and why it failed.
      Before the war began a starfleet was able to retrieve a dominion big fighter after all which likely helped them in insulating their shields from dominion weapons. Basically the UFp managed to finally acquire piece of dominion technology just like the dominion had in the first 2 years of ds9

    So I can see the Romulans retreating after one of their ships were destroyed, but not before taking many detailed sensor scans of the Enterprise-D. They then report this to the Tal'Shiar. They have a new battleship that the Romulans have no counter for. So, they develop the D'deridex class as a response. So! The Enterprise is to blame for the huge warbirds. Oops.

    I thought that the alternate D was more of an upgrade kitted out for war. Then again, it was also probably beaten up fairly badly at that point. I guess that between the ship having been badly pounded, the crew being a bit battle hardened and the fact that the ship was designed after a generation of war, it all probably evened out.

    2:46 I personally like Venom Geek Media's take that these warbirds don't use quantum singularity warp drives yet (which were still in development).
    That would mean a MASSIVE gap in terms of power generation for the D'deridex-class warbirds. The real time strategy game "Star Trek: New Worlds" also has it that the technology is not ready to be deployed aboard starships yet. Unfortunately canon often neglects to take the opportunity to codify such technological advances which makes them seem too easy.

    • @johnassal5838
      @johnassal5838 6 месяцев назад

      It's inaccurate to say that war hastens development, more like the *threat* of war does. Once _at war_ all effort tends to be on more near term and Next Step tech while research into the "next next step" things like jets, atom bombs and stealth all started well before the respective wars where each made their debut. Since this war is alleged to have been going on twenty years it's certain to have all but completely stoped investment into the sort of 'pure research' that only pays dividends in unforseen breakthroughs years later. Not to mention that the Federation is unlikely to have been doing any deep range exploration if it was holding on by its fingernails which would have cut them off from allies or technology picked up from or developed in response to tech that aliens they never encountered had in the Prime timeline. I think this alternate timeline Federation and Enterprise are less advanced and weaker.

      @@johnassal5838 during wartime weapon systems are continuously upgraded so the weapons and shields of the Enterprise d were probably upgraded at least once or twice especially if they were starting to lose. The federation would have started looking for any technological edge they could have gotten over Klingons. You see this in the development of weapons during world war II world war I hell right now in Ukraine.

  • @charlestownsend9280
    @charlestownsend9280 6 месяцев назад

    It would definitely make for an interesting split timeline.
    Maybe the federation would at first want to hide away all the future technology but I could see them reconsider if the romulans begin advancing their technology in response and become a bigger threat in that era, leading to the enterprise D just being to valuable a ship to leave out of the situation. I could also see the crew taking it upon themselves to fix the mess that they caused, especially as they came from a timeline where the federation was losing a prolonged war (maybe having to deal with some prejudice against klingons as they go).

  • @deksroning125
    @deksroning125 6 месяцев назад

    A 20 year gap in terms of tech can make a substantial difference to weapons and shields.
    So, yeah, if the ENT-D went back with the C to the past, the Romulans would have likely engaged them both at first (not knowing how advanced the D was). The D would likely be able to destroy 2 of the Romulan ships, and the other 2 would definitely try to retreat after witnessing just how outmatched they were.
    In fairness, I don't think the Romulans would have been able to take that much of a barrage from the D's weapons as seen in this simulation. 20 years is quite a long time, especially for exponential developments.
    Remember that the ENT-D was similarly comparable to a single D'Deridex class at the time it was released into active service... hence why I think these old Romulan ships wouldn't have stood a chance.
    In fact, if the D timed its firepower effectively, it would likely be able to quickly destroy or severely damage all 4 ships. Just go into 'overload' mode with phasers by leveraging all phaser strips to fire at all 4 ships at the same time, then simultaneously release 6 torpedoes into 2 of them (aka, three per each).
    Quickly repeat, and the Romulans wouldn't stand a chance.
    The problem I see here is that the timeline would end up being changed because the Romulans would now be exposed to a much newer design from Starfleet... but in turn, if the ENT-D gives its knowledge and technology to the Starfleet of the era, they'd probably be able to retrofit their ships easily and fast... especially in terms of torpedoes.
    Plus the D likely has schematics of all the upgrades SF made to older classes of ships and how they did it... so in effect, they could easily stay ahead of the Romulans like that (remember that OBSERVING the more advanced tech in play would not by itself give the Romulans the advantage - they may be MOTIVATED to develop better technology sooner as a result, but that would only matter if the ENT-D left to return to its own future without giving SF of the past anything).

  • @novaiscool1
    @novaiscool1 6 месяцев назад

    The C doesn't need to be destroyed if all the Romulan ships are for the Klingons to see the act of bravery. Their coming to the aid of the Klingon people and giving the Romulans hell matters a great deal to the Klingons, and falling back and gaining support isn't an unknown move even for Klingons. It might not be the same level of enthusiasm given the federation flagship didn't sacrifice itself and it's crew entirely for them, but I feel like the sentiment would still be there.

    also what would temporal investigations male of this whole debacle since they have changed the timeline because sela no longer is born. so now picard would have a different romulan to face off against in the klingon civil war.
    also what about the fact that would be two different picards floating around in the same universe one i command of the alternate enterprise d and the other on the stargazer. so imagine an alternate universe where there are two picards and two rikers running around plus we have lore and data. in fact there are likely 3 rikers if riker still has his transporter hijinks. also two laforge's and two yar's.
