Hi. I'm from around Silverton Oregon and the last time we had snow was back in March with 3-4 inches of heavy wet snow knocking out electricity for a couple hours but the sun was coming up so it wasn't too bad. The last REALLY bad snow event was in December 2008 where instead of one snow event it was several small ones adding up to about 10 inches of snow though a lot of it fell in the mornings and melted several inches in the afternoon.
If you look in the news most of the talk was up in Portland Oregon where they had between a foot to a foot and a half of snow (depending on elevation which plays a MAJOR role in snow events) Down here around Salem we had a major ice storm just a few days before Christmas that year and funny thing is the ice storm was hardly talked about even though it crippled the valley.

I live up north, but most of my family lives in the south. Very cool place. Barely ever snows...
