I came to this video because I watched the commercial for a magic eraser and just randomly decided to look up a video about it. I have to say, awesome channel! Not only do you do your research and provide pros and cons, but you site almost everything which helps us dig a little deeper on our own. Glad I found your channel. Thank you!!!
Thank you! That means a lot to me!
I'm just starting to utilize these sponges, and they're pretty great! Your video is the most informative, and I thank you for that. Thanks for taking the time to critique this product for its pros & cons. Super video!
Thank you and thank you for watching!
So nice to have an intelligent consumer giving us the low down on Magic Erasers. Your channel is amazing. Thank you!
I can't believe I never saw this one. Great info on the magic eraser!! Using tiny pieces definitely extends the life. I will tear of a little walnut-sized chunk at a time, say to clean pencil marks off the wall after hanging something up. That way, I only have to toss the little chunk and the rest of the sponge stays clean. I will say that I use it for special case messes only. Particularly painted walls and trim. Tho, you're right about it being slightly abrasive. I found it will affect the sheen on flat finish paint if you're too vigorous with the scrubbing.
I live and die by these. They're the best thing ever for smudges on paint walls, dirt on textured surfaces, and for getting through grease in the kitchen. Used with hot water and borax and a little detergent, it can cut through virtually anything.
Thank you for this amazing info!! Youre very informative and straight to the point unlike others.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Thank you for taking the time to post this video and explaining the science behind the magic eraser
Thank you for watching!
I love it so much when you share your vast knowledge and fun facts! Thank you for all you do! ❤️
Crayon off of walls = use a hairdryer and warm up the marks and wipe away with some cleaner...voila...all gone!
I also use the Magic Erasers until they are virtually "gone" - I also cut them up into 3 pieces and buy the larger ones. I only use them on my walls, doors and sometimes hard water stains if they're particularly tough (only on porcelain sinks/tubs though!).
Oh oh...I almost forgot - white toothpaste mixed with a bit of water will clean off scuff marks almost as quickly as Magic Erasers and it is environmentally friendly! I tried this when I was filling in some holes with some white toothpaste. I didn't try this with any other toothpaste like aquafresh or blue colored toothpaste though...it was just plain old white toothpaste. LOL
Thanks for the video, i was looking for a video about what exactly they are and how they work. I couldn't find anything other than demos before your video, thanks for doing your research for us!
Thanks so much for watching!
I actually had some, I ordered from wish.com and they came the other day. I just used one to remove label residue from some bottles, and some command strips leftovers from the wall; worked very nice!
These do work like a dream in the shower, on baseboards, on scuff marks, etc. I can't see myself giving these up. But I am old school, retired RN and viruses and other germs scare me more than using things like bleach. However Kay you have got me trying to use less and try alternatives...
I'll keep using them.I watched this to make sure I was using it properly so I could get my money's worth. Thanks!
These work like a dream for cleaning my bathtub and tiled walls
Thanks for the info. I also love your cute headband!
Thank you so much!
This is a fantastic video, thanks for your time!
Thanks for the great Vid..And, the out takes were great at the end.
This was very helpful! Thank you!
What do you think? Will you keep using Melamine Sponges after you see this video!? And I mispronounced BISULFITE TWICE!!!!!!! UGH!!!! LOL
Darn, sorry to hear that Magic Eraser isn’t biodegradable. I assumed that because it disintegrates as you scrub with it, it would be ok. I will quit buying it, but I will surely miss it!
Actually there is worse forms of formaldehyde in most nail polishes. I'm a little worried about the bio-degradable factor, so I will use it sparingly. But most wall marks or any other marks will come off with a a damp cloth and white toothpaste, it has to be white or it will stain.
Nice to see you use common sense in your comments. I really wouldn’t be to worried about being recyclable. Actually they could be.
My point being that virtually everything can be recycled. Like the young fellow in India who figured out how to use plastic bags, which it seems no one wants to recycle, to make gasoline. Maybe some of these things can be converted to something else useful.
baking soda dry on damp or dry cloth may be a better, healthier choice, definitely cheap.
Baking soda might be the hero that saves us all!
aw dang, i have some of these...can’t just throw them out since they are not biodegradable. i’m gonna use baking soda from know on.
I think I used it twice in my whole life, but am guilty of bleaching my whites. you could do a video of your favorite cleaning products 😊
It's on my list!
Can the magic eraser be used to clean spots on old sofas? Thanks.
Not sure honestly. I'm guessing it won't last long...you could try it on a small, inconspicuous area?
Do you have flat paint on your walls? I have flat "unwashable" paint on our walls, I live in an apartment where I can't paint, and I have not been able to get scuff marks off our walls! It seems my only choice is to re-paint. And you know you can't just spot paint because it'll never be a perfect match. I'm curious if this magic eraser will work.
Hm...I *think* so. It's not shiny. I actually have to go buy a small sample because the developer just painted the apartments and left no paint behind. I would give it a try on a small inconspicuous spot?I bet it would work!
Is it safe for human beings? Do you have to do anything special to store it? Thanks
It is safe for human beings, just don't eat it ;-) I store these in the drawer next to the microfiber cloths, but I won't be repurchasing these
Omg. Had no idea!
i got magic eraser and this what i wanne say WOW WOW WOW it really did the job there was a mark in my bath tub that drove me insane for years and its gone its really magic :D
Love it great video❤
good info, expensive so only use when gifted and really? my artist eraser as well as vinegar/Dawn cleaner works on soft and solid surfaces wo the expense.
hello Hub Neat Home! thanks for the very informative video. i don't use Magic Erasers and after your excellent explanation of what they are and the draw backs, i definitely won't be buying them. however, i'm torn over the microfiber clothes. they work well, but i read somewhere that they also breakdown and are flooding the environment with plastic bits. yuck! am i wrong on this? thank you.
Candace Brooks
I've read similar concerns about microfiber. Maybe Kaye with her science background can give us some info. New video idea?
Candace, you're not wrong. Microfiber stuff is also shedding microplastic also. *sigh*...I have been doing lots of thinking about it over the last 24 hours for sure. WILL DEFINITELY GO DOWN THIS RABBIT HOLE!
Candace Brooks ,
Great Video 🤩🤩
It’s great for grout
Fascinating!
Buy them cheap at the Dollar Tree.
There is a youtube that shows a guy using the sponge on his face
It is very abrasive, that sounds painful!
I don't end up with anything to recycle, as it rubs off dirt and leaves behind a bit of ???? I rinse off hard surfaces and vacuum off walls then damp cloth wipe to remove all. I am more frightened off what my Dyson is pulling from my carpet, i.e., the worn out broken fibers ICCCCK The paint on my walls, rug "stiff", shower/tub enclosure (what is that the steam is semi permanently adhering to the stall and walls and ..... what my microwave is doing to leach container into my food, hmmmm, oh, and the ever present ac/htr vents spewing into my already bad air flow in my apt. okay, just scared myself to death sorta.
Don't scare yourself!!!! LOL
Wow! Great research, thanks so much...lots to consider. I'm a bit overwhelmed...
Wow i wouldnt watch a video by someone like you.. hut this vid was exactally what i was looking for.
By the way you look and sound like briana joy gray.. shes pretty cool.. similar to you
Thanks so much, I'm glad it was helpful! I had to look up briana joy gray, she's cool, so I'm flattered :)
I'll continue to use them. I have two boys. They're a necessity.
No way, not going to purchase magic erasers anymore. I will stick to baking soda and vinegar.
Never have used them. Long time ago use bleach & water. Half & half. Didn't like the smell. Use pine sol. Or rubbering alcohol.
YES! I am a huge fan of rubbing alcohol! It's such a great germ killer and it works awesome on glass! Thanks for watching!
Never used one. I don't even think I've ever noticed them in the stores, either.
Maybe dont throw them n the trash. What about burning them safely till they are ash??
Hm...probably not a safe idea since they are plastic. The dioxins from burning plastics are pretty toxic.
Not biodegradable 😩😩it’s a no-go for me 😩
I won’t use them. Nothing that bad for the environment is a “necessity “.
OK, no more magic erasers for me.
I'll use them for difficult jops. We have kids. 😓
Water is Hydrogen and oxygen, it wont explode because hydrogen is in the name!
OK Chemicals down the drain or some plastic on the wall or into a garbage landfill! ...... UMM I can only say Id rather it not be in my drinking water!
I never used them and never will.
then you should STFU
Oh my dear lord! Does it work or not!!!!
It does and works very well, but it’s not good for the environment if you care about that kind of thing. I’m sorry you didn’t care for the additional information about this product. Have an awesome rest of your day.
Omg I don’t care what it’s made of I want to see if it actually works.
Sounds like this video was not for you. I Invite you to check out the other videos on the channel that might be more to your liking. Thanks for watching 😉
The Organized Soprano your video was ok. I did run across a video demonstrating more. You did give good advice. Just went on too long about it’s material. I was looking for more demos.
Will not be repurchase.
This so-called magic sponge doesn’t do crap!
LOL! 😂
Your nails girl 🤦🏼♀️
Rude! LOL Congratulations on being the first one to comment about my nails! Been waiting for that to happen! This is a video about magic eraser. I’m here to educate you about cleaning. Did you learn something you didn’t know before? Will you buy this product again? Maybe you are having a bad day. Considering I organize people’s homes for a living, I can’t keep perfectly manicured nails NOR is it a priority. My priority is to inspire and change people’s relationships with their things. If you’re looking for a channel with perfectly manicured nails an organizing channel is probably not the place to find it.
It’ s too bad that after this very informative and helpful video this is what you have to say!! How shallow (not to mention RUDE) you seem to be. I hope (like Kay suggested) that you were having a really bad day, and not that you just enjoy being so critical. Holy cow, lady! And Kay, excellent response! I look forward to your videos and admire you so much!
