Marty’s Lucretia solo is my favourite of all time
Marty Friedman really got it on this solo.
Lots of people make fun of daves voice including james hetfield but to be honest daves voice is more fitting to rock genres vs james'. Dave has that range, pitch and complexity thats perfect for rock music and ofcourse for metal too whereas james has a laidback voice thats more fitted for country music, and he's voice is even funnier sounding than daves in most times because hes got that accent when he sings.
And why james more popular than dave as a vocalist? Because he's more generally acceptable vocalist. Face it, even Dave admitted vocal is not his strongest suit.
Hetfield has a great metal voice but Dave Mustaine is my favorite voice in metal music and that's my personal choice, I don't care what anyone else thinks lol

For me, Mustaine had one of the most cool and memorable rock/metal voice. And Megadeth albums were so catchy. But since 2001 something went very wrong- first the songs, then the voice )))

The influence of Pantera's Groove Metal at that time is noticeable. Nothing like 80's Thrash Metal.
Because of Pantera's success, every recorded company started forcing other metal bands to start writing songs like them.
This is better than anything Pantera ever did. So much more melodical. Dave is a genius. Youthanasia is so groovy and hard. Some insane riffs and crazy solos here too. Dave's vocal abilities were probably at their best here
I got back then a glimpse of this video on MTV. Then i got out in our "markets" in Romania and got the album. Like in the same day.

At the time when I got this album Youthanasia in the 90's, I was sorely disappointed, especially with this song. Now today, this song is incredible. I guess you live and learn as a metal fan and especially the fact that metal only gets better with age. Love the train chug main riff.
And that's impressive that this song was recorded live in the studio.
