How I took this album is the same way I take watching Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back. Is the movie amazing? Hell no. Is it fun though? Hell yes! Does it have good acting? No. Is it memorable? Yes. I feel like that was the aim of this album was just to take you through a story that might not be the most amazing storytelling experience but just a nice simple experience with his friends. We don't get shit like that anymore and it's nice to see something like this from a person that tries to spread positivity, do it in this manner. Of course I could be bias because I would consider myself a fan, but I'm also a fan of hip hop styles like this and I would give it more like an 8.
Fantano has always been oddly critical with Logic’s reviews. He’s critiqued him as if he’s a Kanye/Kendrick level artist, rather than just the goofy dude who makes fun, light-hearted projects infused with old school Hip-Hop. I’m not saying College Park is Album of the Year, but I definitely wouldn’t have it as low as a 5.
but that goes to show that there's levels to it. And also i believe Fantano critics also with how develop the artist as the art progress not just through comparison to other music. In the end of the day its his opinion, but it is good to have a elite critic who looks at everything, and tries to be as unbias as possible...the jury of music reaction.
The scale is the same for everyone lmao. It's not harder for some aartists to get good scores than others, the score isn't a messure of expectation of a certain artist, it's just an enjoyment scale.
With all due respect, that’s not what Logic is. He have goofy & light-hearted elements to some of his music. @@NoNonsenseSkyblockGuides i thought he was gonna give it a 6 at most. I keep going back to it but I don’t see it being better than No Pressure or Vinyl Days, so I think it’s a decent rating, especially if someone isn’t crazy about all the skits or some of the songs, I get it a bit.
This review feels incredibly bitter, it's not a perfect album, like the skits aren't great but the music was on point especially the production and the feature, yet Anthony seems to misinterpret a lot of points and find issue in the album that I haven't seen anyone else find issue with
Really confused on how someone can just completely dismiss someone’s vocals just because they are part of a comedy tv show. What does that have to do with his singing ability? The man has more vocal talent than this entire comments section combined with his voice acting AND his jazz albums.
This album has some HIGH highs, but it also has the most confusing and avoidable lows. The worst thing being that they are lows that are a virus that have infected most of his other albums post Everybody. Repeating bars/phrases, inopportune singing, corny (and at times, cringeworthy) skits, extremely similar content, etc. In fact, I truly don't want to hear another Logic album with the same content matter. So much of what this album consists of, you will find on the final track of YSIV, and that was years ago. Which is annoying, because his albums consistently have luscious production, fun features, and catchy moments that stop you in your tracks, and this album is no different. I want the man to have fun making music, or whatever he puts himself to. I just also would appreciate a solid project, too. I don't need a 10/10. A 7 is cool, if it's like a Little Simz, Joey Bada$$, J Cole kind of 7. Not a "We'll forget this dropped by the end of the year" 7. (Also, this comment is mad long and doesn't need to be because Logic is a decorated artist and I'm sitting in my bed eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch so who am I, but Paradise is one of my favourite Logic songs, and while Paradise II is... fine, the fact that he tacked on that looooong skit at the tail end feels like an unskippable cutscene, and that alone makes this album deserve a 5. Why not Vinyl Days it, and have the skit be like the voicemails that are their own track?) Okay, I'm done now.
It just very much feels like filler. Vinyl Days was decent because the focus was on the production and it wasn’t trying to be anything. This album presents itself like it’s impactful and seems like it’s trying hard to be this meaningful story, but the songs barely even mention anything about College Park or a young Logic, every song basically talks about Logic being himself and not allegedly caring about haters, which seems to be the main topic of basically every Logic song at this point. The only aspect of this album that actually tells a story is the skits and the skits are absolutely terrible. They’re not funny, and the voice acting is awful. The way he tries to force you to feel something with the on the nose inspirational writing makes me feel like I’m a child in a daycare being told to eat my broccoli. I just want a Logic record where he has something interesting to say. I wanna walk away from a Logic album with new perspective, and not just knowing that he is true to himself and loves his family (that’s great, but we already know from the 20 other times you’ve said the same thing💀)
Honestly, it's your opinion. I've accepted you have a different taste to Logic since you gave COADM a 1 even though most of the tracks on there would make it into most people playlists. (hip-hop head's the album wasn't made for you don't cry in the comments COADM is good) But giving College Park a 5 genuinely baffles me after you gave No Pressure & Vinyl Days a 7. You spoke for 17 minutes but i can't find where you justify a 5. A 6 because of the skits would've made sense but a 5 just confuses me.
Reminder that Trippie Redd, Future, Taylor swift, Playboi Carti, ABBA, Bad Bunny, and Ariana Grande all also have gotten albums rated as a 5/10 by fantano, so all things considered it guess that means it's pretty good. Edit: also lil Uzi Vert, Eminem, Harry styles, Coldplay, Post Malone, Clario, Cage the Elephant, Drake, BTS, Joji, Juice WRLD, Artic Monkeys, J. Cole, The Weekend, Young Thug, Gorillaz, among many others
What other artists get doesn't mean anything one way or the other, it's just an enjoyment scale. 5 is neutral. All this means is that other artists have also gotten neutral scores.
@@Elena-gj6owMaybe I wrote in the wrong tone bc I completely agree with you, my comment wasn't meant to be taken as an insult or in any negative way, it was just for fun and games
In all honesty in the next logic project, keep the same production style but he needs to change up his topics. He keep saying the same things. No more talking about being comfortable with himself. No more re using the same lyrics about how he’s only needs to be himself. Just do something new and refreshing. Cuz the production is A+ but the lyrics are getting old after he’s been saying them over and over again since no pressure
Yeah my thoughts too. Like we get it, you’ve got a wife and kid, you’re yourself, you like geeky stuff, you’re going for some sort of record in inserting the n word, etc. Change it up.
Seths part on self meditation was not at all corny in my opinion, it works perfectly after the wu tang reference in logics thought of paying respect to the elders. And not respecting seth as a vocolist is just weird!
Feeling a light 5 on this review. Came solely for a take on Seth’s singing voice because I heard it in a meme once. Leaving kind of confused on what Anthony is trying to be here. Is he a music critic? Is he a comedy skit connoisseur? Is he a life coach? Truly I have no idea, as he doesn’t really give us anything here that he hasn’t said before.
Logic had a string of duds since dropping Everybody, but his last few albums have been good. This album is definitely better than a 5, its at least a 7/7.5.
I think everyone is focusing on the skits too critically. Yes they are corny, but the main focus is the MUSIC. Only 1 bad song (highlife I think we all unanimously agree its the weakest track). But if you ignore the skits, there's some real gold here. I feel like this album WITHOUT the cringey skits is a solid 7/10. honestly you can just skip them anyway, they arent THAT unbearable a few are a little too long tho. Fantano gave lots of praise to the majority of the tracks so I dont see how this project is valued at a 5, seeing that rating made my jaw drop like a cartoon character bro like wow.
I don’t think the sketches that you keep referring to as awful are to be taken that seriously. I took them as a window into how him and his friends were at the time in the rawest sense; just some kids having fun doing what they love. Something goofy that takes you back to the time it is set and to understand they were young and weren’t sure in their meaning, not something with any serious meaning in itself. I do agree they take up far too much time in the album for something that is possibly meant to come across as goofy.
College Park was definitely a better album than Vinyl Days and he gave College Park a 5, and Vinyl Days a 7. All this tells me about Shamtano is that he doesn't like skits at the end of tracks. If any of you up at attem rappers are starting to make albums, make your skits their own track or Damnshano will be angry, very angry. Probably poop his diaper angry and will berate you for doing so. In conclusion, don't be dumb, no fun, skits must be their own tracks.
This album missed an opportunity to go deeper into his early life. Under Pressure was amazing but a pretty surface level “origin story”. Naming this “College Park” and not really going down there lyrically and subject matter wise was a bit of a misfire. 6/10. I really think Logic has just run out of things to rap about and I can’t blame him, dudes dropped a project almost every year it seams like since 2009. Which is insane
Logic has never really been good at concept albums. He is a good rapper, but just like Quentin tarantino, his raps are just filled with random non sense sometimes. His verses never hold a lot of weight or tell a complete story. It’s been my problem with him since almost the beginning.
Lightsabers, Gaithersburg Freestyle and Come On Down are the highlights of this record. Really considered getting it on vinyl but the skits drive me insane.

I thought the skits were funny and perfectly capture Logic's silly humor which I really relate to. Didn't mind listening to them a second or a third time.
The album is definitely 7 and above. I gave it a 8.5.

You can hate the skits, you can dislike the concept BUT SETH MACFARLENE HATE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
A 5? Logic is definitely fantasising of killing you again silly Melon!

I think Mr. Fantano wants Logic to make an album that fully gives us an idea of who is is as an artist. We have touches of it on this album of what Logic has gone through as a person but I don’t think Logic will ever make that type of album because he doesn’t want people to be that close to him which is understandable as a celebrity.
Especially considering the amount of negativity that Logic received in the course of his career

I agree. The critique on Seth MacFarlane was a bit dumb imo. I liked the skits too. I found them funny. Feels like Fantano is a bit stuck up and doesnt like this type of silly humor.

I’m excited for LaDonda pt 2 on the next record after this lovely review 😁

He’s BEEN a talented he’s just poop joke fam guy dude right, which is fair. but! putting that aside, you hear that strong CRYSTAL a clear voice with the steady beat, the strings and the backup chorus flowing with him and it’s actual magic. that was the first logic song i’ve heard myself on my own and it definitely has me entertained
Self Medication was a banger.
10/10.
Gotta be an 8 for me. Probably logics second best project behind under pressure
No pressure is def better than this but I think it’s a good third
let's give it a couple more months and we'll see. this just doesn't compare to half his discography imo. no pressure is better, under pressure is lightyears ahead and so is the incredible true story. YSIV also gives this a run for it's money.

Heheheh hey lois im on the new logic album
I like that you're slowly getting more comfortable giving yourself higher scores melon. Be proud of what you create!
Why not Vinyl Days it, and have the skit be like the voicemails that are their own track?)
Okay, I'm done now.
That's fair, it's like he always just hands the skits the heavy load of the storytelling when he should be doing it himself through his lyricism.
I miss these longer reviews so much really brings me back to when I first found fantano
You look one way, I look the other.

Logic's biggest mistake is thinking that by befriending Fantano, his future projects would be spared or something.
Dude needs serious therapy.
Facts. All the ass kissing after Fantano kept shitting on his projects (even the good ones) was weird as hell.
Not taking Seth MacFarlane’s vocal performances seriously is a bit of an L, good review never the less
A 6 because of the skits would've made sense but a 5 just confuses me.
his logic opinions are always shit, like how you give under pressure a 6, that’s an 8 at least or college park a 5
Somehow, Logic releasing albums so often feels like he's bullying Anthony
5:30 the skit (im almost positive bc its too similar) is based off the Tenacious D Drive Thru skit off their first album

Genuinely man you gotta redo this one
Seth Macfarlane is seriously one of the most underrated musicians on this planet.
Seths part on self meditation was not at all corny in my opinion, it works perfectly after the wu tang reference in logics thought of paying respect to the elders. And not respecting seth as a vocolist is just weird!
I loved the skits, I always laugh at the end of paradise II, plus it makes the whole album a listen through instead of just putting it on shuffle
Fantano typing “Y’all know this is just my opinion, right?” into the description with a gleefully evil grin
Vinyl Days is a lot better than this
This album missed an opportunity to go deeper into his early life.
Honestly I thought this was a solid album. Not his best for sure, but I think it’s one of his most Logic-sounding albums to date
Lightsabers, Gaithersburg Freestyle and Come On Down are the highlights of this record. Really considered getting it on vinyl but the skits drive me insane.
The fact you scored this lower than Yeats new album is laughable
This album is friggin great! Not Logic's best but still an absolutely fantastic and enjoyable rap projects with some great songs!
If you watch the video twice Logic will get a 10/10
