To give some background. Jake Segura the lead singer of Citizen Soldier attempted to take his own life back in 2016. Obviously he survived and then following that while in a psych ward he ended up writing the lyrics to what would become Citizen Soldier’s first song “Let it Burn”. This moment literally changed his life as it lead to him forming the band and now he is both the band’s singer as well as a clinical therapist helping others with mental health issues both through his work and his music.
In 2016, I was thinking of the same thing I had it up to here with bullying at the time, but their song, Would Anyone Care, and Let It Burn, saved my life and helped me to put the bottle down, which I didn’t do anything it was just a terrifying thought about it. I have been bullied ever since I was five years old, and I have dealt with evil people. I have complex PTSD now.
I feel really stupied for saying this But i really need sombody to talk to cause it's getting harder and harder for me to find reason to stay alive and face my problems
Thank you for this. Citizen soldiers music is so powerful. It's helped me through some dark times in my life. You should definitely react to more from citizen soldier when you can.
🖤🖤🖤🖤 I feel you. The line where he looked in the camera and spoke with this empathic voice this lines, his touched me deep. Thos deseprate inner part who is so scared of human but also yearns for understanding in other people. Thanks for your great reactions and great words also. You are a beautiful soul. Thank you. oh yes one day at a time.
I needed the last part of this song. I have a severe medical issue that keeps me in debilitating pain. So much so that my husband has to work and also do most of the housework. I had part of my brain cut out and now I'm in worse pain. Thank you for doing this. Much love ❤

Such a beautiful song! And u were right so many more people need to hear this and more importantly act on it. We need to be there for each other cuz right now if feels like people are to self absorbed. Thank you for sharing and reacting to this video and this group! They have been my goto music and I found them thru this reaction channel...so thank you man!!
In my own experience, it takes a combined effort/approach to heal. For me, at least. It took finding the right support system of family/friends, a therapist that's a good match, and the right medication. The meds really helped turn my condition around, but without my family and friends, it would not have been enough. I love your reaction, by the way.
This is one of my favourite songs. The emotions are so good because it is their own experiences. Those first lines was the path he took. Citizen Soldier has been a great help to me, because for once I haven't felt alone and others can understand me. I've always felt like an outcast. From school as a kid and even in the army I was different. Im some wierd combination between extremely emotional and also emotionless all at once. I was liked but never really fit in anywhere I go. Ive been down some really dark places the last 8-9 years. Finding CS has been an immense help these last couple of years. Also got a couple of recommendations for you from Australian singers. They are military themed. They are country/folk songs. Beccy Cole - broken soldiers Fred Smith - Gates of KIA, Sappers Lullaby, Derapet, Dust of Oruzgan, Going home or Afghan Fighting man. Many of his songs do speak of fallen. He was an Australian diplomat to Afghanistan in 2009/10 and later on and his songs were his experiences during his time and of soldiers who didn't come home. So if that is too much please take care. The first time I heard a few of his songs I was in tears.
Yeah, medication is only supposed to be a tool, not a solution. It's like tending to a garden. You've got tools that make it possible to turn grass/ dirt into a garden bed. However, you gotta put in that work. The tools won't do it for you. In the beginning, you'll need more tools to turn dirt into a garden, but as you're tending the garden, you won't need as many tools.
I'm a new subscriber, and Citizen Soldier is the band I go to when I need to let out all my hidden and pent up emotions. I highly suggest you check out the very first song I ever heard that got me into them, "Weight Of The World". Still brings me to tears every time.

Forgot to mention he attempted suicide via trying to overdose on pills. It's very heartbreaking to hear
