  • Quincy Wilson is a 400 meter dash #sprinting #trackandfield phenom who won the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in a race against pro athletes. He has made it clear he has the talent to run with the best in the world, but is the pro circuit really what is best for him right now?

I wouldn’t look too much into this. The pro’s literally kicked off there season this weekend. This is quincy’s 6th race. Let’s wait until outdoors.

Those top colleges will run him into the ground as they are incentivized to win team champioinships and he can get alot of points in collegiate meets. He might be better off at a small college that is not competetive but has a good patient sprint coach.

Still A little disingenuous though to not consider Pros really are at the very beginning of their year training cycle. No one is peeking for the New balance indoor Grand Prix. Quincy is absolutely on their level and he's raced like five times already this year so there's no way he wasn't going to beat them honestly. His sponsor set up a great race for him

Great to see Wilson run well and win, but I wouldnt down Jereem for not being in top shape for a New Balance indoor meet.

He should compete in his high school city and state championship meets unless there is an important scheduling conflict.

5:14 Are there rules against high school athletes practicing with college or pro athletes? Can college athletes practice with professional athletes?
If not, stay”AMATEUR “ and take advantage of the FREE coaching, training, travel and MEDICAL INFRASTRUCTURE.
I hope in 2028 he is a pro. A full college season is often a bit too long to then go into World Competitions.
Option 1: Reclassify, graduate early (assuming he breaks 44 this season)and do at least 1 college year.
2 : Stay in HS mature slowly with less physical stress. Just because he is running adult times doesn’t mean his boy body is ready for man work load.

Him running in college is bad bad. Them college track programs will break him down with how much practice and meets he has to do. Avoid it at all cost

Think of all the 400m phenoms of the past 30 years or so, or look them up. If NB cared about QW or the USA they would be more concerned with his future and let him mature physically and mentally. The 400 is a MAN BREAKER! Injury has halted ones from the smallest frame to the most physically imposing….

Whatever he wants. The world is his oyster. His goals are his to decide. He may as well go to college, he's getting paid anyway. What is the point in going pro and running all over the globe when he's already getting paid? Its not like the Diamond league is so lucrative anyway. Besides... he's 16 and colleges got college girls so.... hormones may get the final vote.

You i have.kids run fast at 16 17 and not get faster .Like his young man who run 200m for.USA and as not got faster you know who i am talking Coach

I don't see that with this kid. These hs phenom burnouts tend to look physically mature for their age, or they don't have the drive to improve, or they succumb to injuries, or they lack the right support system. I don't see these issues with Quincy. My question is how much he can improve his 100m speed. I suspect that Quincy might ultimately become better in the 800 than the 400. His trajectory seems more like a Sydney McLaughlin than an Obey Moore. Also, Knighton is doing fine (a top 5 200 guy in the world).

Jereem needs to take that flagoff his chest he is running the wrong race dude go back to the 200m

    • @persistentconsistency

Jareem ran 43.78 likes 6 months ago. How does he deserve your disrespect? Every race doesn't go the way one plans. Too many people on the internet think anything short of a personal best or win is a failure. That's not how track and field works, if you're an actual fan of the sport.

    • @davidwalcott2340

@persistentconsistency .....200 is his race how old is he and how many 43..has he ran..

    • @persistentconsistency
      @persistentconsistency 6 дней назад

@@davidwalcott2340 The thing is, not many people have run sub-44 in the 400m and he ran it last year. In fact, his 43.78 is 42nd, all-time. His 200m personal best is 139th, all-time.
Let's run through Jareem's performances at 200m over the past few years:
2023 WC - not in final
      2022 WC - 20.08 (6th place)
      2021 Olympics - 20.39 (8th place)
2019 WC - not in final
      2017 WC - 20.11 (3rd place)
Jareem didn't break 20 seconds in the 200 until 2017, when he ran 19.97. So, the above performances are what count. As you can see, Jareem has not done anything worthy of someone calling the 200 his race, whereas his 43.78 400m performance would have medaled at every Olympics except for the 2024 games. Yes, he got a bronze medal at the 2017 WC, which is one of the slowest 200m races at a major championship meet in modern history. That performance certainly doesn't make the 200 his race. That bronze was a "right place, right time" situation, not a matter of exceptional 200m talent.
To answer your question directly, Jareem is 31 years old and he has run one sub-44 400m. But that 43.78 makes him a more exceptional track athlete than anything he's done at the 200m distance. He has not broken 20 seconds in any major games, period. I think it's safe to say that, while the 400m may not undoubtedly be his race either, the 200m certainly has not been. His most recent 400m performance at the Olympics was exceptional, even if you want to downplay it.

@persistentconsistency i love in depth look up but the end of the day.. dude is not consistent in any event...how many more 43 both him and Hudson have not many they r at the end of the line in my eyes but thanks for chatting..I find now I am older I realize that TTACK is nothing but PEDS.......don't think there is much pure in the sport if I was a shoe company ceo there would be a lot of folks looking for real work..Paulino would be top of my list ciao
