      Agreed. And good video as well, though I tire of hearing "failed" or "mistakes" when referring to different ships. There are some videos that refer to the Galaxy class as a failure though there is ZERO canon evidence to suggest thats true. Thats like saying WW2 carriers were failures because they were replaced by super carriers. Times change as do deaign priorities and philosophy

      @@timothycantor4488 Thank you very much! And sorry you tire of such things, but this channel only reports what has been seen in Alpha and Beta Canon in those regards, and the truth is it makes sense. Not only should some classes fail, as that's the reality of life, but the lack of Ambassador Class ships in the Federation, fighting in the Dominion War etc, follows this idea! Take care :)

    Even though some of the ships aren't necessarily 'canon', watching your video presentations almost gives the flavor of sitting through a series of STA lectures on the history of federation ship design. Your synopsis of each ship is brilliantly done, with a short history on each class's namesake, and what led to the design & features of each one. I really look forward to watching each new release, not to mention rewatching older presentations. They always hold my rapt attention, and as an older ST model builder, (I watched the premier of Star Trek back Sept. 8, 1966 as an 11 year old kid & bought the AMT kits as soon as my hobby shop began carrying the kits themselves), your small lectures inspire me to work on designing & building some of these ships in a scale worthy of them.
    It never ceases to amaze me with how you come up with all of the material for each one. In fact, I personally believe that you should come up with your own hardcopy book on federation ship design & recognition. I can't honestly speak for anyone else but myself, but I would be pleased to buy any books of that nature that might be put together by you. Kudos to a LOT of fantastic work on your part & many thanks for putting each one together!!

    I feel the Narendra class is an underdog class. I kind of really like it, and I feel it’s a class born out of both the failure of the Ambassador class and the breakthrough of isolinear chip technology to supersede duotronic technology. Personally I gotta wonder: did Harriman get his promotion on a Tuesday?

    The Narendra is gorgeous! Not hating on the Galaxy, but, I think this should have been the design for Enterprise D, probably would have made a better transfer to feature films, but then we wouldn't have got the sleek and mighty Sovereign class!

    Thing that stood out most to me as an interesting tidbit, is the overlapping of time…in the series, there’s such a noticeable gap between TOS and TNG…to hear references of Harriman still being around and in starfleet when Picard was a captain is something that’s always interesting
    Something contextually similar to something my dad asked when he began attending Burch with my mother, noting about the genealogy listed in genesis between the time of adam and the time of Noah, expressing some curiosity about which of those noted names would have been alive at the time of the flood

    I really do prefer the Probert designed ship. It's quite elegant and fits perfectly between the Excelsior and Galaxy classes. Though, I'd say was the offical Ambassador that much of a failure? After all, the Enterprise C was up against 4 warbirds. Then again, we don't see much of the class, so there's that.

    I love the Galaxy, Intrepid, and Excelsior mixes in the build. The story feels like it gives life to what the Ambassador should have been rather Galaxy-Light that it felt like at first, with a name giving weight to the events where another lady named Enterprise and her captain helped shape the galaxy for the better, one act of honor and kindness at a time. Yeshua bless you friend! You act in the same tradition each time you post and share your creativity in a world needing to remember there is hope. ^.^

  • @larqven0192
    @larqven0192 Год назад

    I liked a lot of this. The Ambassador does indeed look bulky with advanced, but half baked, designs. We see the short phaser strips, the bulky nacells and general massive, bulbous appearance. The Ambassador is an enormous ship for its time and represents an enormous use of resources. That the these big ships weren't working as well as they should would indeed have been an embarrassment and loss of confidence. Especially if the Excelsior class wasn't up to heavy combat anymore, and their costly replacements, the Ambassadors, weren't the ultra heavy cruiser they were meant to be either.
    Despite the close connection with the Ambassador, the Narendra really can't be seen as the same class; it's too different. The shapes are different, it's more elegant, with a smaller scale, despite a nearly identical length to the Ambassador. While still a heavy cruiser, the Narendra weight class is significantly lighter than the massive Ambassador. On the other hand, its advanced tech might well make up the difference; Its phaser strips and smaller nacelles suggest problems have been worked out, technologies have been perfected and that the Galaxy project is feasible. Rather than being designed a a relative few years after the launch of the Ambassador, it might have been several years of struggling with the Ambassador class, the Narendra being a relative svelte interim design to prove new technology first before investing in even more colossal starships.
    I liked the idea that the 2nd starship was meant to be the new Enterprise D. With the Enterprise C something of a 'failure' for its loss and beta canon shenanigans, combined with the misrepresentations of the Ambassador class in general, I could imagine why the Enterprise lineage might be suspended for quite some time. The name intended to be used for a new class that was capable of replacing the Ambassadors, but then being held back some more for the culmination of the Galaxy project. The long gap between Enterprise ships being indicative of some ongoing political issues.
    This sort of 'explains' the 'wrong' ship frieze used on the conference room wall. While it might never have existed, the Narendra Enterprise made its appearance in spirit as decor in the Galaxy D, sort of cutting out the Ambassador Enterprise.

  • @jmwoods190
    @jmwoods190 11 месяцев назад

    Amazing Beta-Canon you've created for the Narendra Class and the (political) rehabilitation of the unjustly maligned John Harriman! My only tiny nitpick is that I would've put the Enterprise C's length of service up to 12 years, which was the most commonly cited timeframe in most other beta canon. Otherwise everything's perfect!
    PS My headcanon atop of yours: Admiral Harriman initially wanted to include the Narendra Class's advanced curved pylons onto the Galaxy Class's design, but under immense pressure from Federation President Jaresh Inyo(who was elected in 2355 and served until 2373), he was forced to drop the idea and went for an upscaled version of the Excelsior Class's pylons instead. Upon discovering this Captain Jean-Luc Picard was so appalled by President Inyo's pettiness that he put the Narendra Class in place of the Enterprise C's Ambassador Class(whose design flaws accelerated her & her crew's demise) in the display shelf in his ready room, as Harriman was his hero and mentor during his his early Starfleet days. This Defiant Act would result in the political fallout between Picard and Inyo due to the latter's misplaced antipathy towards Harriman.

    • @TriAngulumAudioStudios
      @TriAngulumAudioStudios  2 года назад +2

      Sorry Jeffrey, you are incorrect... The blame doesnt lie at Paramounts feet, the blame lies at the feet of the production team. The budget per episode is set way in advance of the season. And it is up to the production team to divert the budget where nessasary. And they did, creating the model of the Enterprise C as they wanted it.
      Unfortunately, the model was needed much sooner than the time it would take to fabricate the smoother lines of Probert's concept, requiring Sternbach's alterations which ended up on Greg Jein's final model.
      It had absolutely NOTHING to do with budget... You need to stop placing blame at Paramount and CBS every time you make a comment, as you have yet to be correct!

    According to the internet the enterprise b was built by the systems alliance navy in the port next to the SR2 normandy as it was in spacedock being repaired and after commander shepherd surrendered to earth.
    How about that mix up????

    Beta Canon is far from worthless, you always point out that any information is just a kittle fun and should be taken with a little pinch of stardust.
    I could not recall the Narendra Class, but it sounds like Harriman outdid himself, bringing practical skills and a users understanding of what was needed to the redesign of the Ambassador class.

    I like the story regarding the history of the ship; however, it still does not explain the wall display onboard the Enterprise D. If we really want to include the "Narrendra class" as cannon to explain its shadowy existence in Star Trek, then I think it's limited appearance needs a better explanation. It is possible it was constructed and somehow one of the ships was indeed christened as the Enterprise-C. In fact, it was probably deliberately done to hide the embarrassment of the failure of the original Ambassador class resulting in the destruction of the 1st Enterprise-C. The Narendra class is seen as a refit for the Ambassador class, similar to what happened with the Constitution class. Reason why not all Ambassador class ships were replaced is probably because not all of them had issues which the original C suffered from, likely due to the crews of each ships finding solution to fix the problems that plagued the Ambassador fleet. Since these crew built modifications improved their ships, there probably wasn't a justification to get rid of them.

      It doesnt need to be explained, as Trek did what it often does, it retconned that display... So although you might see the Narendra Class on the wall, Canon has told us it is not! Case closed!

    • @_vortech_
      @_vortech_ Месяц назад

      @TriAngulumAudioStudios I know Trek has an extensive history of doing that - which I absolutely detest and think it's just a lazy way of writers avoiding discussion of a subject matter. I wish they had more creative insight to explain the noticeable discrepancies. Your story shows more creative effort in explaining the history of the ship than what they pulled off.

    • @TriAngulumAudioStudios
      @TriAngulumAudioStudios  Месяц назад

      Thank you... But my story isnt designed to complain about what Trek does or doesn't do, but rather to give a satisfying explanation for the retcon... And to be honest, expecting Trek to explain every retcon would actually be bad writing, not what they did for Yesterday's Enterprise which is seen by fandom as one of the best episodes of TNG!

    Maybe I am showing my age, but I disliked the Ambassador and most of the "project Galaxy" class ships. Maybe it is just me, but to my 50 year old eyes, They are not as aesthetically pleasing at the later Intrepid and Sovereign classes and their looks were not worthy successors to the TOS/TMP style ships. I just found them ugly due to their extreme width when compared to their length. "Short and stubby" is how I would describe them.

    Why is everyone against the screen used Ambassador Class? It's a failure this and a failure that... No it is not. The Enterprise C (screen used Ambassador Class) singled handedly took on 4 warbirds. Yea she lost. But her efforts allowed there to be piece between the Klingons and Federation. The Enterprise D couldn't even handle 3 K'vort Class Bird of Prey's (they where referred to as battle cruisers in Yesterday's Enterprise which is silly) I'll take the screen used Ambassador Class over the Narendra Class any day. Plus the weapons layout (phaser's) made way more sense when compared to the Galaxy Class.

    @1:29; Ungood. Enterprise-B was an Excelsior class. Enterprise-C or "Charlie variant" was an Ambassador class. The kinked pylons were the biggest "gaffe".
    Beyond that, another top quality vid. Many thanx.

    The Enterprise D couldn’t handle so many at one time.

    • @TriAngulumAudioStudios
      @TriAngulumAudioStudios  2 года назад +1

      You need to pay better attention to the video... No where does it say that the Ambassador Class was a failure because of the Enterprise C's Battle! The Ambassador Class was a failure because basically, Starfleet threw it together, utilizing New Technology (Isolinear Tech) mixed with old Technology (Duotronic Tech) without testing it first!

      @@TriAngulumAudioStudios I don’t need to listen better. I watched the previous video concerning the Ambassador class as well as this one.
      The premise from your last video was that the Enterprise should have fared better in the fight at Narendra. I don’t think that’s fair to the Enterprise crew after reviewing more about the ship and what happened.
      I still like your videos though ✌️

    • @TriAngulumAudioStudios
      @TriAngulumAudioStudios  2 года назад +1

      Actually, you do, because if you HAD listened to the video, then you wouldnt have asked "How is the Ambassador be a failure when it was destroyed fighting four Romulan warbirds?" since no where was that even suggested. The failure of the class has has nothing to do with the Ent C! So your entire comment is moot!
      And thank you, I still appreciate your support! :)

      Yeah, No!
      Definition of Grandstanding; acting or speaking in a way intended to attract attention and to influence the opinion of people who are watching.
      What it's actually called is good storytelling, exactly what my audience expects, which is why you are the only one whining about it... So if you don't like it, you know where the door is! You're not that important, and this channel will continue to grow and do just fine without you!
      PS, In the future, you might want to know the definition of the words/ terms you use in order to prevent embarrassment again! Cya!
