100% more river videos. I'm from south wales and just starting to gain some fly fishing gear so hope to learn more from you
More river sessions ryhs please , you got to love wild browns on the river .
Love these river vids
Thanks richard
@@RhysFishes no probs mate, picked up loads of great tips off you but one quick question the river I fish up in Northumberland is quite shallow for long ish stretches maybe between half a foot to one and a half 2 foot is it worth fishing them parts aswell or mainly the deeper run bits
I was on a stretch of river last night that was identical to what you've just mentioned. There wasn't much moving water on this stretch but plenty of small feeding fish. Patience and sensitive feet is the answer on stretches of water like this. They spooked when i began wading but after a 15 minute wait with no casting, they soon dropped back close enough to cast at. You'll invariably catch fish quicker in the deeper/faster water but sometimes patience on these types of river can offer you some good reward 👍
@@RhysFishes thank you very much mate, sometimes I look and I think there can't be anything or much in there but there's decent over hanging bushes and trees to create a bit shelter which I assumed could possibly have some, learning rivers and how they work compared to reservoir fishing which av came over from is totally different and a great challenge
For the duo method is the point fly a large dry fly really just to control the depth of the nymph dropper as opposed to a "catching" fly? Ta.
Its a bit of both, depending on the duo fly choice. Match the hatch and they'll take it, otherwise it just serves as a good sight indicator.
Hi rhys i caught a 24 lbs rainbow this morning at my local fishery using some tips of your videos thanks for good informative videos to help people catch more fish keep them up
Top video Rhys, more of the same defo...
Defo more river videos, cracking little vid mate 👍🏼
Great video, keep them coming!
Well done you... great content.. stay safe .R.....
Hey rhys what tactics would you use on large lakes, 4000 acres big, I haven't fished a fishery yet but its on the cards and hopeing to have more success, thanks for all the video's
At this time of year buzzers and nymphs. I have videos on these already, check out the tutorial playlist.
@@RhysFishes thanks rhys for the reply what do you look for when you approach a large lake, would you start with floating lines and work down with intermediate then fast sinking, all of last season only caught 1 trout, Jesus's I was loosing the will to live,
Wild brown trout fishing is definitely my favorite type of fly fishing. Those browns were beautiful, incredible River too. Video style is top notch too. 👏
Definitely love to see more like this! Covering such things in depth like nyphing, fishing wets etc, good to see you out and about in a more natural setting 👌
Yes¡ more river videos 😉
I'll have to come back and watch the rest later. Top job no the content, editing and presenting. Really impressive stuff. Shame about all the plastic left on the trees - every river it seems. :(
Yes - please to more river fishing videos! Your stillwater vids are really informative and it would be great if you could create as many for river fishing! Thanks Rhys, keep up the good work
Great wee video Rhys 🐟🎣🏴🏴
I've watched hours of your fishing and can say top notch information. Just wondering if you could cover fishing a reservoir from a bank. Many cover with boats but there little information from the bank. Cheers
Hi Rhys, good helpful video, more please but lose the music it isn't needed. Many like me , a novice , would benefit from a bit more detail such as rod length and weight, leader length ,tippet length etc . My bit of river ( the upper vyrnwy) is all over the place with its width, depth and pace but yours looks more stable.
another great video. It was a nice change of pace to see you off the still water. Although so far this season I've only fished still water. Many of my local rivers dont open until June. Thanks for posting!
Wild brown trout fishing cannot be beat mate
Love the video work!! Incredible edit
Just tested my new lightweight set up a Greys K4ST 9ft #5, seemed to cast ok, now looking forward to getting those wild brownies up and around Blaenau Ffestiniog in the upland Llyns. Might start river fishing too.
Enjoying your videos, a lot to learn when you're coming back tobthe sport after 18 years away.
Thanks, good luck up on the upland llyns.
Rhys you should think about taking a fishing trip up to North/ South Uist of the coast of North West Scotland. Bit of a hike for you but they have Wild Brown Trout Lochs , Sea Trout and perhaps the odd Salmon run. Plus the most beautiful scenery! Whatever you decide this was a great Video, thanks for sharing! :)
Cheers Mikey, it’s on the list mate
Excellent video Rhys , I’m fishing Loch Leven for an evening session on Friday night for some wild brown trout , the last time I fished it I blanked but after watching several of your videos I feel I am going out with so much more confidence. Thank you for sharing your knowledge my friend and keep up the good work
Good luck 🎣
I’ve got a fishing trip booked in Scotland early June and would like some more advice on setup with regard to large lake/lochs for fussy wild brownies from the bank, cheers rhys
Wet flies are your friend for wild brownies👍
Hi mate, could you do a video on sweep lines please.
-how they fish (di3-di7)
-the difference between a sweep line to a intermediate/sink line
-when you would use them
And then anything else on them like how do you know what depth it is when a fish takes?
Cheers
I'll add it to the neverending list 👍
Top class production Rhys. Are those Diver Dave waders? I bought a pair of his recently, and they also had the grey duct tape on the straps.
Thanks ben. Yes they are 👍
Fantastic more of that, brilliant
Nice video pal, just out of curiosity, which river is that? Looks cracking!
Loughor
Where do everyone buy there flies ?
Great video. As a newbie it's a great help. Do you have any vids on reservoir fishing?
ruclips.net/video/gkmb9WzPKNw/видео.html
Great video :)
Nice video good content, going to miss you! What camera equipment do you use at the moment? Are we going to see some sea fishing soon?
Thanks paul. Cannon cameras for the time being. Sea fishing come summer 🤞
Your videos continue to be excellent Rhys
Nice video Rhys, was that a Sage rod you were using. Cheers
Cheers. Nah it's an old wychwood david 👍
You need to come out to Colorado and fish out rivers!
100% more river videos.
What river is this Rhys?
Hi there Rhys, we are just going into winter here in New Zealand so the fishing methods are changing . I've only just found your RUclips channel and have really enjoyed watching your videos and tutorials. There are lots of commonalities between your fishing methods and how small still water fisheries are fished here. Unfortunately, we don't have the controlled pond fisheries with purpose build pegs like I see in your video. I really think that we are missing out on an opportunity in NZ by not having this type of fishing. My wife and I look forward to being able to come to Wales to have a crack at your fisheries, obviously when this crazy world comes right. Tight lines BJ
MORE! plz!!
Loved it
Hi Rhys just back fly fishing on River Neath after years of course fishing! Loving it. Definitely more river fishing for trout please with any helpful advice on flies etc.
Really enjoyed this video as it included a lot of actual fishing footage, putting the theory in practice 👌 Showing the fly setup, talking about the duo etc was brilliant. Thanks and look forward to more of these 🎣👏👍
Great video again ! I see you seem to lock your wrist by putting the reel to the right side, is there a reason for it ?
Nothing specific, force of habit
@@RhysFishes Thx for the answers. I see a lot of anglers doing it and was always wondering if there is an advantage..maybe to avoid curving the wrist or something.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I really like your video’s, and love this ‘wild’ video!
Fantastic video yet again. Many thanks for taking all the time and effort to make and post your videos. 3 years for you to return, I haven't fished a river for probably 40 years, used to find it so frustrating with wild Browns having a look at the fly, but not taking it. I may have another go using your tactics.
Thank you for such an entertaining video Rhys, so much more enjoyable with wild browns in their natural environment. More like this please 👍
Quality video, would like to say a big thanks for all your videos really helpful, had a cracking night last using the all purpose nymph and the holographic diawl bach at my local fishery, where I would use lures was great to catch rainbows on the smaller flies
Keep up the great videos, thought you may go after one of them monsters stocked this week down Garn, they looked proper torpedoes!!!!
My favourite type of fishing Rhys. Thanks for the tips. 🎣👏👍
Hi,
That was really useful. More river fishing and tips please.
What glasses are you wearing?
Vision glasses
Best yet as I don't do still water its not that many river fishing videos keep them coming
Great video Buddy, really enjoyed that (more than the still waters) but I much prefer this type of fishing. Can I ask what club you have joined?
Ammanford angling
Great video, makes me want to try river fishing for wild brownies myself.
What's your duo dry fly buddy
Its in the vid. Just an overdressed sedge/grannom
Great video as always would love to see more of the wild stuff
Nice to see some action on the river Rhys. Dda Iawn! 👍
Another brilliant video! Great stuff
MORE RIVER FISHING
Hi Rhys, I’m buying my first 7wt rod as I only started fishing pre lockdown and use ur tutorials every visit, can I ask ur review on the stillmaniac please 9,9/10ft please ( great looking rod,but there are no reviews out there!) as il be using it for large reservoirs bank & boat or would u advise a different rod for the Similar money? Thanks
That’s was real nice ! Thumbs up here mate 👍🏻
Brilliant video again thanks Rhys
Excellent video Rhys
Loved the drone shots
Wanted to ask you guys for a tip. I’m new to fly fishing and have a 5w rod but wanted to add a second rod. Was think of either a 10’’ 7w or 3w. I mostly fish still waters and was thinking the 7w would help on the windy days or have sinking line on it but is it overkill/too heavy for trout?
Pick up a 7wt 👍
More more vids fishing the rivers 👌🏼
Loved this! And would love to see more videos on catching wild brown trout! Trying to get my head around fly fishing and have been after wild brown trout in the north wales lakes such as Conglog and Gamallt. Would be great to see your input in natural lakes such as these.
This may be of help for those remote lakes you mention: ruclips.net/video/xDlFwc3VqP4/видео.html
Rhys how long a leader are you using? I have away from the rivers so long I've forgotten the setup. Just seem to remember it was about rod length.
6ft tapered leader with 7ft of 0.10 stroft
Please can someone tell me why they gave this video a thumbs down? Informative, well made video.
You go out your way to make these videos and people really appreciate it.
More of this please Rhys.
MORE OF THIS I BEG
Another excellent video Rhys ........upper Tawe?
Loughor
Llwchwr!! ......unbelievable!. We ignore the opportunities on our doorstep.@@RhysFishes
Have you checked out Sunray rods and lines? Well worth doing so, if you haven't!
I have one of their lines but prefer to stay away. Heard the horror stories regarding their customer service
