great video! Thx for the info!
Shane , nice video on the settings 👌 👍 brother! Going to do that later today on my SW5 Pro 👊
Awesome Video, I will add this to my watch list and probably review it several times when needed. thanks so much for all the help. MJ
Great video. Thank you!
Thanks for the tips.
May I ask what brand / model is the strap that's shown in the video preview?
Thank you!
Turning off the touch screen to wake will save battery too as the screen is always on to anticipate your touch. I just wake it by raising my wrist or by pressing one of the buttons.
Thanks, I just got a Watch 5 and this is really helpfull.
Have to charge it everyday?
Copped the watch 5 for $120 with my gear sport trade in. Can't wait to get it
Used all these tips and some other tips from other videos from the second I unboxed it and have gotten 2 full days and used 80%. So I'd say 2.5 days max for the Galaxy watch 5 44mm. Not bad, better than I expected since I kept hearing people saying they charge it every night. I work construction for reference so my watch has lots to track through out my days.
I have both (Watch 5 and Huawei GT3) and honestly, I don't know how the GT3 does it but I get 2 weeks with no need to charge and I workout almost everyday. ;-)
@@vfariasBecause GT3 is not using wear os,smartwatch that using wear os tend to drain the battery fast
Thanks 😘
Best explanation on this subject. Clear voice and examples. Thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
This was superb. My watch is new but dying after a day of use. Hope your tips will help. Thank you.
Yeah that's very brief for this watch
Great tips! Thanks. I also went through and deleted the apps off the watch I'll never use. I hope that helps also. You didn't mention deleting the apps. Do you think that helps save some battery? I just traded my new watch 4 (Christmas gift) for the 5 solely for the bigger battery. I'll get it Thursday and def try out these tips!
If the apps aren't running I don't think removing them will do a lot.
Great!
hey thanks for the tips, a question how long does the watch last with normal use with everything on? AOD? Notifications ? Etc
Bravo, bravo and bravo !
Thanks for all super tips 🏆
I have just one question for you if you have a litlle time to answer to me.
If I turn on "battery saver" is it mean that I still get all my notifications to watch (because in this option sadi : "limit background activity") ?
Or this sentence no matter with receive notification ?
Sorry because I am disturbing you and for my grammar mistake.
Thanks a lot, PLEASE answer if you want 🙏
Best regards and best wishes to you and yourr family 💯
Great hows bout Developer mode. Go to build tap on it 4 times. And turn off all Animations etc like you can on smart phones
I have this watch, and I am on 50% after 4 and a half days. I am in Airplane mode, daily I switch back the BT once and off. Continuues pulse is on and step counter on and sleep tracking only. And thats it. So 8-9 days in a single charge.
Such a bullshit even samsung said 5 pro battery is max for 80 hours so how u can get more 😂😂😂 infinity battery?
You better buy analog watch it can give you years full battery life with time measurement upto seconds, invest more some watches can show dates too.
I assumed the watch uses BLT to sync with my android phone for most apps. However, do the apps need WIFI to up/download data from the internet when they are running? For example, whatsApp syncs with the phone and gets the notifications but doesn't it require WIFI connectivity to send/receive msg? Another energy saving option is whether to use LTE or WIFI since I have a LTE enabled smartwatch.
Got mine yesterday... out of the box after first charge battery went from 100 to 6% in 18h. 7h of which were during sleep. Lets see if your guide helps me. According to the app though my watch shouldve lost around 10% battery only from screentime and app usage
For reference my old fitness band (galaxy fit 2) have a battery that lasts 6-7 days
To me on the watch 5. I already do some of these but even if I use power save it only adds like 3hrs of battery life. I know the 5 pro is better but the only way I can get 4-5 days is if I used "watch only" which then what is the point of having the watch.
Shane, what's up brother ? Changed some settings like you said and did a couple on my own which works perfectly for me! Just over 4 full days =97 hours and still have 30% battery life left. That's on my first charge ever out of the box! 😃🙃
Question when is the best time to charge the battery 🔋 percentage at ? I know rule of thumb for cell phones they say between 20 to 30% then charge it up to 80 to 90% to keep the life cycle stronger. But how about a watch ⌚️?
No one ever talks about that ? Lol 😆
Similar rules apply
@@scaryifliteral Sounds good 👍 Shane thanks! Yeah so never good to drain any of those Electronics battery 🔋 to 0% and then charge to a full 100%. ?
Hey! That's impressive! Can you please be more detailed regarding which settings you have, for the watch to last long? I don't own a watch 5 rn but if it worths i will get one. I need a watch that will last at least a week for basic features such as calls, texts, notifications, fc for payments, and measure of sp02, heartbeat etc.. On request. I'm not really a sporty person for the workout modes
This is a very helpful video. Thank you so much. I can't find how to edit the health stuff such as stress or heart rate. How exactly do I turn those features off? Can you please help me? From the very first step. Thanks
This is all found inside the Samsung wearables application under watch settings.
@@scaryifliteral Thanks.
What is the band you are using? Thanks for tips.

After pairing my Samsung ear buds yesterday afternoon, I drained my battery in like 7 hours. I don't know what happened. I realized my watch died in the middle of the night. I charged it to 100%, turned it on and I was losing a % per minute. I did everything you said in your video. It seems to have slowed down, but I am wondering if pairing my earbuds did something. I had hoped to be able to use my earbuds with my watch and not need my phone while walking my dog. But not if its going to drain my battery. Do you think I should unpair my ear buds? BTW, they are not at work with me where my watch battery is draining fast.
I do all the tricks and I still drain pretty fast, I guess it's because I get a lot of emails for work. But that's what I want my phone for, to see work related messages without pulling out my phone (teacher)... Kinda defeats the purpose of a smart watch.
Same as for Watch 4
I brought my Watch 5 a day and a half ago.
1] Battery life looks to be around one day. I have tweaked so many things... display, notifications, grayscale, turn off lte, sound and vibration, health features, gestures, etc.
I've heard of three to five days.
Will it get better?
2] Notifications on watch - sound and vibration - are not consistent.
Is it normal that it misses some?
I'm just learning. Appreciate any help.
5 or 5 Pro? My 5 Pro got 3-ish.
@@scaryifliteral 5 ...
Got my watch 5 last weekend and also getting just over a day. Overnight drained 25%. Have altered a few more settings. Has yours improved?
not find notification thing where is ot galaxy watch 5 pro?
I don' bave the pro watch 5 but Just the regular one and im so disapointed that I need to charge my watch every day....
Which band you are using plz give me link
What's that app that allows you to use your phone on your computer?
Phone Link
@@scaryifliteral thanks buddy, your video was very helpful, appreciate you
Hi Shane, hoe do I disable my RUclips option ? When I play RUclips on my phone, my watch is showing that too. How do I turn that off my watch?
I assume you mean it's showing controls for you too. I don't know that that's something you can turn off without turning off controls for all media.
@Shane Craig I tried but it doesn't work. 😟
Man do i regret buying this thing
I've followed all these tips and I've still lost 25% of my battery in 9 hours. I don't see how anybody can get this thing to last 4 days. The battery actually seems to be doing worse than my Galaxy 3
That is not normal at all.
I lost 25% overnight last night and that was un bedtime mode! Only got the watch at the weekend so wonder if it's still learning. Have a lot of these features turned off as per your video. Just turned off the Bixby listening just now and one or two other things, so will see.
@faded, even I'm having the same issue. Don't know what's happening
@@tiffenbergjust bought mine i lost almost 25% over night with bedtime mode can you give me an update pla
I'm only having 1days and 22hours with power saving mode and everything turn off except for the Bluetooth and LTE in automatic, I don't know why
If u have ur phone with u all the time use the Bluetooth connect u don't need LTE.... I only use LTE wen I'm in the gym I leave cell in the locker and take my watch with my buds.. LTE drains ur battery
It's Ridiculous that we can't have Our watches set up the way we want bc it will only last a few hours. These darn companies need to get with the program and make batteries that actually last thru the settings for the Purpose we have these watches For
Without changing a single setting from default nine last over 2 days.
I get 5 to 7 days out of my Watch5 Pro as I go in each app and deny permissions and made sure every health sensor use was denied. I also keep my watch in power saving mode.
Did u turn on the watch?
@@muhammadsyazlisazali Well, 98% of the features of the watch is gimmicks. The health aspect of the watch is a 100% gimmick. 100% of the health information from the watch is useless in the medical field.
Please stop saying that much bullshit when you can't back it up, someone made a 1h review from a medical perspective and the watch 5 isn't the best compared to others but the data's are pretty accurate, so please shut up next time and go buy a normal watch if you're not gonna use any of the sensors, thanks !
Can you please explain what you did exactly? How did you deny health sensors use?
@@MirkoSaveriano look at your permissions on your sensors and see who's using them or just turn them off.
FTA
👍
Just got mine not the pro tho and it has its own data and mine won't even last 8 hours with very minimal use 🤣 and that's with almost all that turned off
Such a nice watch but battery life sucks! My watch dies within three hours...have to charge it multiple times a day!! Ugh
Something is badly wrong with your watch. I get 2-3 days with everything enabled.
So let me get this straight: You buy a fitness watch to turn most of it's features off to a: save battery life and b: because they are not accurate? So this is an expensive step counter?
Nope. I'm showing people how they can further extend the already good battery life in various ways. They can use each tip if they value extra battery over that particular feature. No idea why that's hard to understand. Crazy to me how people can find negatives in literally anything.
Can't believe my watch only lasts 2 hrs
whats a point of smart watch just buy normal watch vola u get year of battery lol
Health tracking, receive and respond to notifications without getting your phone out, fall detection, lots of stuff?
NOPE... Battery saver on, wifi and bluetooth off, location off and mine wont get 16hrs.... get a fitbit
NOPE... Without changing a single setting I got at least two days lol.
@Shane Craig ive had mine for two days and it went dead both. Totally disappointed and a non-reccommend for a real-world user
I only get a day 😭 i hate my watch 5
That's for days if you don't use it for nothing cuz I have one
Nope, normal use.
it suks why i need to tur almost totañly off
You don't. Most of these are settings to tweak, not things we're turning off. I get 3-4 days battery with very few things "tur off."
I Know the best solution for a longer battery time. You disabled all the functions, its better to shut down the device.
Love the sarcasm, especially from someone hiding behind an anon account. I'm giving *all* the things you *can* do to improve the battery. It's up to you to pick and choose what you're doing. I've disabled very few things shown here and get 3 days battery.
Christ 4 days!? Mine doesn't last a day! Although I only got it yesterday.
With most things on using it pretty normally I get at least two or three
here is a good tip: turn everything usefull off
That's a terrible tip.
Mullet
Not a mullet
The battery life Sucks it barely last 24 hours without being on energy saver mode
That's not normal lol
My battery only lasted a day out of the box
Mine hit 2-3 with no changes.
Buy a smartwatch and turn it's functions ...off. 😅
You're being pedantic. It makes sense to disable things you're not using to extend battery life. I'm not telling anyone what to disable, I'm telling them what they can disable and how. If you want to keep everything, great. You should still get solid battery life.
@@scaryifliteral No I'm not, I agree with you yes, I disabled many that I don't need all day. It's just ironic they put all these functions in a watch but no battery to master it, so many need to be disabled.
Imagine buying a watch with high price tag and shut off all the features ... just go and buy Huawei or Amazfit
I didn't shut off all the features lol. I'm just showing people how to disable or tweak things they don't use. Battery life is solid out of the box. Stop making up stuff and let people do what they want with the watch they want. You enjoy your watch and others can do the same, no need to make stuff up like this.
I personally don't care for none of the health monitoring stuff that the Watch5 Pro provides, so I personally make sure all that gimmicky crap is turned off and not being utilized.
@@jamesm568 if your not interested in the health part or steps n calories. Not sure why you would buy this watch.
@@TheLtrain2010 Because I like the style of the watch as I only use a smartwatch for notifications and time. The health aspect of the watch is a gimmick and absolutely has no health benefits whatsoever as you can't even take the information to a doctor and use it medically as it is totally useless. Now if you like that gimmicky stuff there's nothing wrong with, but I don't need that crap draining my battery life as I don't need it. I get 5 to 7 days of battery life out of my Watch 5 Pro when this inaccurate health sensors are disabled.
I already did a mistake I bought this stupid samsung watch trust me it's battery is f hell when will i wear the watch if i am always going to charge it. Please go for Garmin venu or ticwatch
Learn to index videos!! ~ Especially videos which claim to offer a LIST of advice, features, tips, etc.! ~ It only takes seconds to do. No legitimate excuse not to!
I generally do add chapters, but as I post 1-3 videos per day sometimes it slips my mind. In the future you might learn to ask for things instead of demanding them when you don't actually know the circumstances. Something that takes "seconds" to do once will take much longer for someone who posts 1-3 videos a day. Thanks.
