Mine can last for about 2,5 days, I have AoD on and rise to wake off as it drains a lot of battery too (I had Xiaomi S1 Active and there the situation was similar). I'm not a fan of buying techs and then disabling it's features just to get more battery life. I prefer to use what I've paid for.
Mmm.... no way going to get 5 days on my watch. I used the default watch face that came on delivery, and did some systematic tests on my Galaxy 5 pro lte. Scenario 1: Minimal settings + AOD 1. Default Watch face 2. Always on display (AOD) 3. Brightness set to less than 50% 4. Arm gesture to activate display 5. Everything else set to OFF This resulted in 30% battery loss in 24 hrs. Estimated 100% loss in 3.3 days. Scenario 2: Scenario 1 settings plus the following: 1. Wifi on 2. Data (LTE function) on 3. Bluetooth on 4. Location on Gives 37% battery loss in 24 hrs. Estimated 100% loss in 2.7 days. Scenario 3: Scenario 2 but with AOD off. Gives 28% battery loss in 24 hrs. Estimated 100% loss in 3.6 days. Between Scenario 2 and 3, the AOD uses 25% battery life. By controlling setting variables like above we can make better real world estimates of battery life. If I set notifications on and made use of any health functionality then battery life would be WAY LESS than the best case Scenario of 3.6 days.
Thing about the AOD and raise to wake. It's been tested and proven that AOD drains less battery (depends on how minimal face is) compared to raise to wake because raise to wake turns on the whole screen to it's fullest while AOD just shows the AOD screen plus the watch has a separate processor for AOD. I've tried and tested it myself too. I get 4-5 days. Raise to wake runs on those extra sensors that would further drain the battery
that dont make any sense, aod is always on using batery life for screen to show something, raise to wake even tho it might use more during when you pull hand to see. i doubt you raise hand to see time every few minutes, probally once or twice per hour if not less, so thats way less usage than aod... aod was tested in most smartphones and its batery killer
@@NostalgicMem0ries watch 5 pro has a special processor for aod. It uses less battery. Raise to wake activates the dedicated sensor every time you raise it and it takes more battery to do so. @Captainsting That's extremely wrong. Watch 5 Pro definitely doesn't have separate processor for Always on Display, how would that make any sense for a mobile device to have 2 processors? That would drain the battery even more, be more costly to manufacture and work less optimal. Statement that raise to wake activates the dedicated sensor only when you raise your hand is also false. In order for the raise to wake to work, the gyroscope is used, possibly along with the accelerometer, a special algorithm calculates what angle should the watch move to, in order to know when you're likely to be actually looking at the watch, and not just swinging your arms. So no, Raise-to-wake uses these sensors all the time. You can't only activate this sensor when the hand is being raised, because how would the watch know if your hand is raised in the first place? If it was known without those sensors, then they wouldn't activate those. This watch uses technology, not magic! Finally, I suspect that the watch uses some combination of accelerometr and gyroscope nearly all of the time, in order to measure your steps, detect activity, detect fall down in order to call SOS, etc.
You might have gotten a watch that set on shelf too long. I got a watch 5 pro and am only getting 1day 13hr max with nearly EVERYTHING turned off. Sigh.. EDIT: As a last ditch effort I factory reset my watch 5 pro and re-paired with phone. I now get up to four days if I turn almost everything off. Idle usage on is just over 1% an hour when connected to Bluetooth.
Jimmy said in the comments that he doesn't use it for sleep tracking but no info about heart rate settings but guessing it is off altogether. I get just under 3 days with with heart rate every 10 mins and most of these settings.
It's so weird with my watch 5 I never got more than 12 hours of battery life, I returned it and kept my watch 4 because it gets about 48 hours on average. However Samsung refused to refund the money for my watch 5 because it was a preorder even though it shows refunded. I even found out last week on my Samsung account that the warranty for my watch 5 is ticking down and I have neither the watch or the money I paid in my possession.
