Wow! I've learned some things! I've always been "old school" navigation, but now I'm going to be using the GTN750 more often. Thanks for uploading this very informative video!
Thanks! I also like old school navigation using radios and other land-based beacons. Like this VOR approach is super fun. The GTN750 just makes life easier when you still have steam gauges to use as well. Cheers~
Great tutorial. I watched two other reviews on this C182 RG before yours. The first one wasn't much info, the second one I learned a few things. Then I watched yours, and it is far more superior to the other two, learned so much. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this video. I've recently downloaded the Caranedo C182 and am currently familiarizing myself with the GTN750. This video has been a huge help. How far Flight Sims have come !!!!
Very nice review sir! Because I am a real live pilot of this aircraft (OO-FKV) I can say with knowledge that the performance of this Carenado creation is more than close to reality. It was once different. In real live the stall is not aggressive, at least not on my plane. Applying flaps 10 at IAS +/- 100kts gives a sudden big amaount of nose-up,...I didn't see it in the video. Also the gear not down horn at MAP
Thanks for all the info! I definitely thought that the stall was too aggressive and was shocked when it spun on me so quickly. This nose does apply a fairly noticeable nose up with flaps but I think I was still in AP and the sim corrects that very quickly in all aircraft. The horn horn stays on even after you lower the gear? I did notice I had to really work for the flair and will definitely try with flaps 20. I bet this will help with any sort of cross wind approach as well. I haven’t messed around with the W&B yet but will see how, if any, it changes. Thanks again and thanks for watching!
Thank you for trying it. Normal flying is no problem but if you try a side-slip it will not work. I am a real world pilot. Carenado knows the issue as well! But the can’t tell when it will be fixed.
What has Carenado said about as their last update was June. Did they email you saying it won’t slip? When you say it won’t slip what does it do instead? I didn’t do a slip for landing but during take off it seemed to come out of the little slip it had correctly.
Fantastic and very informative video!! I have the GTN750 installed and I have a NAVIGRAPH subscription. Right now the Charts icon is grayed out. Can you please tell me what I need to do, to be able to view charts in the GTN750? Thanks So much!!
Thanks! You will need the premium version and PMS50 do a better job than me explaining the process. But you can use a QR code in the settings to connect your account. Check the "Charts" section on their installation doc. There are also a lot of other cool features in the documentation to link up METAR and also some other maps. pms50.com/fs2020/gtn750/documentation.pdf
After I bought a second C182RG on a second PC to try it and hours of research, pictures and videos this was there answer: „Thank you for your feedback, we are sending this to our dev area to be fixed for the next version of this aircraft.“ Nothing else! That has nothing to do with a good customer support.
Yeah that is their generic reply for receiving any bug reports. Not an acknowledgement or that they can reproduce it. You can try to follow up but I wouldn’t hold your breath if they haven’t updated since June. I did try to slip it and while it isn’t extreme by any means, I still could. Interesting is that the rudder movement is more on the ground vs the air. It should definitely slip more aggressively but the overall I find this to be pretty minor in the grand scheme as like you said it flies/functions in all other situations. I imagine they are extremely busy getting ready for MSFS 2024 as they develop a lot of aircraft for Asobo.
Excellent review!!! It would have been wonderful if Carenado installed a DME on the panel, since using the GTN750 you lose any distance information on the ground using the VOR. I hope that in the future Carenado will install a DME just like the Cessna-337 and other Carenado models.
I agree it is nice to see those old school red digital clock numbers but since Garmins are NAV1/VLOC it IS your DME. It will still allow you to tune any frequency and display all the time distance and speed just like the old school DMEs. If you are in VLOC it will be using radio frequencies vs the gps.
Cowl flaps are used for greater cooling when needed. Usually on take off and climb need to be open and then closed when cruising. This depends also on conditions.
Such a beautiful airplane, so detailed, just look at the wear and tear, love to fly the "Old Iron" And like "@anthonyobrain" I'm always flying "old school" but my interest is shifting towards the GTN750 ( In MSFS I only fly the DC-3, DC-6 and the Beechcraft D18) Guess I found another airplane to add to my hangar to do some low level sight-seeing flights using A/P i.c.w the GTN750. Thanks for the great tutorial. Happy flying and blue skies.
You need to use minimal braking and that from nose wheel has a LOT of travel in its suspension. If you are using a button vs rudder pedals it will dip forward a significant amount and true to real life. If you are using pedals then use very minimal braking. Doesn’t take much to slow dow.
Great video thank you. With the autopilot, how did you get it to engage at the current VS? Every time I engage AP, it pitches down to level at the current altitude (pretty abruptly) and I then have to manually go and reset the desired altitude and VS
@@sprocketsimulations yep I do - always set the cruise altitude before takeoff. However to do this you need to switch the AP master on (in other aircraft given the unit isn’t powered when the battery is off). Regardless even when I set the cruise altitude, when I enable AP it still levels out to the current altitude
You shouldn’t need to engage the AP button before preselecting. Just turn the knob to select like in the video. Not sure why yours is acting any differently. Do you have any peripherals that you use for your AP?
im so confused how to get it to display integrated on the instrument panel? Was excited to get the tds 750 and the 182 rg but for the life of me cannot seem to get it to be integrated on the actual instrument panel...
You don’t need to download anything aircraft specific from tds except the base GTN750. Then you just turn it on inside the aircraft on the tablet. They’ve done a great job and most aircraft have it “native” vs a few years ago you had to download a specific one for each aircraft.
Hey Mike, can you explain this a little more? Do you mean calibrating the MP at airport elevation? I always go off temp and elevation to set the power according to the POH.
@@sprocketsimulations usually the MP should show the current baro Pressure or QNH in Europe just like in the altimeter when parked . That's ok that Carenado isn't showing it though
Thanks for the reply, looking at real world dashboards and MP gauges of the 182RG I’m not seeing that being shown on the gauge to set. Or anything mentioned in the POH.
I believe so. There are a lot of variants of the 182 but I believe this one and the 182T RG are both Skylanes. I think maybe only the original 182 did not officially have that moniker but I could be wrong.
I've been seeing all the videos on this aircraft and finally purchased it. But, it seems like im the only one getting the issue where the GPS/NAV screens just stay black even after turning on the avionics. I've put a request into carenado because this is my first aircraft I've purchased from them and so far no good.
Using the GTN 750? You need to download that from the link in the description. Also if you are using the garmin 530 the WTT version is in the marketplace and should be used. Both are feee but the GTN does have a premium version if you want to purchase it. I think they have a trial as well.
@@sprocketsimulations believe it was the 530. i will look in the marketplace now. would that even be causing the default gps and autopilot system to not even turn on too im guessing?
I’m not sure. Make sure your avionics switch is on. Bottom left panel in front of the door. Also make sure battery and alternator is turned on. You can also test it by starting on the runway to see if it is on.
If you have anything in your community folder empty it out. Just put in in a back up folder outside of the community. Then try it. You have something installed or setup that is conflicted with it. Did you download the GTN 750?
This is the NA version. Both have 235hp and the benefit to the turbo was that it had more steady climb performance due to how the turbo. Other specs where almost the same. The T182T has 235 as well. The O-540 can produce a LOT more power but Cessna always kept it 235 to maintain the overall performance and fuel economy. It also means that servicing timeline are less than others. This is faster than the 182T due to the retractable landing gear and has a published cruise of about 160 vs 145 for the T182T. This version is one of the least produced Cessnas ever due to timing not due to the aircraft itself. It was built back in the 70's and by the 80's GA aircraft slumped and production stopped. The T182T was early 2000's to about 2013 I think. They are supposed to restart production of the T182T this year though.
@@sprocketsimulations ok thank you very much for the info! I downloaded the 182rg. I love it, and i pushed it to its limits. When I finally reached 18000ft it managed only 100kts cause of the NA engine.but a very nice addition to fs 2020
That is indicated airspeed (KAIS). Your true airspeed (KTAS) would be much much higher and is what is used for specs and performance chats. I demonstrate how to use your airspeed indicator to see you’re actual true airspeed. You can also use the garmin 530 or 750 to show it. Make sure you are adjusting your mixture as you climb. It is a great little plane.
I just took it for a test flight and it is working beautifully. Live weather out of KSBA, taxiing, takeoff, coordinating turns, landing, and taxing back. No issues what so ever. Check your sensitivities and if you have any other mods that might be interfering with it. It might also be you are trying to fly with too strong of a cross wind. I can remember many times IRL having to cancel lessons in a 172 due to crosswinds. These little planes need a LOT of rudder if there is any wind and also you have to fight it. Try keeping your ailerons pointed into the wind during taxi and takeoff and sort of easing them to keep you straight once in the air. Again, worked perfectly for me.
Might be one of the boring aircraft in the sim. Almost all Carenados in my collection is uninstalled, exept for the Mooney. The 207 is just as boring. Dont get these general aircrafts, the one that comes with the sim is as good (or bad), if you ask me... /The partypooper ;-)
