    My Story: tl:dr Wish I never dieted and restricted calories. It all started when watching a video of George Russell the formula 1 driver doing his exercises topless. He was fit and I wanted to look like him, so I became engulfed in loosing body fat. So I went on a calorie restricted diet from December 2019. Did it for 6 months and lost about 10kg. I was 77kg and went to 67kg so I was already healthy, being a 182cm male. I felt pretty good after the weight loss but unfortunately most of the weight lost was in my legs, arms and neck, mostly muscle and bit of fat. My ribs started to show too. Last few weeks I’ve snapped (proving that the body will always win with hormones) and pretty much eaten meals till my stomach is full and gouging in food. Every day it ends up bloated. Sucks because I realise now I lost a lot of muscle. My arms and chest were so broad, now they look quite pathetic. I could do more than 12 push ups pre diet, this morning I tried and could only do 6. No women or guy respects a skinny guy. Scary looking back at my behaviour, I showed signs of disordered eating: became obsessed with food (watched tons of food challenge, mukbangs, nutrition vids, followed chefs and food on insta), was so cold even with 5 layers on, sex drive vanished (literally haven’t touched my d since then) a lot more moody, counted calories, fasted, pooped only a couple times a week and weight checked every day. (all these common in the Minnesota experiment). Just don’t do it people. Wish I never had. Now trying to lift more weights and eat normally. It’s going to be a long road back. But I’ve been getting night sweats lately and feeling warmer so I think my metabolism is increasing. Once I hit 80kg I’ll be back to normal and will never diet again. Thank you for your video

      Heya! As of Mid August I'm Currently on about 76kg now after reaching a high of 82kg and feeling very happy and healthy now. Happy with how my body looks too, although when I was 82kg I hated how I looked, I was very bloaty and my butt was thiccccccc. Eventually my hunger subsided. Am eating normal and healthy now, with 60 mins cardio each day. No more obsessions about food, or slow metabolism, women are more interesting now and I can actually enjoy things like gaming, movies and hanging with friends (I used to only pay attention to scenes with food) . Please talk to someone you feel comfortable about and when you eat, try to think of food as information rather than just calories E.g Yesterday I had a black bean salad tuna with plenty of veggies. I didn't care about the calories because I know black beans, carrots, tuna and vegetables have so many good vitamins, antioxidants and health benefits, same with other whole foods that are not processed. Good luck friend.

      I'm sorry to tell you that you have to gain the weight back and start a new way of 'dieting'. I've been through restricting calories for years and it's only going to mess with your metabolism and you'll gain even more weight when you're going to eat a normal amount of food. Just try to eat a low carb diet, without refined foods, no sugar, try IF, no snacks in between meals, eat healthy fats. And exercise :the key to look good is by having muscle

      just stop counting calories and eat when you're hungry, stop when you're full. you should eat nutritious food most of the time, but junk food and sweets are definitely okay as long as you don't eat the whole bag of candy at once. counting calories is a trap. a human isn't a machine, it's so much more complicated than that. one thing i know for sure is that limiting yourself from food is not healthy at all.

Wanted to work on my self and improve my health and overall self care but I just don't lose weight. It's nine months now of exercising and deficit but nothing( just 2 kg in 9 months).
    You might be like if you are happy with yourself now you don't have to lose weight and worry if you're not losing it, well if you're BMI is quite high you have to think of your health. I even checked my thyroid and it's fine.

    A year after recovery, I relapsed a little bit. But I dont have extreme hunger like I used to. Its actually the opposite. I rarely get hungry. Ive had small “binges” on chips, ice cream, oreos, etc. but then I just feel extremely full and disgusting after and then feel full for days. I feel colder than normal, I have no energy, and I keep getting constipated. Please help

    So I don't know where else to ask this question, so i'll ask it here. Maybe someone can help me...any advice would be appreciated.
    I'm 5'5" and I was 17 when my ED was at it's depths. (I'd had the ED mindest all my life, but only then was I physically participating it) I went from 135lb to 96lb in almost a year. It started off with restriction and over exercising with the occasional purging episode. (I lost my period a long the way, tho it returned when I hit 120lb)
    At the worst of it I was eating 400 - 700 calories a day and exercising for over an hour a day. It wasn't until a year after it all started that I finally caved in and told my family how much I was struggling...I started "recovery" and started eating again. Everything was "okay" at first but as you've mentioned before, I started bingeing and of course that freaked me out. So I turned to bulimia. (My family no longer allowed me to exercise and made sure I ate, so I had no other way to compensate for the bingeing)
    Before, when I restricted, I didn't purge by vomiting very much. Only very rarely. But when the binges started so did the purging. I only stopped because it messed up my electrolytes and blood pressure so badly that I would pass out. I also started having chest pains. Those two things, along with the emotional tole it took on myself and my family, really gave me a wake up call. I stopped purging.
    Anyway, the binges kept happening until I hit the 135lb - 145lb range. But of course, while I was physically recovered, I was not mentally recovered. Especially since most of my clothes no longer fit and I now had the same fat rolls that sent me over the edge in the first place.
    So this is where I am now. I'll be 20 next month and for the past few months i've been restricting and exercising excessively. I have anywhere from 800 - 1,400 calories a day and I do cardio for at least an hour and a half or longer a day.
    Obviously I feel like shit. I was 146lb and I lost down to 139lb until my weight loss stalled. Now i'm not losing at all despite working out excessively and restricting. I guess my question is...I know something is wrong. This isn't normal. But if I do the MM guidelines, i'll definitely gain those 6lbs back that I worked so hard to lose. Not to mention i'm not skinny. I'm very flabby and chubby. I don't need to gain any more weight. I've gone beyond the weight I was pre-ed but I don't know what else to do to fix my metabolism or hunger cues...
    Any advice? from anyone? i'm so confused and defeated.

      @Michelle AS, @molly1002 I absolutely know how you two feel, but you have to go through the recovery as if you weighed 96lbs. Your bodies are so desperate to gain weight, that's why it was so hard for you, molly1002, to lose weight. You starve your bodies, they fear to die. Trust me, I know that you think you should lose more weight or keep your weight but it's not possible at the moment. Give your bodies time, nourish them, treat them well, love yourselves regardless how you look (you have more qualities than your body) and when you're healed your bodies find their natural set points and you will keep your weight effortlessly. You'll never binge, you'll never think excessively about food, you don't have to starve yourselves ever again. You can have freedom. You can focus on your career, have fun with your friends, on finding the love of your life, having children etc. Do you really want to refuse to live a real life (not that eating disorder life you're living for years, that's not living! that's existing!) for some lbs? It's your choice, you have to take action, you hold the key to your free life in your own hands.
      Lots of love and strength.

    How do you stop drinking so much water? It’s been difficult for me for years and isn’t helping my eating disorder recovery because it makes me nauseous and I force it. Also, how do you know when you can restart exercise? I do overexercising now but am decreasing it. Scared to go cold turkey since I have been adding more calories. I’m not extremely underweight like I use to be and have gained thirty pounds since then but still not considered healthy body weight by my dietitian. When will I know to restart? Is it when I have less obsession? I don’t even allow myself to sit unless I’m in class, eating with friends, or when it’s 10 or 11 at night.

      The best way to stop binge/purging I found was to stop binge purging. I know that doesn't make sense, but I had that overwhelming urge to binge on whatever I saw that want to eat, knowing that I could purge it later. Your body gets that urge to binge because its starving, its extreme hunger and trying to control it will only give it more power. Allow yourself to binge on healthy, less disgusting food helps, knowing that it's not as harmful as sugar or pizza. The longer you go without purging, the less you feel the urge to do it. Theres a weird twisted pleasure your brain gets from it, even if your miserable. This weird thing that helped me when I got a sugar craving was to blend ice, maybe a few berries, stevia and flavoring. Its sweet and theres lots of water volume to fill you up, then I'd top it with some protein powder and nuts. I didn't feel the need to purge it becuase it was "low impact" in my head. Also spicy food is harder to purge, so I ate alot of hot sauce. After a "binge" on food that wasnt completely disgusting, I would take melatonin, lay down with my mom and try to go to sleep, even though I really wanted to purge.

Do you also recommend this method for people who suffered from anorexia nervosa a long time?Because I experience indigestion and other digestion issues since I started recovery what makes it difficult to eat regularly because at the moment I often still feel very full after breakfast. I think it would be best to break your meals into 6-7 meals..try and make the meals high calorie and concentrated apposed to larger meals that are less calories.
      This could work for the first few weeks and then as your body's digestion and gastroparesis start to improve your can eat 3 bigger meals and snacks.
      It's pretty basic ..hope this help you guys

      @zeynep yildirim Firstly, I am by no means a professional, but I’m in the exact same boat: 5’3 and eating around 800 calories. Now, I’m not sure if this’ll work for everyone, but what I’m currently doing is slowly raising my calorie range by 50 calories each week. I’ve gone up from 800-850 to 1050-1100 so far (still a ways to go) and it’s worked quite well for me. My weight loss did slow down, but it’s still happening, just at a healthier rate. I plan to stop adding calories if it begins to plateau and then implement more exercise instead of restricting. My biggest tip would be to weigh yourself less often (I used to do it twice a day and that led to restricting) seen as your weight loss rate will decrease. I’m not sure if this would work for you too, but easing myself to a higher daily intake has been the best for me. Best of luck! :D

      I think that you will gain a few kg, but it's ok. Your health is the most important thing. Your period has to come back because not having it is really really bad. Trust me. I went through that.

I take medication for my underactive thyroid but it's not helping. It's been really frustrating for 15 years. I don't know. This time around I only strictly counted calories and restricted harshly for about one month (December), but for like 6 month prior it had been gradually getting much worse. But I feel like a fraud. Currently inpatient, but these videos seem like they don't apply to me as many of you guys seem to have been restricting harshly for years, and I only did it for like a month that I know of. I lost 24kg during those 6 months and my BMI was at 13.4 when I got here, but I feel like I don't need to do all of these recovery steps, and I don't need to eat as much as other people, and I won't get these cravings, because I haven't restricted so long, and it feels stupid (and I feel like such a baby for having these feelings), but I feel like such a fraud.

    why do obese people who eat what they want whenever they want never return to normal Eating? this scares me..

    • @mayazeynalli6566
      @mayazeynalli6566 6 лет назад +13

      That's why I don't agree with Minnimaud community. I asked people who were in recovery relying on Minnimaud and despite they overshot their set point even got to obese weight they still craved for junk foods and when they asked about it they were told to keep eating. That's why it made me to hesitate. And junk foods are processed they are missed in major macronutrients.

      @@mayazeynalli6566 I partly agree. The minnie maud method can save your life in the early stages of recovery, but it's not something you should keep on doing. You should listen to your cravings, but you should also be able to eat everything in moderation. Eating junk food everyday because you're craving it isn't healthy, but so isn't eating salad 24/7. It's all about moderation and knowing what works the best for you and your body.

      We also don’t know if the obese person is dieting and then binging regularly. A life time of restricting and binge eating can definitely lead someone in a larger body to then become obese. I think it’s an assumption to think that obese people never try to lose weight throughout their life.

    i have been restricting since the beginning of 2021 only eating 300-600 a day and occasionally eating 800-1300 (and purging it), i was overweight 69kg 160cm in the ending of 2019 and I’ve lost some naturally (I don’t know how much bcz I don’t weigh myself lol) assuming i was 64kg in the ending of 2020 however after my restrictions i think I’ve lost 10kg+ and i want to stop restriction bcz I don’t want to ruin my body but im afraid ill gain all my weight back and keep gaining more, im kinda happy that i dont have a scale cuz it would be triggering. Im only 14 and I haven’t told anyone about my behaviors so it’s rly hard.

    fo you think vegan diet is a way for body recovering from.anorexia as its said to be easily degested?on rhw other hand,it has a lot of fibre so i am fearing whether evwry nutrients can adbsorb....and this complete amino..

    • @elizabethhursey6920
      @elizabethhursey6920 6 лет назад +2

      Katrin VO I wouldn't suggest being vegan while trying to weight restore after an eating disorder. Too much fiber will cause you to get full fast and make you not want to eat anything else. So you wont be getting the nutrients you need in order to gain

      elizabeth hursey that’s not true. I can eat up to 12 bananas and still feel hungry. I eat like 10 dates, 15 bananas, 6 slices of vegan bread with natural peanut butter, and probably 3 cups of brown rice with corn in a day (+more like oatmeal, mangoes, and vegan granola). I am still hungry for more. Vegan is definitely the way to go. I’ve been eating an abundance for only 4 days now but omg I feel so much better and more satisfied. It’s also better because you are eating a lot more and feel satisfied but if you were eating animal products you wouldn’t feel as satisfied. I recommend watching Alice Olivia she truly saved my life I believe :)

When I try to eat I only eat a little bit. I’m not getting the food I need. I really need help. How can I fix what’s going on?

    • @FollowTheIntuition
      @FollowTheIntuition  6 лет назад +3

      you have to respond to your hunger whether you have an appetite or not. let the mental hunger guide you in eating. appetite is a bonus in recovery, not a requirement. you have to eat by following your mental hunger and food thoughts. our normal hunger signals can be switched off when our body is in starvation, so you have to feed yourself enough so the hunger cues can return. your body has to see that food is abundant so it will stop thinking you are in starvation.

  • @JapanShopBrazil
    @JapanShopBrazil 7 лет назад

    sorry, but i tried all that you said, didnt work. I also cant drink less than 3.5L of water per day else i get a so bad headache that medicine wont heal, takes 2-3days with it, i cant feel well, i cant process thoughts well, my body naturally demands A LOT of water. I have bad circulation and water retention tho. I gained 60 kg in a few months eating 400kcal a day and doing gym, not budging at night, i started eating better and body seemed to respond but sadly its gotten even worse, now i need to eat 200kcal per day else those 400kcal will put on 1-2kg the next day, I dont have any problems already checkedwithdoc except of extremely rare real low insanely low metabolism. So im worried body will respond worse, i might need to eat only a lettuce per day else i get fat. There was a time id get 1kg fromdrinking 200kcal of light milk only all day. Seriously, and stress i cant get rid of, my family used military torture on me and i cant live far from them because i am brazilian poor as a fucked nearly homeless, i spent from my age 3 and half begging for food and job until my actual age of 32 now, they never give me jobs, i need to survive trying to sell shit on streets. I cant afford to go out and have fun, i dont have friends, i cant do my hobbies else family punishes me but i cant really do most of them because i cant afford to replace my broken rig, i almost died of starvation so many times inmy life since child until now, i tried doctors to try to lose weight and eat like a normal human being but theyonly stole my money. i no longer hae money and i think honestly i wont find a cure. Regardless if i work outor not, eat better or not, eat more warm food or not, body doesnt respond. I think i have a rare level of slow metabolism syndrome and no doctor can help me because the ones in brazil are way too ignorant and corrupt, the ones worldwide want moneythat i cant offer. I believe ill hit 150kg soon being 5`1 eating 200-400kcal per day. Sadly. I will never be happy with my body, due tofamiliar torture and lifetime poverty, i developed a bad skin infection that all dermatologists gave up curing, it wrecks my skin to the point i get scars all over and cut bits, black head even behind my knees for example, i think its 3 skin problems in one, all over nearly my entire body, i also am rare type of stretch all over my body, i have it even on my knees and ankles....i cant dress pretty because theyre bigger than 2 thumbs. etc reallynobody can help me and was thinking of asking guiness book to register my scenario as worst in the world, lowest metabolism and the creepiest skin issue that nobody can find a curefor and for being stretch rarely any skin on. Anyway i wish i could have help for free, but i never got help, humans are shit and will never give a damn, ill die hating humanity and God. I also had so bad ulcers that almost penetrated tru my stomach cuz doc way too ignorant gave me wrong medicine and it got worse, i take now right medicine and eat cabbage all the time to not let it open, but eating 1 lettuce a day to not get fat might reopen my stomach and kill me before hunger does or my metabolism does due to overweight of 150kg which is toomuch for my heighbt, ill die before reaching that. Thanks for thetips, sadly, i think theres no saving for me...
