I am a new subscriber and enjoy catching up on your videos. You both do great in front of the camera. David is fun to watch. He looks at woody like a god hahaha, always trying to stay right next to him. David was a great rescue and add to the homestead
Dave is 100% dedicated to woody. I think now that it’s been a couple of months he’s warming up to Wade, Wade doesn’t ever like for us to tell Dave no. He gets very mad lol…
I feel for you about the hard soil . Living in N . Dakota I wanted to put in a vegetable garden . After a hour of digging with a pick and shovel I decided that there weren't enough years left in my life to finish it , so I back filled what little progress I made and decided to build raised beds . My dog was relieved to because she had never seen me so miserable before . 😂 Wish I was about 40 years younger . My hats off to the two of you for not letting the good earth get the best of you . The video was entertaining with a good cup of coffee and a smile on my face . My best to your family . 👍
Oh gosh isn’t that crazy! There’s so much farming up there but the ground is just hard to work. Gotta give credit to the folks who decided to settle that area. Thank you for joining us! We are just getting started here, I can’t wait to make my own raised beds & have some food growing on the property. The big plan is to eventually have a few bison. Nothing crazy, but enough for us and our neighbors.
@@woodysbarndominium I'm glad to hear that you're going to raise bison . I view a couple of channels of folks that have them . A truly majestic beast and I would love to see them herding across America and Canada again . Everyone have a great day and I'll see you in the next video 😁 .
Your dedication to setting up an off-grid solar hub and workshop in a shipping container is truly impressive! You bring such ingenuity and determination to every project, turning challenges into opportunities for sustainable living and creativity. And I am a floating village life from Vietnam.
The Mudmixer is a great tool especially working mostly by yourself. Not sure about your water source but you plug in a garden hose and generator and can adjust the mixer as you prefer. Automatic auger drops it while you keep it loaded with your bags. Love your channel, keep up the good fight!
so funny! I (Megan) was feeling so bad for him but the next day he was talking about how great he felt. I have a feeling he going to get back into serious workouts here soon.
@@woodysbarndominium absolutely, and that is why you guys will do so well. I’m convinced you will triumph over it all because of your attitude. You are an inspiration, and I wish you all the best!
Nice progress yall are making. Enjoy watching yalls story. With that big excavator yall should invest in a quick attatch coupler for it, you can get pallet forks, different size buckets for it, and a ton of different attachments from augers, rock hammers brush cutters, stump grinders that I bet yall would definitely be able to make use of and make life easier out there in the woods.
Yea I wished I had an English operators manual to look tho before I bought our grey machine since I later found out I can’t run a hammer with the offset boom. I do have a Craig wedge coupler but I haven’t saved for any other attachments, and I have to weld their ears on my bucket to use it.
If you make the concrete tubes little shorter and when you start to fill them you lift the tube up a little and the concrete sliding down. Then you get a nice wider footings under the tube how now is wider. Also if you want to make a foundation for a house there are a more easy way to do it. Dig a hole for the tubes, then start to assembly the outer frame for the floor, lift the frame you now got and install a temporary stick/wood how hold the frame from the ground, Now you can easy get it level and right diagonal. Install the metal U-joist to the frame and now you have it in the right high in the tube, do not forget the steel bar in the tube. When the concrete is dry , you have a frame for the house in the right level. easy to adjust the tubes, just lift them if you need, more you lift more concrete footings you got under the tube. U-joist shall be so near the concrete as possible and you get more stable frame.
I've been in construction my hole life, tiny advice leave concrete where it is, move once. On to wheel barrel over to mixer. Mixer on wheels, place next to hole an secure. Dump bag in mixer an water. Mix thoroughly dump mix in hole. Move mixer to next hole an repeat. Less work faster production, saves on your back. 😊
Rent a miniskid with rock auger next time. We live in the Ozarks also and know your pain on getting holes dug (fyi tractor auger doesn’t work here either).
Your going to needs to watch the sun come up and see how many trees are still blocking with shade early in the day so you can maximize you daily solar production.
There’s a ton of clearing left to be done, but our current struggle is that we lack the open space to process trees once they’re down. Once we get all the welding done on the container we’ll re-group and start processing all the trees we’ve already dropped. That should give us enough space to work as we clear. It all just takes time.
Nice job guys. I'm looking forward to the video where you move the Conex box atop the concrete pylons. Don't edit that video. Let's start an over-under 50/50 pool placing bets on the amount of times Woody cusses. :)
While the excavator could definitely have dug some holes, they would have been way too big. We didn’t want to disrupt any of the soil that we didn’t have to, which made this tedious, but a much better product in the end
I know equipment is expensive but Woody needs a tractor with loader I use a 60 hp Zetor this is my 3 rd Zetor but I did what he does all my life and got down in legs and back at age 52 ,now everything has to be handicap, just be careful young man
are you not afraid of fire with all those trees so close to the house?....I would make a huge clearing for all the dwellings and utilities, but thats just me....🙂
That’s the plan! We just need to get some of what we’ve already cleared burned or processed first. There’s literally no where to put more downed trees right now.
The bucket on the excavator is about 18-20” wide and can’t dig less than. 2’ wide hole, way more than we needed or wanted for this. The less we disturb the soil, the less it’ll move on us in the future!
It’s going to be in the spot permanently, we’re going to do 2 more footers once the container is placed and make a 15’ overhang off one side. We don’t want it shifting.
just started watching you all like, what I like what i have seen so far
Well here there! Welcome to the party 😉

I’d love to rent a skid, but it just wasn’t in the budget this go around. Especially when this method was like, $150.00 all in 😆

HAHA well then im sure your vocabulary would fit right in around here!
Guy I give it to you for sticking with it but you could have use the excavator and been done already.
While the excavator could definitely have dug some holes, they would have been way too big. We didn’t want to disrupt any of the soil that we didn’t have to, which made this tedious, but a much better product in the end
Curious, but if renting the auger for the day. Why aren't you angering instead of dinking around with other stuff? Prepare ahead for the project.
The auger isn’t going to eat through a 12”x8”x4” chunk of rock. Not sure what preparation has to do with handling that?
I know equipment is expensive but Woody needs a tractor with loader I use a 60 hp Zetor this is my 3 rd Zetor but I did what he does all my life and got down in legs and back at age 52 ,now everything has to be handicap, just be careful young man
With all the awkward lifting you do a dolly would save a lot of headache.
Should have used the excavator to dig the hole since there are rocks.
The bucket is wayyyy too big :(
