JULY 2011 - Asian bull elephant Prince arrived at the Performing Animal Welfare Society's (PAWS) ARK 2000 sanctuary in San Andreas, CA, on the evening of July 21, 2011. Prince is a retired circus elephant. After being unloaded from his transport truck into his new barn, Prince threw dirt for two hours, ate like crazy, had a drink, then went to sleep in his barn on a soft pile of fresh Welcome Prince!
Prince, you lucky bull! You're in the best place now and will be cared for a loved. No more circus for you, mister! Enjoy your new home and your other bull buddies.
Just shows how paws knows what animals want and need.Thsnk you for your work.
TY so much for saving him
I remember pat she was always an advocate for animals in need. Good to see you again pat

On the contrary, encouraging comments by Pat, Ed, Margaret & others adds a dimension to making Prince feel at home....Nice Video!! We are all glad he has arrived safely!!
Somehow I completely missed the arrival of Prince. Thrilled to see PAWS has another big boy. I'm sure Prince is thrilled with his home.
The work you do is absolutely incredible! Would love to visit. And Prince is such a gorgeous lad! If only there were more places like PAWS to help all the other exotic animals out there in circuses etc.

Prince is a Prince. How he would like to eat some elephant apples! It grew abundantly in North East India. Even now, it is abundant in certain places .If some saplings could be planted in the park! How all the eles would eat ! I dream it every time I see the videos.

Ringling Bros. Circus CRUELTY, FRAUD, & HUMAN DEADLY TUBERCULOSIS
The only time Prince was chained was when keepers had to be in the enclosure with him.
Fun Prince Fact
As of August 2008 and November, 2012, Prince is an Uncle.
His sister Rose Tu, who currently resides at and like Prince was also born at, the Oregon Zoo in Portland, has given birth to two calves.
Samudra (Sam) in 2008, and Lily in 2012. Both reside in Oregon as well.
Prince and Rose Tu share the same parents, Hugo and Me Tu.
Prince's half uncle, Packy, also lives at the Oregon Zoo. Packy is Prince's mother Me Tu's half-brother. He's 51.
I could keep going. But I won't.
Thank you--- I luv these video of how thy are in a better home and people really care.

April 2019 - How's Prince doing now? Thanks!
Prince looks like he's been through a hard time in the circus industry. He looks gaunt. I am THRILLED he is at PAWS. He will be so happy there.
I have seen elephants throw dirt on themselves before but never knew why, does anyone know the answer? I am super curious, thanks!
The dust and mud are used by the elephants as protection for their skin. From the sun and insects mostly.
You're correct about why they cover themselves in mud and dirt. They also have big blood vessels in their ears and they pump blood through them and flap their ears to cool themselves.
Soaking in water, and rolling in mud wallows along with dust bathing is vital for heat regulation as well as pest insect control for an elephant's skin. Also it relieves itches, and helps prevent sun exposure. Plus it feels good!
Ever wonder why an elephant's skin is so wrinkled? It is wrinkled to retain moisture in the wrinkles longer than it would stay in a smooth skin. Mud and dust on a wet skin also gets caught in the wrinkles and is longer lasting at keeping the elephant cool plus it helps prrevent insects and ticks (arachnids) from getting a bite into the tender skin when there is a layer of durt or mud or dust between the skin and the bitey parts. The wrinkles also provide better purchase for tick birds who crawl all over elephants, and other animals, to remove ticks and insects that burrow into the skin and drink the elephants blood. Parasites such as ticks and insects are tasty meals for tick birds.

Good information. Do you work at a zoo?
I believe it dissuades flies from pestering them and just feels good
As if it wasn't exciting enough today.
Do these bull Elephants live alone or are they social given their various Backgrounds?
Prince was never in a circus. The statement in the description is wrong,
Jean Taylor - Jean - Prince never performed whatsoever ? To my knowledge he was trained and handled in FC at Williston for years up until the trainer was no longer there and both Prince and Sabu where cared for by handlers more or less and converted to PC..... He was castrated correct ? Any information would be fantastic ! Thanks In Advance .... ❤️ 🐘
Prince was with Ringling Bros? Those monsters would never allow an Elephant to Leave due to their elephants being held hostage at the Breeding Farm Prison in Polk City Florida
He wasn’t housed in Polk but in Wiliston.... as for being housed by monsters, I certainly did not feel that was the case. Both Prince and Sabu where housed there and altho once there trainer was no longer there, and their caregivers where switched to barn hands, and they both certainly gained weight after that due to lack of exercise, they both where definitely cared for, and a hard life, I definitely beg to disagree..... as for RB never allowing to give up any elephants to other facilities- that is again far from the truth since if you ever looked at their elephants - you will find them located coast to coast...
Where's his WATER ??????????????
Lady has trouble talking?
As we grow older, we all will have trouble with something..... but in the meantime, she's working hard rescuing zoo and circus animals from their squalid existences and making sure their new habitat functions to it's best.
@@sparra3819 she's still with us?
@@soniadowney7427 Oh, no, I believe she's not. I guess I meant at the time of the video.
