Congratulations for the job. I did the same retrofit on my F30 2013. Plugging the HUD is the simple part of the job. The more complicated part is to remove all parts from shift parts to dashboard. It's a hard work takes long time... Again congratulations 👍

Hey! So no I didn’t cut the dashboard. If you look at the other video about the change color you’ll see why… it’s doable, but I don’t like to do things that way… check it out. The silicon thing part number is 61 35 9 856 157 I got it through ecstunning but if you are in Europe you can get it through schmiedmann. Hopefully one day they will show me love the way I show them love Hahahah… sponsor requiered. Also don’t forget to change the windshield

Well I disconnect the battery most of the time so the camera is unaffected. But yes good point. It does need to be calibrated. Since this was a full retrofit I am used to do that on a regular basis now 😂

Hi Terrance, that’s a little tough to say. But I would say that it starts by deciding if some feature is something that you really want and can somehow help you enjoy your experience with your car. So it’s a little bit different for each person. Before jumping into any programs for coding, I would suggest really reading up on how your car systems work and what do you need to achieve the retrofit you are after, because these cara are very easy to break if you don’t know what you are doing. That said, if you have more questions, I wouldn’t mind helping you figure things out.

Yes always use a battery auxiliary power to keep it over 14.4v no matter what you do. It might sound overkill for even simple codings, but better be safe than sorry

Hehe yeah might as well get the masks to have more than one useful function :). I don’t think the rectangular ones have a silicone pad, I have seen a plastic rectangular thing on the windshield where the sensor attaches to.

Hi name is Donald, I would like to retrofit head up display in my BMW 440 I in a 2018 convertible, so would I need to change the front windscreen to get the image to look ok ? I should be getting this vehicle in a week or so and I’m trying to get all of the parts that will be required beforehand like the dashboard, light module in the screen and sticky clear adhesive, and the other item that I will need to get is the head up display. So do I need to get any other parts for this retrofit. So my options, that I would like to retrofit in the vehicle I will be comfort access, folding mirrors, Apple CarPlay, head up Display, and speed indication in the cluster.
That is correct unless you have the camera already installed… some windshields will be polarized already, check at the bottom of the windshield if it says HUD
Hi Marc, you could find the enet cable and the software on eBay or Amazon. Do some searches with your favorite web search tool and you will definitely find tons of results.

Hi Rokas, we are happy you enjoyed the video. What do you mean by “find out” do you mean why did I choose that date? And yes in my case I needed to code lol those modules so they all know that I have a 6wb and not 6wa. In your case if you are only adding the 6wb you need to code everything that communicates with it, most of the time it will be the FEM or BDC, HU, and KAFAS, as well as the Komibi so the FA matches your car.
Oh I chose that because the production dates of those modules ranged from 0716 to 0719 (hardware) so I chose an in between all of them to make sure I have functionality between them.
Yeah it does need a different dash, check out the other videos where I explain how to change it, and even change the color of the dash. As I say on that video there are people that cut the dash, but I prefer not to do it.

Not really, when I put everything back in; I made sure to put some loctite on screws and blots, also as a precaution I put a little bit more padding on some parts that showed rubbing. So far so good and no rattles whatsoever
I've seen a few pictures of the 6WB cluster where the gas and temp gauges are upright, like in the traditional analog cluster, instead of turning the gauges sideways. Is this a setting in the cluster that can be changed?
That’s interesting, but don’t I don’t understand what you mean by upright. But as far as I know those two gauges are actually analog. Just a couple of dials.

Hi. In our other video, I tried to install the plug and on the non-hud cluster and it didn’t work. There is no way you can have hud without a hid cluster in the f-series 😢
Hmm, I don't know what I am doing differently but when I code DKOMBI the current gear indicator (P/N/D) doesn't show. I've tried timecriteria 0317 and 0717 but no difference.
Solved. Used the original timecriteria instead of the 0317, 0717 or 1117. It now shows the gear and works but I don't know why. The guides I followed instructed that you need to change the timecrtieria to a date when 6WB was available to the F30. No fault codes when scanned.
Hi are you using icom or just enet cable? I’ve just done this retrofit now I need to code virginised cluster to my car and e-sys won’t connect via vin (greyed) and it just to connect before when I did map update
I used ENET, but IT would be totally recommended to do it with ICOM. IT did happen to me that the VIN connection was greyed out, but I let the car go to sleep (15 mins or so) and then it worked.
@@DorksandBolts it does connect via vin once I let it sit for couple hours, but now I can’t inject CAFD to kombi because option “detect CAF for..” is greyed and where it says I-step it shows “not available”

HI, the rain sensor is 61356814596 but make sure that it does have all the functions for your car as well, these are very option dependent. yeah I did replace the windshield, check out the other video.
Hi, not really. We didn’t code anything like that on the kombi or the HUD yet. But maybe later, of course we will try to either have the mperformance or 435 in there... currently none of those are possible. If you see this showing up at start up, make sure you are coding the VO/FA to the units

Hi Kaiwen, the style is country specific. The round circle is for Europe and Asia, square is for North America and some odd Europe country I believe... I have seen the option to change the way it displays inside the kombi module, but I don’t know if that might interfere or not recognize traffic signs. Technically it shouldn’t, but I can’t be sure about it.

Do not disconect the camera, ADAS recalibration will be required after. :). You can easily remove just the rain sensor with out all that mess

No, the windshield is not tinted. I guess it can be a solution; however, in Canada, putting any film on the windshield is illegal.

We do not have experience of doing this with OBD readers, so I would be wrong to say that “computer software is the only way to do it”

when you disassemble the whole dash like that when you put it back in won't some parts start to creek or something like that?

No, the hud works just with the cluster, you do have to have the plug for it in either the 6wa or 6wb

Hi Nikola, there are so many things that can cause this. Did you have the option working before? Where are you trying to turn the HUD on? Did you retrofit something else? I really can’t say much if you don’t give me more details about what exactly is going on and what have you done to the car
