Craig, I've just started fishing Welsh Upland Llyns in the Blaenau Ffestiniog area on Cambrian Angling Association waters, stuffed with wild Brownies, look for Fishing in Wales and The Fly Shop channels on here, they've some cracking videos.
Absolutely the best quality river fishing video I have ever watched Rhys !!! I have been on the river Tay up in Scotland for the past 4 days not caught many but the ones I have caught have been bars of gold. Managed to land my biggest wild brown off 2 pounds on by own dry fly.
Sad to see 3 dislikes after a fella goes out and puts in his time to make absolutely brilliant videos but all the thumbs up show you your doing a fantastic job Rhys so thank you very much I really enjoy every video I watch and learn plenty from you 😁
That's a little river? I would give my teeth to fish that lovely water. My local river is only 4 meters wide and mostly 3 foot deep, but I can't complain as it holds a good number of small wild brown trout
Another great vid mate, in all honesty, it looked to me like a mixture of small trout, and salmon parr you were catching then, all great fun though. One way I was always taught to tell the difference was the spots, if their spots don’t go below the lateral line, it’s a salmon parr, if the spots go down onto the belly, it’s a trout, don’t know exactly how true that is, but it’s some ‘old timer’ wisdom from my river.
Thanks dan. I tried to work out whether some of the smaller fish were par but with prominent red spots i assumed not. May be by lack of knowledge but do the parr have red spots?
@@RhysFishes yes mate, salmon parr have red spots also, in much the same way a trout loses its red spots when it becomes a sewin, the same happens with salmon when they’ve lived at sea, the brown trout and salmon are actually very very closely related, the salmon has a slightly more forked tail, and no spots below the lateral line.
Nice video Rhys. I love fishing for small wild brownies and hooking into the occasional larger one makes the day. Just wanted to ask you a wee question about the Stroft if you don't mind. Whenever I'm fishing the duo using any small diameter copolymer it always seems to twist my cast. Is this something to do with the material/lengths between my two flies or is it something else? Have you ever had trouble with this. I was using the fulling mill copolymer then switched to the stroft but it still happens. The only way I can stop it is by using thicker tippet. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for the tips. 🎣👏👍
we have a few spots like this in california, i've also referred to them as "suicidal fish". I remember last summer i stopped counting at 100 fish in hand. that's when i started looking at striper and steelhead fishing to round everything out
So enjoyable, thank you! I was interested to see your retrieves since this is the type of fishing I do summer and autumn. What retrieve worked best for you that day? lovely video :)
They are great fun, more like our fishing, and that I feel comfortable doing. However love learning everything you do. Still can't get my head around catching a fish on a strike indicator ! I assume only the rainbows take the indicator ?
Thanks Rhys, a very interesting video as I have the same thing in mid wales nothing moving or rising but 4-5in brownies and was wondering where all the better fish have gone so it looks as if it's the same there. I was told that if a nymph isn't bumping the bottom it's not deep enough but with video I can see that's not true, as my river is so low maybe 2ft duo is worth a try. Is your river the Taff or Teifi ?
Looked good fun, stunning those natural brownies 🎣
Indeed. Can't wait to get back on them next year
As much as I enjoy fishing for stockies, a day like this, catching small wild trout is my idea of a perfect day. Good job mate.

Rhys I could watch this stuff all day. Your editing is perfection. And the water was stunning. Well done Rhys. Take care mate. Shaun.
Cheers shaun🎣
Nice Brownies Rhys, never seen one with blue markings before.
A lot of the strain in this river have them. On the bigger fish they are cracking!
Cracking video Rhys. If you are ever in the Midlands come and fish the Dove.
Will do james. Thanks 🎣

River fishing is mainly just about keeping up with the line AJ. That’s all I was really doing in this video
I want some of that, great video.
Cheers mike

On stillwaters yes
Excellent vid 👍

Good fishing , some times it's better than chasing stockies fed on pellets round a res.
Nice to get back to the roots!
Nice video hope all is well
Thanks paul
Great vid Rhys👌👌

Loughor michael. And yes, the big fish are hiding with the rising tempratures
@@RhysFishes thanks Rhys, too far for an evening lol, still the same here a week on small fish rising to midges or emerging midges
I wonder, does New Zealanders call it a New Zealand rig in New Zealand???
Who knows 🎣
As far as I know it's Klink and Dink
