I’m a big fan of Noah Lyles and I do believe that he has the ability to win those four gold medals at the Olympics. It won’t be easy but it’s within his reach. I think that it’s great he has set high goals for himself and is confident and bold enough to speak on them. It takes faith in GOD which I believe he has and GOD can definitely help him achieve those goals. Also, I feel that Noah is bringing attention to track and field which is needed. Those athletes work hard and deserve the recognition that athletes in other sports get. If Noah gets the opportunity to run on the men’s 4x4 relay I don’t feel he would be taking a spot from another athlete. Those spots are earned and not given, so if he gets one it’s because he earned it. He doesn’t just have to stay confined to running the 100m, 200m and 4x1 races. If he has the talent and skill set then it’s nothing wrong with him running that race and people shouldn’t grumble about him taking someone else’s spot. Plus, the American men that normally run that race haven’t been running times that’s worth bragging about. Needless to say I’ll be rooting for Noah all the way and will be praying that GOD will make all of his goals a reality.

One thing about Abby is there’s no “quit in her” or complaining about the heal bone spur surgery she ended up having. She ran almost the whole previous season in really bad pain and won regardless of the painful foot. She has lots of years ahead of her to regain her running ability….yeah I’m a big fan of Abby

OK but let’s put it all into context. In Jamaica for the most part they solely focus on Track and field. So if you’re singularly focused on a particular sport you should be good at it. So that’s one. Two. If your a very fast runner in the United States your probably going to be geared towards basketball ball and football in America not track and field. Three. Even if we talk about things financially, there is far, far more money to be made in Basketball and football than there is track and field. A lot of track and field athletes in America are broke and live a very hand to mouth life. Many of them don’t even get full scholarships for track and field programs in America.

Yes, he’s extremely fast and exceptional athlete. Probably a generational athlete. I can’t recall a freshman running so fast but he is deafly absolutely not even remotely close to making the Olympic team hype man maybe the next.

Quincy is not ready, next year he will be running 44 mid , with the added natural growth factors. He can Market himself. And even receive max NIL deals from anything representing Speed and Endurance. He might compete in Michael Johnsons Pro League as an invitee and maintain amateur status. Whatever he does , there is no need to rush him. It took years to build the Pyramids slowly by slowly.

He is funny. He's been talking a good one for a long long time and in only one race. Did he ever come close to even number two.

Coach - I’m curious to get your thoughts on Cooper’s and Quincy’s upside potential. I cannot process that Cooper is less than a second from Granville’s 1:46 NR, as a freshman. The future of US Track is looking very promising.

Lots of D3 track and swimming athletes are good enough to compete D1. They just chose D3 for academic/financial/personal reasons. The reality is even if you get a "scholarship" at one of the big schools you hear about on TV, it doesn't mean school is free. They hand out partial scholarships to almost all track athletes and swimmers.

I think the tide is turning due to channels like this but there is still work to be done as far as getting the message out that track and field is a division-less sport. The more we can get kids to focus on their academics (you need to for many D3 programs) and be patient with their track and field journey, the better off many kids will be. Lose the D1 or bust mentality out of HS. Get good grades, and if you are not a highly recruited super star, go to a good D3 program that WANTS you there and can help you get better. Get a good education. I don’t believe most of D1 and D2 are in the development business. That is usually the case when money (scholarships) are involved. Coach, it would be cool if there was a ranking of D3 programs in terms of how good they are at development. Coaches at that level need more recognition in my opinion.

Erriyon Knighton made the Olympics while still in high school.

National JC vs California JC Athletes. I know in the past (20 -30 years ago) there was a stark distinction between the two, but haven't they gotten so close these days that they could/should be compared? After watching this year's California JC Championships I looked up the nationals and the times/distances were pretty close to overlapping each other in almost all the events. Just something to consider. Now to watch and see if any unknowns break out at the Olympic trials next week! 😁

I think that Noah Lyles will have a difficult time even in the 2024 Olympics, but he does have a good chance in making the podium. I don't think that he will break Usain Bolt's record at this time, but it is possible in the future, if he stays healthy and improves his running.

If you are borderline D1 and a good student, go to a Division 3 school where this is a non issue. Get a good education, get more attentive coaching, ball out and then create the opportunity to transfer to a D1 school IF YOU WANT. Look at Alex Phillip of UNC, Traore of Penn St and others.

Lyles is a generational talent, but Bolt is a once in a century talent, or even once in a millennium talent. I don’t think we’ll see anyone win 100m/200m/4x100m gold three Olympics in a row ever again in our lifetime. He’s just such an extreme outlier
