It’s divided between fans, but they make disastrous decisions from player spendings to having their mates in board positions. We make no turnaround on players, no profit from talent, everyone who’s a success elsewhere becomes a flop at Stoke and vice versa. On top of this, they’ve already chosen Norwich’s head coach (not their manager) with no managerial experience at all as the manager favourite within an hour of sacking Schumacher. The club is in the bin. They’ve shat on their fans. I genuinely am starting to dislike our club.
As someone who grew up in Stoke during the Premier League era it needs to be said that so many fans were never satisfied with finishing in the top half/comfortable mid table of the Premier League after the initial few Pulis years. He was forced out for his style of play despite his overachievements year after year. Then they were never satisfied with Hughes for not taking them to the next level. I’m a Stoke fan. I was absolutely gutted that Schumacher got sacked/left (really not sure what actually happened there). He had the highest win % of any our 7 managers since we got relegated. The fans liked him. We started off this season well then we sack him after the first 5 or so games into the season. Crazy. I have lost all hopes of any progress season as we have YET ANOTHER season of letting the manager settle in and build the team he wants. Our current teams fullback situation is horrendous, we have no ball winning midfielder but our attack looks okay. This means we’re playing relatively well against worse teams (we have had some high scoring games this season) but we get absolutely dominated by any stronger team. Really don’t know what to expect of the new manager, however he has my full support, as usual. We will see a return to the top flight. We are a big club (one of the founding clubs in the English league) with owners who have the funds to bring in big talent. Let’s see what happens but I will always remain hopeful for the long term.
As a stoke fan it’s a shame what’s happened our club is upsetting we went from a strong premier league team to losing to teams at the bottom of the table struggling its shambolic at this club now
Stoke City. The club that you associate with Championship mediocrity the most. Besides Bristol City and Preston North End. Those two have an unshakeable ground which cannot and will not allow them to be defeated in this matter. An admirable effort nonetheless.
It’s been a disaster since the Paul Lambert appointment. There’s a lack of experience from board level down and the only way to fix it is with a long term joined up strategy which involves all partitions of the club working together - that includes the fans!
I do feel like Stoke occupy that strange period between mid-table premier league sides, because before you had Blackburn, Bolton, Reading, Wigan, etc. But since 2013 onwards we've seen Palace, Brighton, Brentford, Forest and Bournemouth either come up or return, Stoke weren't really part of either cohort despite being in the prem for nearly 7 years.
@@Vizeh Agreed. Stoke could attract 30,000 crowds in a way that those three never could. Schumacher was sacked beacuse he didnt get on with JW who we appointed with 0 experience last year.. some interesting decisions but the recent signings/appointments are at least players that have potential and aren't on the downhill of their career.. if we're still down there in 2 years we will be for the next 20
As an Ipswich Town fan all I can say is hang in there for another 8-9 seasons, get relegated to league one and then rebuild. Nearly half the current Premier League has been in league one in the past 10 years
As a proud Blackburn Rovers fan, I feel the pain of watching a club dissolve into a puddle of mediocrity. Teasing you with a 7th place finish in Championship to needing an improbable victory away to stave off relegation the following year. The yo-yo of emotions gets exhausting.
We used to be a proper club who stuck with managers long-term with a solid premier league reputation. Now we’re known for tapping up lower championship club’s managers and failing….what has happened to my club 😔
Daniel Storey wrote a piece about QPR and he said, I am paraphrasing, that a monied, benign ownership is not leadership. Many of these clubs don't have leadership because they employ people in the boardroom of no real worth and then create a structure that doesn't allow a manager to bring that leadership. If the Coates family are serious, one of them needs to dedicate their time full-time to the club.
I went to my first Stoke game in 1961...supporting them has ALWAYS been a roller coaster with highs, lows, doldrums and party times...the down times have to be endured because they then make the good times all the sweeter. If you're a genuine fan, you know you're going to have to put up with some dross and keep faith with the club, because really great things WILL roll round again. Not to mention that even in rubbish periods, there's always the odd random entertaining performance/result. However, the club really should get behind one manager, believe in him and give him a longer time to build a consistent side. Maybe Pelach (welcome to the Potteries) might be that man...
Shawcross, Delap, Crouch, Nzongi, Huth they were a big strong nasty team that had enough technical ability with Shaqiri and that Arnatoovic pretty sure i spelled it wrong.
Reminds me of how Birmingham City made a traitorous decision by sacking John Eustace while the club was in playoff spot and replaced with Wayne Rooney, who led this team to the relegation zone and never recovered back.
Noticing that Swansea City got relegated that same season. A video on them would be brill (my team, no bias here… obvs)! You can track Swansea’s slow rot at the top level when the local businessmen that ran the club sold the club to distant, millionaire Americans. But despite being relegated to the Championship, there have been a series of near-misses in promotion pushes and academy success stories at the level too.
Being a Southampton fan, I always remember that game at the Liberty Stadium between us two clubs when Gabbadini got the winning goal, I can only assume you’ve got a bit of a grudge against us now after taking Russell Martin, Flynn Downes, Nathan Wood, and Ryan Manning
I think the closest thing we have to Stoke City today is Brentford. They are that mid table Premier League club. Who are just trying to stay in the top division. But Stoke are the Championship equivalent. I grew up watching Stoke thrive in the Premier League. To see them struggling is really quite sad for almost 10 years now.
Stoke fan here, no idea why we sacked Schumacher. He didn’t do a bad job. The fans loved him and yet, according to the board, he wasn’t the right fit for the club. And we’re replacing him with unknown assistant at Norwich, well done Stoke. Do I think we’ll be back in the prem in five years. No, I don’t think we will scrape playoffs. We’ll be languishing in mid table or relegation battles.
We seem to form a protective bubble around the Coates family as they are local and have pumped resources into us in the past, however they shouldn’t be immune to criticism, ever since John Coates took the majority of the club, it’s been bad decisions
Stoke fan here, it's been an incredibly tough few years. We get so hopeful every year. I feel like we have such a good squad like Jun-ho, Burger, etc. Just feels like bad decisions at the top. We accept mediocrity.

Just to point out, Schumacher didn't buy any players. He was just a coach at Stoke City and not the manager, he had no decision-making power with regards to transfers.
The only thing about schumachers sacking that surprised me was that it didn't happen at the end of last season. Stoke never give a manager time to get things sorted, sometimes you have to just bite the bullet and accept a rough season or two so the manager can get things exactly as he wants it. Players get used to how a manager wants them to play then the board sack him and things have to start all over again with a new gaffer who wants things done a different way.... But stoke will be stoke. You’ve surprised me a lot with how good you’ve been
We've never lost to Stoke at Home!
@@Vizeh I genuinely think we could go for top 10, kassam is a three sided fortress and des Buckingham is a genius
Stoke has never beaten us at home, in 10 attempts
Just enjoy your team playing well while you can this league is ruthless
as a stoke fan i hate what jas happened to the club and it hurts to be a fan nowadays
Please what song is playing from the beginning? Can’t get it out of my head! Love it! Help please!!
As a chelsea fan it is so sad to see where they are now
No it’s not it’s hilarious
Boring, depressing, defensive football. Stoke can stay the fuck away from the Prem, thank you very much.
Yep 👍🏻
I do feel like Stoke occupy that strange period between mid-table premier league sides, because before you had Blackburn, Bolton, Reading, Wigan, etc. But since 2013 onwards we've seen Palace, Brighton, Brentford, Forest and Bournemouth either come up or return, Stoke weren't really part of either cohort despite being in the prem for nearly 7 years.
I’d say stoke is much more Prem than a Reading, Watford, Wigan etc
@@Vizeh Agreed. Stoke could attract 30,000 crowds in a way that those three never could. Problem with clubs like Stoke is that the longer they are out of the top league, the more that 10 year olds in Staffordshire will close to support Man City or Liverpool rather than their local club THAT THEY COULD ACTUALLY GO AND WATCH PLAY !!
Stoke have a long history of top flight football. Reading Watford and Wigan were lower league sides that got lucky with good owners.
@@indiekiddrugpatrol3117 I think that's true. WIgan in particular got very lucky with Dave Whelan - that luck will not strike twice. Reading is also NOT a football town. As for Watfrod, 10 managers in 10 years tells you everything.
@@rjw4762 reading were bankrolled by the owner of auto trader magazine whilst Elton John funded watfords rise from 4th to 1st division in the early 80s
As a Forest fan, who now might - MIGHT - be establising themselves as a PL club - that 23 years outside the top flight seemed like 123 years. It can be a LONG road back....and the bigger the club the harder they fall.
9:07 4-4-2 brexit ball
Stoke being in the prem is nostalgic to me
I feel really bad for stoke, premier league need some unhospital stadiums to show those little stars how is done in England
Don't think they'll get back to the Premier League but they are a solid Championship club.
I feel sorry for stoke . I missed the Barclays era but looking at the like of Peter crouch etc , it’s sad to see them like this
Bro pulls that like subscribe in the middle of the video and my dumb ass starts thinking the videos finished
It always gets me ngl 😂
Not a Stoke fan, but given the wealth of the Coates family, I'd long since thought that Stoke have punched below their weight for past 7-8 years.
We used to be a proper club who stuck with managers long-term with a solid premier league reputation. Now we’re known for tapping up lower championship club’s managers and failing….what has happened to my club 😔
We’re fooked, John Coates is ruining this club.
Y’all sleeping on Swindon Towns downfall, they went from PL to now hovering Above drop zone to Non League
As a Stoke fan it hurts to watch this
Any other Oxford fans here watching this. It’s 2024 and Oxford r getting managers sacked 😂
Shawcross, Delap, Crouch, Nzongi, Huth they were a big strong nasty team that had enough technical ability with Shaqiri and that Arnatoovic pretty sure i spelled it wrong.
Really big fan of Million Manhoef, who went there this season from Vitesse. Hope they will manage to end up high in a couple of seasons..
He’s good but he never passes and greed is starting to make me feel a slight dislike to him, he needs to become part of the team
just a suggestion, but could you make a video about Carlos Corberan?
The Schumacher sacking was a terrible decision
@lewiselliott3969 Looking do you think that was a defining match in the future of both clubs?
The most legendary banter ALWAYS includes with “…but could he do it on a rainy night in Stoke?” 🤭🤭🤭🤭
All I remember is Arnautovic and Shaqiri.
Joselu Bojan and Butland too
Never forget the legend Choupo-Moting
can never forget crouchy
The way I see it, Stoke has spent this long away from the top that I just don't think they'll ever be ran competently enough to be back again.
As you put a photo of the Venky’s do you think this can be the year Blackburn return to the Premier League?
Watching Stoke play "Football" was equivalent to poor bleach straight into your eye hole
But you know... Was REAL BARCLAYS MEN's futebol not that tiki tiki bs as some guy will tell you
@@jpwaitforit5801 no clue what that's supposed to mean but I assume you must love Ultra-Defensive football with constant long balls and all that because that's super exiting right buddy
@@Nicho213007 It's irony.
because now everyone is nostalgic for older football (the Barclays phenomenon) and they say that football nowadays is boring. in fact pep's football is my favorite type of football
@@jpwaitforit5801 Fair enough. I can't say I am at all nostalgic for that era of football one bit you know Allardyce and Pulis types while I certainly could find some entertainment from Allardyce from his press conferences and antics on the sidelines I would never pay a dime to watch his brand of football and yes absolutely Peps brand of football is beautiful to watch but ultimately for me as long you have an attack-minded approach to football how or why a manager choose to apply that is irrelevant to me chances are I will enjoy it
When Gary Rowett was asked in Stokes first season whether they'd be in a title challenge, he arrogantly laughed and said "have you seen our squad" lmao
Nobody liked playing that Stoke side at the Brittana in the PL days despite there lack of overall quality
I don’t really support any team, but I love football mainly Domestic Football, Every Season I look at Stoke and think they shoukf be in the top 10, pushing for the play offs
can you do a video on the man city situation? like is anything actually gonna happen?
So sad them going downhill like this....
The barclays era didn't end when they stopped sponsoring the premier league, but when Stoke got relegated
Honestly I don’t think anyone outside of Stoke is devastated about their downfall 😂
For years they’ve tried to buy their way out of the league. Spending on players & pinching managers off of other clubs. Every summer, their fans get ahead of themselves only to finish bottom half 😂
You’re obviously not very well versed in championship affairs. If you look at our spending since the second season we came down, we’ve actually not spent half as much as the clubs around us. The only reasons we’ve been able to spend anything since Michael O’Neill took charge 4 years ago was because he balanced our books.
Dont make silly comments when you don’t know what you’re talking about. Silly boy.
I’m a Chelsea fan and while I’m not devastated about Stoke’s downfall it is quite sad to see. Would be nice to see them rise again soon
@@davidevans9033 more so wages, compensation in poaching & then sacking managers constantly. Bare in mind those parachute payments ran out a long time ago (wanna leave out the first 2 seasons because buying the league failed)
Either way more money has been wasted

Well I'm from Aberdeen and this does hurt.
We meed a video on dean marney
it wasnt too long ago where stoke city was a well managed team, sucks to see teams like them slowly fall
Stoke have got more chance playing league two football in the next five years than premier league
SS sacking came as a shock. Can only think that behind the scenes he was perceived as an unsafe pair of hands and when the right alternative came along they got ring. Just got to believe that Super Johnny Walters has made the right move. If he has we will be back in the Prem within 2-3 years as everything else is good to go. Going the match tonight and the sun is shining. Expect us to win 4 nil 😊 😆 😃
Just to point out, Schumacher didn't buy any players. He was just a coach at Stoke City and not the manager, he had no decision-making power with regards to transfers.
Bro, your audio compared to other youtube videos is very quiet
there is a common denominator to stoke's downfall- john coates
Any Stoke fans here think you'll keep Koumas for next season (on loan from Liverpool rn)?
I hope so but I would run for my life if I was him
The only thing about schumachers sacking that surprised me was that it didn't happen at the end of last season.
They will poach another manager with the offer of big money, spend some dosh on some players and then 6 months down the line sack him claiming the club isn't going in the direction they want and then start the cycle all over again....
Peter Crouch was a legend!!
They need to bring back Tony Pulis. I really miss his "tactics" 😂
Remember John Walters hat trick of own goals? Those were the days 😂
I see I'm not the only Oxford fan here 😎
Times have changed there, players aren't there for our club, just there for the chairman's £££
