  • Large Professor, also known as Large Pro, is a Hip Hop producer and MC from New York and a founding member of Main Source. Large Pro began making beats as a teenager and, under the mentorship of producer Paul C, he created beats for Eric B & Rakim on their 1990 album Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em (MCA). He joined Main Source in 1989 and they released one album together, Breaking Atoms (Wild Pitch, 1991), which featured the first public appearance by Nas, whom Large Pro is credited for discovering. Large Pro's first solo album, The LP (Matador) was just released in 2009, having been delayed by record label politics since 1996. In the meantime, he released two other solo albums, 1st Class (Matador, 2002) and Main Source (Matador, 2008). Large Professor has produced tracks for Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes, Slick Rick, Masta Ace, The X-Ecutioners, Big Daddy Kane, Mobb Deep, and many others.

    I used to live in this store. They had the best selections of Prince singles and imports. Never invested in records, but I damn sho' invested in cd's. Love how you mentioned the smell of a record, William Paul. _Columbia Records'_ cd's smelled different from _Atlantic Records'_ cd's. Nobody will understand what any of this means, but hey...I'm a music junkie. You still look good. The older you get, the more handsome you get. Be well.

      Exact thing I hate about this ish because producers always think that their sooo special that they cant show their records because someones gonna bite them in 2019. Even if they did they would get massive hate by these dudes, not everything needs to be some big secret just because your some dj premier.

    I got that Paul Horn LP. Playing flute insde the Taj Mahal. The only record I know where you can hear a fly/mosquito flying by that's part of the sound itself. Plus nice dialogues between the flute and a local guy singing.

    Not to be 2 much of a racial thinker, but if you notice, white "afficionados" are always tryin' to act like white people put us on to the culture we originated. Paul C was great, and culture is for everyone, but Large Pro's greatness stands on its own. Nuff respect to Paul C as an innovator. Peace Be Upon His Soul.

    who's Paul D?

    • @mathiasbanan
      @mathiasbanan 10 лет назад +1

      Paul C is Paul McKasty. Inspired and produced NYC classic hiphop acts, such as; Ultramagnetic MC's, Organized Konfusion, Superlover Cee & Casanova Rud, Eric B. & Rakim and numerous others. Had the hardest hitting drums back in '87-'89, even Marley Marl had a run for his money. Paul C lives to this day, through Large Pro and others that he took under his wing and taught production skills.
