Hi friends! Do you have any areas in your home that you want to declutter and refresh?

This is my favourite kind of video- just love anything to do with cupboards and makeovers. I would love to see you clean or organize or decorate any compartment no matter how large, as in wall papering a room, or just cleaning out the glovebox of a car. From watching your other videos I just wanted to say I like your taste in decorating and all the things from Christmas and the things in your kitchen too. It's just lovely what you do. I have a million times less amount of things mainly due to the size of my tiny house, but thankyou for talking in the comments about the amount of cleaners in your cupboards. The whys and hows of what anyone does is interesting and helpful so another thankyou for all the time and effort it takes to research the science behind some of the concepts you relay to us in the videos- no pressure though!

Your laundry room turned out amazing! Love the wallpaper. What a cheerful place to do laundry. I want to tackle mine now. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks! I love it so much. It always makes me feel cheerful when I go in there. It’s also easier to keep clean because of how I feel inside. I didn’t realize how much its run down state was dragging me down before. So go for it!

Hi there! It is so easy to get overwhelmed. For those that stay at home or work from home I think it can be worse because you just never get away. You did a great job and are an inspiration to take on one task at a time working as you can either physically or financially. Fresh paint makes such a difference. The space is so new and reenergized. The wallpaper is so pretty! And you hung it like a pro! The whole laundry room is beautifully done. Thanks for sharing and hope you have a wonderful weekend. XO

So true! I really have to work on remembering to pace myself. As badly as I want to, I can’t get it all done so I’m just focusing on doing one small thing at a time and being grateful that I had the strength to do it. I’ve been remembering what Paul said about having an infirmity that he wishes the Lord would heal and yet, it caused him to be humble and seek the Lord more. It’s a good thought for me right now and the Lord understands where I am and what I can do better than I. I means a lot to hear from you. You’re so busy that it is kind for you to make the sacrifice of time to support me. Thanks so much.

I wonder why people buy so many cleaning supplies. I use a cleanser, vinegar, and Dawn dish soap. That's it! Nice room, and it looks like you don't need to buy anymore for at least a year. Lol

    • @TowardsASimpleLife
      @TowardsASimpleLife  7 месяцев назад +4

I love Dawn too! When I'm just wiping things down (cabinets, countertops, walls), I just use a spray bottle with water and a little Dawn in it. I've given up with Mrs. Meyers and other cleaners like them. Expensive and they just don't work for me. I'm always worried about using vinegar, because you can't use it on granite countertops.
I do have a lot of cleaning supplies, but they all have different uses, like carpet cleaners.
I grew up in a farmer-family and we were raised to have 1-year supplies of important cleaning supplies, paper goods, and food. Our church also teaches that. This practice has saved us a number of times over our 48-years of marriage when we’ve had employment or financial problems. Cleaning this closet out showed me that while we have too much of some things (hand soap!), I need to buy some more of a few things like dishwasher soap. We burn through it.
Only having one of everything would scare me. We’ve had too many times when we needed something and we didn’t have money to buy it. We try to be more prepared now. (Preparation isn’t cluttering.)
All of that Comet you saw is getting donated. I didn’t know we had it and I don’t use it anymore. Ha!

I agree with your opinion on storing some items. I, too, grew up on a farm. You just never knew when the electricity would go out or you were snowed in.

Your thoughts on avoidance are so true. My worst area is my "sewing room". It happens to be the back end of my master bedroom. I really have a tough time keeping it cleaned up. I've always got too many projects going at once. So they pile up. Thanks for your ideas.

I am really enjoying your decluttering videos, but have a question. How do you do so much physical work with your fibromyalgia? I find I tire so easily that I can only do about 1/2 an hour at a time, but you work like a Trojan. I am so jealous. Any tips for me? Love the laundry room!!!

Oh ha- the magic of editing! Sometimes, you can see it in the shirts I’m wearing because there are so many changes in a single video. I will do a little and rest. (Sometimes only 10-15 minutes.) And then do some more. When I do something larger - like this project - even though I tried to be really careful and it took more than a week of short efforts, I paid for it and couldn’t do much for a couple of weeks afterwards.
The little bit I did in the garage caused another couple of weeks crash.
Before I got Long Covid a couple of years ago, my Fibro flares were shorter and less frequent and I could do more. Now I struggle more and I have to be more careful. I’m currently in a 3-week bad spell (because heat is hard for me) and hope it lifts soon. I’m so over it.
I just recorded a video this morning about how to clean when you’re tired, which isn’t much, but I have come up with some survival methods I’m sharing. It will come out next Friday.
Have you seen the video about managing your energy with the colored dots? I really use that technique and it’s how know when it’s time to knock it off. It’s taught me to be more patient.
I really, really look forward to the wonderful periods when I feel sort of normal. My challenge is always to quit BEFORE I get too tired because I tend to get excited and do too much.
      Having Fibro isn’t fun.
I still adore the wallpaper! I’m glad you like it. It was worth what I went through afterwards because it always makes me happy to see it. Sometimes, I just need to do something that makes me happy instead of always worrying about how I might feel in a couple of days.
      Hope that helps!
