13:06 Dreams of steel and oil only targets creatures and artifacts, so you probably should have flashed in the hexcatcher (: Enjoying all the videos of this list (:
Last season I played merfolks as well, won the qualifier play in and did 3-3 in the qualifier. I ve run a lower to the ground version (with new kaito and unctus for card draw) and the hardest match ups have been against Boros burn and dimir midrange, both very popular xD But against everything else we have a very good match up, especially golgari, the video’s title is on point !
There's a lose all abilities card that gives defender you lose flash from eaten by piranhas. It's great against the pump spell decks because they can't attack with the creature you enchanted. Sad to see the 3/4 sentinel didn't make the cut I've been trying to build an explore package merfolk based on agathas cauldron and researcher making infinite tokens but its kinda hard and janky. I'm looking forward to seeing what your competition merfolk end up looking like!
sorry for the spam:D Harbringer of the tides (also just casting it for 2) and the whale for 6 flash might be good sideboards vs red. maybe brineborn to race them. Thoughts?
Harbinger is a great choice here but I think Brineborn and the Whale aren't really going to help. I ended up testing some other cards that I will be talking about in tomorrow's video!
I know you mentioned that players in your area are playing mostly midrange, but for an RCQ a lot more people will show up and there is definitely going to be red/gruul players since that is 15-20% of the meta. The deck as it stands has probably a 20% win rate against red which seems rough. Maybe trying some more removal and defensive options in the side board would help? Maybe hard-hitting question, herbology instructor, monstrous emergence, stuff like that
@@Icecreaam97 Great point here! Untapped.gg data shows that we are currently 44% win rate against red-based aggro in total, so hopefully we can get more percentages with some better card selection like you’ve mentioned! Thank you so much for the recommendations! I’ll have to do some testing!
Unsummon is a card I’ve found to work better, over floodmaw, just because of its duality to play as two different cards: your regular tempo denier OR a pseudo protection spell for your board. Works great for flash creatures 🎉
@@magusofthefrogsome ones gotta do it when the shuffler keeps feeding you lands 😅 gotta love when you get bonus draws and they end up all being lands 😭
@@claus-d4n It’s possible, Gloomlake Verge is a land that can tap for black if you have an island in play. You could use that instead of Basic Islands but you’d have to get more islands in the deck by switching the manlands (Restless Vinestalk) into the surveil lands (Hedge Maze). Same thing with Thornspire Verge but that’s trickier since it initially taps for Red instead of Green.
cool channel, great deck. red seems like a tough matchup for sure. will think about it
This deck was really sweet and I also like the way you talk about your decisions. Instant sub!!

Damn, what a great deck, im missing just 2 rares to craft this up, i think ill make it tonight
Thank you for that! I think it is indeed a great deck, and there's still a lot to learn with it!

searious question: can we change lands so that we have R/B as main and sideboard options?
