I made one of these for the Linus project, but I'd love to make a rectangular one on my couch. I was wondering if it would work the same way if I just made a longer chain like the Granny Square retangulars?
I love the fact that you are working on a black background! It makes it so much easier to see and doesn't strain my eyes as so many others do. And instead of using your finger to point to a stitch, you use a needle to demonstrate where to hook. Thank you for making things so easy for this easily confused learner! 💟
Oh I am so glad it was helpful to you, dorobensea! Thank you. 🌼🌸🌼
I'm a self taught crocheter , & I so appreciate you use of a needle to literally point certain things out! This tutorial is very easy to follow.
Oh I am so glad it was helpful to you, Emily Thompson! My other tutorials are here: ruclips.net/p/PLpolLUf9SLHgx42hUZEW9HCfsU1oqRxbU Thank you!! 🌼🌸🌼
I just finished this using baby blanket yarn which measures 50 x 51”. I’m almost 70 and just started crocheting with this Covid stay at home. You are a very good teacher. I’m legally blind and could enlarge the picture and see where a stitch was supposed to go. Thank you so much. Wish I could send you a picture.
Me too.
Oh I am so glad it was helpful to you, @susanheath8744! Thank you!! 🌼🌸🌼
I love how this pattern changes yarn but no cut and snip like most patterns
Oh I am so glad you love it, @SuperAnimal101! Thank you!! 🌻🌺🌼
I’ve always struggled to figure out whether the loop that starts a stitch is the loop to count when making the next row, or whether it’s the loop coming out of the stitch instead, especially on stitch ups. You made it super clear, thanks!!!
I have been crocheting for over 60 years. This is the first person who has explained this. Thank you
Oh I am so glad, @alainagibbons1981! Thank you!! 🌸🌼🌺
I love how u point to which stitch u work into, this is my number one struggle following videos, thank you for taking the time to do that
you all probably dont give a shit but does any of you know a tool to log back into an instagram account?
I was dumb lost my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Ralph Arjun Instablaster =)
@Jayce Edward I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Jayce Edward It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out :D
@Ralph Arjun glad I could help xD
Hi! amazing tutorial! is there a way to make this pattern rectangular? thanks!!
Would it be easy to make this pattern in the round? How would you do it? My g-daughter is begging me for this but round. BTW, she loves your yarn room!
Just my luck. It’s currently out of stock on 3/4/2020, but I signed up to be notified when its back in stock. Thanks for listing everything you used. I’ve been away from crochet for 2 decades and having to relearn everything. Lol. Love ur stuff!
Oh I am so glad it was helpful to you, @sometimesiwander7146! Thank you!! 🌼🌸🌼
I made this for my grandniece. In different colors. It still looked as beautiful. Nevertheless I bought Piccasso yarn. I'm making another one soon. I'm making the polka dot now. Thank you for such great patterns.
Oh I am so glad, @irenediego7260! Thank you!! 🌸🌼🌺
Thank you for the tutorial, I'm on round 11, so far so good with my trial yarn for the dog's blanket - he's gonna love it! 🤓❤️🤓
That's awesome, Lisa P! xx
Wow! Christa you just made it so easy for me to understand this pattern. You’re a fantastic teacher!!!!
Thank you!!!

Awe! Thank you so much, Belinda L! xx
I have tried this 9 times now and I cannot get past the ending of the first square and the start of the second
were you ever able to figure it out?
@@Goldenretriever-k8m Yes and it is literally one of my favorite blankets to make. =)
@@LisaHowardStormytexn what yarn did you use?
@@Goldenretriever-k8m I initially used Caron Simply Soft and it was difficult to work with. I have since done in many other yarns with no issue.
I love the visual impact with that yarn you used....
Thanks, Molly Crochets! xx
I made it! Thank you so much ! My daughter loves it. I did a changing yarn and solid grey colour yarn and it came out amazing! SO HAPPY for this vidéo. Super easy to make. I am now going to make a bigger one for myself 🥰
That's awesome, Jan2018! Thank you!! 🌸👍🌺
Thank you for the very clear and easy to follow instructions throughout the video - including how to create additional rows for a larger blanket. I have just completed mine and am very happy with the outcome.
Oh I am so glad it was helpful to you, @annalester2619! That's awesome! Thank you!! 🌼🌸🌼
I have made 4 of these blankets. I love this pattern. You are a good teacher. I don’t know how to send you pictures of them.
Hi, Susan Heath!! You can email me! christa@secretyarnery.com Thank you! 🌻🌺🌼
Hello! I just started making this, and the yarn details aren’t opening for me, so could you please tell me if 100 grams of yarn from each ball is enough to complete at least one baby blanket? Thank you! Also happy new year 🎆 :)
I ran across this tutorial when I was scrolling through videos, then lost track of it. It popped up again tonight, and I was so glad to find it again. Your teaching style is so clear and easy to follow! As a left-handed crocheted, I have to look very closely and make sure I understand what is going on. Your style is so easy to follow! I appreciate you so much! I intend to make this blanket in the near future. Thanks so much for another great tutorial.
Oh I am so glad it was helpful to you, Mary Hoge! Thank you. 🌼🌸🌼
Christa, any chance of a rectangular version , please ? - it'd make a brilliant bedspread ! :)
Hi Christa I would like to add a simple border, which one would you recommend? Thanks for a lovely tutorial x
17 ppl who disliked this suck. This is a beautiful blanket
Awe! Thank you so much, Sharmain Benton! xx
I love this blanket and I tried it, but my blanket doesn’t look nice and square. It looks a little bit off why please help 😢
This is perfect! I just thought “hmm I think I’ll make a granny square style blanket, but spiraled with two different colors... I wonder if there’s a RUclips video for that.” Your’s was the first one the video list so I didn’t need to look further since you did so well explaining. You explained everything very thoroughly! And I love how you poke into the stitches with a knitting needle. That’s a confusing part with many tutorials. Thank you so much!
Oh I am so glad you liked it, frances simecki! Thanks!🌻🌺🌼
I really liKe this. I have made I have made this my mother taught me many years ago.. Thank You. I am looking forward to making this for someone very special on my pray list. Thank You many times over.!!!
Any chance you'd consider doing a rectangular version?
Great idea, poketvenus! 👍 Thank you!! 🌺🌼🌸
Mine is actually coming out more rectangular. Lol
Love the pattern, made a few for the Linus Foundation. Can it be converted to a rectangle? I've been trying to figure that out.
I love how u describe everything so thoroughly ❤️ thank u
Oh I am so glad it was helpful to you, VonKat Artistry! Thank you. 🌼🌸🌼
Thank you soooooo much Christa I've been dying to start this What a gorgeous looking blanket I think I'll be making a few of these, not just with my Picasso but also with some other yarns from my treasure chest 💕🐨
Oh I am so glad you like it, Simone Maffey! Thank you!! xx
Have you done a video for doing this with three skeins? BTW - this pattern has been shared by me lots of times in a FB group.
This is one of my favorites. It’s a gorgeous blanket. And quick. I easily made two using the suggested yarn. Thank you smooches.
Oh I am so glad, mralwjenkins! Thank you!! 🌸🌼🌺
how long did it take? im a knitter and it takes forever so im learning crochet for blankets specifically
I dropped all my WIPS to start this blanket. I have a beautiful color changing yarn called Isis, made in Italy, but it's a ribbon yarn so I wasn't sure if it would work. I'm using a baby soft white acrylic with it and it is just absolutely gorgeous only 8 rows in. Thank you for this tutorial!!
Oh I am so glad, Jo Ann Prince! Thank you!! xx
I found that when I followed your pattern my sides (particularly the corners) tended to life. Somehow I ended up having the opposite corners being a 1 dc and the other two being a 2 dc and I chain 3 instead of 2 and it works out better. Is it because of my tension or my yarn?
You mentioned rectangle, how would you do that? I’m intrigued….
I wonder if this could be done as a star blanket...have you considered that as a pattern variation? Please do.
I LOVE♥️♥️♥️ how the picasso looks against that clean, crisp white. I'm thinking I'll use my ice yarns mirella with white for this pattern.
Thank you for all the hard work that you do to educate us Christa. Keep up the FAB work. Loving you all the way from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺
Awe! Thank you so much, @kazaussieyarnaholic5503! 🌺🌷🌺
could you make this with more colors, like with 4 colors instead of 2? How would you do that?
I absolutely love the look of this pattern. I think I am the only one who is having issues by the look of things but I have to do your skinny corners as my regular corners and your regular corners as my fat corners every 3 rows or my blanket doesn't work up flat. I just had to flip flop things so it didn't get all wavy. I don't know what I'm doing differently but its working up wonderfully since I made that change. Thank you for sharing your pattern in this amazing tutorial that is so easy to follow!!
Sounds fabulous, Melissa Miller! SO glad you could figure that out on your own! BRAVO!!! Thanks! 🌺🌷🌸
I appreciate the way you clearly point out which stitch to work into. This is such a great tutorial! I have made this once already. I recently purchased 2 different cake yarns on sale-not enough of either to make a blanket (impulse buy😀) I’m going to try using them together with this pattern. Thank you for sharing this!💗🧶
Oh I am so glad it was helpful to you, @StitchinGranny! My other tutorials are here: ruclips.net/p/PLpolLUf9SLHgx42hUZEW9HCfsU1oqRxbU Thank you!! 🌼🌸🌼
Can you make a spiral blanket like this with single crochet?
Is anyone having issues starting the twirl? That is my biggest issue w this pattern. Otherwise- love it
This is beautiful, amazing, visual impact using Picasso yarn I can’t believe it!! Thank you very much for this wonderful tutorial ☺️
Merry christmas 🎄
Oh I am so glad you liked it, @mariadelpillarm.7545! Thank you!! 🌻🌺🌼
I absolutely love the colors and look of this blanket. I have my first great-granddaughter on the way and she is definitely getting at least one of the blankets. Thank you so, so much for sharing the pattern and tutorial with us.
Oh I am so glad you liked it, @pennyhalbert1280! Thanks!🌻🌺🌼
Yes! I've been waiting for this ❤
Me too!
Awe! Thank you so much, Sindy Rentas arroyo, and Missy and Jenn! You guys are awesome! xx
@@SecretYarnery I'm confused. I clicked on the links and i don't know which colors and how many of each are needed to make this blanket. Could you tell me, please? Love from Australia ☺️😘❤️
I am so impressed how you teach. You explain how and where the stitches go. Thank you so much.
Oh I am so glad it was helpful to you, @debbieroberts1276! Thank you!! 🌼🌸🌼
Thank you so much for this!! I've been hoping you'd do a video on this gorgeous blanket. I purchased 10 or 12 patterns of yours a couple of weeks ago so hubby said I needed to use at least some of the ones I bought first before buying anymore 😂
Oh thank you so much, Dawn Montgomeryl! You are the BEST!! xx
Dawn Montgomery you listen to that guy? (Just joking, I need an armed guard to stop me buying yarn!)
@@chrissiewindsor I'm beginning to think I might need one too😂
Do you have a tutorial on a spiral baby hat? To match the blanket.
How difficult would this be to do with more than just 2 colors ? 🤔
I'm just now starting this blanket but the new Picasso yarn seems to be a finer weight like a 2 or 3 whereas the Saver White I got to go with it seems like a 4. Now I don't know what to do... as one yarn looks bigger than the other and not sure if I should continue? Do you have. recommendation of another white yarn that is a little thinner to match the lighter weight Picasso yarn? I heard you mention Baby Soft but website says it's a weight 4 as well. Thanks to anyone that can help me out with this problem.
Hi, Karna R.!! Favorite or Softly baby are good options if you have them. Thank you! 🌻🌺🌼
Hey Krista can you make this with only one strand
Thank you soooooooo much Christa. I have been eagerly waiting for this wonderful tutorial. I have a great niece and a great nephew due in July and August. I'm going to be stash busting for the next six months making cool things for our new bubbies 😊 Kim in New Zealand
Oh I am so glad, Kim Mattler! Thank you!! xx
Don't know if I missed it in the video or maybe you just didn't say it. I was wondering what size your blanket finished at. I have yarn at home that I want to use for this and this would help me know if I have enough yarn or not. Thank you!
Hi, Michele Dubois!! Mine is baby blanket size - about 1.2m square. Could make it bigger, but not enough time! Thank you! 🌻🌺🌼
I love your instructions ❣️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 finally found someone that really breaks it down 👏🏻 also love how you point the various stitch’s out with the needle ☺️ simple and you make it so easy to follow. Thank you for being your wonderful self 🤩🌻
Oh I am so glad, suzie queue! Thank you!! 🌸🌼🌺
Love this pattern! Do you have a written version? Don't see it when I click on the link for your patterns.
Hi, wytchywmn9!! I sure do! Let me look for it... secretyarnery.com/products/easy-spiral-picasso-baby-blanket?_pos=1&_sid=f1b09615d&_ss=r 🌻🌺🌼
Hey, Mildred Lake, I was just gonna say the same thing. Definately makes it easy to see.
Would love to do this in just rainbow its roo difficult for me
Hello from the UK. Crista, may I ask where you purchased/or it's makers name the yarn winder extention block you showed in on of your videos, that you use with your Stanwood winder please? Many thsanks. Loves, hugs and xx xx xx
How can I make this using only one color?
With thus pattern can you use a worsted weight 3?
It's beautiful. It seems like I'm the only one that is confused.
Hi, mrsardw!! Sorry!
Very lovely blanket. I have never purchased from Ice Yarn, can I ask if Picasso is soft enough? I am worried that it might be scratchy for a blanket.
I purchased some Picasso in three different colour ways and they're all soft, really soft 🙂
Thanks, Simone Maffey! xx
Hi, Claire Violet Shen!! Yes - Absolutely! xx
@@SecretYarnery Thanks so much for responding to my question, will go navigate their website. Is your link affiliated? If yes I will click that.
I love it thank you! I follow you from El Salvador in Central America and love to make crochet blankets. I just have a question: Would you say this is a practical blanket for an adult man? I need to make one for a relative and just love this pattern but I wonder if it's the right shape for a man thanks again
Can you make this in the large weight yarn?
This looks fantastic. Do you have a cat purring in the background?
Hi, Sam Howard!! It was either a French or English Bulldog... suspect it was my late Frenchie... awe!!! Thank you! 🌻🌺🌼
Gorgeous Yarn and Fantastic Tutorial, thank you so much. Your pointing out the exact parts of a stitch to go into for beginners is fantastic. I am not a Beginner, but you explained it all perfectly, I can see I will be checking out a lot more of your Tutorials from now on. Thank you so much .
Oh thank you so much, Cindy Wendtl! xx
This would not work for me because I do not like using stich markers. This is not an easy blanket.
Thanks for sharing, Deborah LaRive!
Hi Krista I am doing this blanket with ice yarns Picasso and white. With the corners can I just do 2 double crochet, chain 2 and 2 double crochet throughout whole blanket?
How would I do this with just one color?
can this be made as a rectangle for a lap blanket?
Great job Christa!! This is fabulous!! I was telling my friend about this design today and BAM!! you posted this video!! Love it!
Thanks, Deb T! xx
How many skeins if each type of yarn is needed for queen size blanket? Also, my rows are starting to curl. Is there a fix for it?
Thank you
Can I use three or more colors using this method?
How would it change if you wanted to do one color? Three colors? Love this though!! Totally demystified the square spiral for me!
Can you add a third color in this pattern?
What is the exact color of this yarn? I would like to purchase it to make this blanket.
Hi, F1R3_W4LK3R!! Sorry - it looks like it is out of stock. Hopefully they make it again! It's an awesome yarn. 🌻🌺🌼
Is this size 4wt yarn? And can you use any weight? I just got DK from Mary Maxim .I'm trying a baby blanket .new to crochet
Hi, Bunny Gaffney!! It is a think 4, or a thick 3. You can use the yarn you have - just use the hook size recommended on the label! Thank you! 🌻🌺🌼
@@SecretYarnery thank you

I’m struggling with the corner before round five. Mine is so wonky ugh! Will keep trying tho because I love this blanket 😭
Sorry Zan! Hope you have it figured out soon.
I’m determined!
This is gorgeous!! Any tips on how to make it into a rectangle? Thanks for all your great videos!!
I love the fact that it us continuously going and your not stopping at the end of every row and have tons of ends to sew in. I will be making this .

Thanks for your feedback, @francescasutphin8782! 🌴🍨✨
would love to make one for a grandma who sits in a chair how big would I do I say the size of a bed
So pretty! You mention doing the small corners every third round but you put the small corner into round 5, so this confused me???
Hi, Kathy DiPaola!! Yes - the corners don't need to be adjusted when it is so small. Just as it grows. :) 🌻🌺🌼
I’m on my second blanket. Is there a version with three colors by any chance? I can’t visualize how that would even work.
Can't see your work as written is coming in front of your work
Thanks for your feedback, Ritu Oberoi! 🌴🍨✨
If I wanted to do this with 7 colors could I follow the same pattern or would I need to adjust? I'm not good with pattern changing at all!
It is so awesome how you not only talk us through doing it but you also demonstrate how to do it. Thank you so much
Thanks, Deb Nelson! xx
I wish I could afford some othe ice yarn in those colors!

Yayy! Thank you for this tutorial! Been waiting to learn how to make it! So excited to give it a try 😀😀
That's awesome, CbHubs17! xx
I decided to give it a whirl!!! Thanks for being so clear and concise with instruction.
I'm doing mine with Peach #6-Chenille and 8.0 hook. White is 4- acrylic/cotton blend 5.5 hook. I like the contrasts in the mixing if yarn weights. If you've done so before, what are some things that will/might go wrong with my working it this way? Thanks!!
Sounds interesting, CJ Armstrong! I tend to use the same hook size for each project no matter what yarn I am using. Let me know how it goes! 🌺🌷🌸
I cant remember if I left a comment when I finished my spiral granny blanket. Had a look in comments but don't see one from me. So: Thank you so much, it looks beautiful! It worked up really quickly once the spiral got going. I really liked how I could put it down for a few days and come back to it and know exactly what to do next. I also love not having to count stitches and rows. My first blanket (yes, making another! 😃) I did 100% wool, with one cream spiral and one multi-coloured spiral. The second I'm abou to start in 100% cotton and with an ombre effect (I hope) going from light to medium to dark in one of the spirals. I love this pattern heaps and can't thank you enough for your tutorial. Your voice is very pleasant and you explain everything very clearly which, as a beginner, I really appreciate. 🌻🌻🌻
That sounds AMAZING!!! Congratulations!! I am so glad!! xx
