110% agree that no one should cut living tree's down for fire wood unless it's a real survival situation, enough normally falls from them to the ground in most forested areas!.....
Oh your food looked amazing tonight!

A wood fire is important to a satisfying camp. Wet wood won't do. Green standing won't do. By all means, bring dry wood. When we car camped, I brought wood from home that I had cut in a woodland. This has been one of your finest videos for filming, composition, and content.

i use Vaseline in between two cotton pads (the ones birds use to take makeup off) they are light as a feather and light straight away also burn for around 5 mins give them a try you wont go back lol

Bringing your own wood to burn works in this situation, I would've done the same, hey Dan by all means include whoever you happen to be camping with into your video's it's your channel & I don't think any viewer could have negativity if you do, many others like Andy (Kent Survival) Simon a Bloke in the Woods, Steve Wallis etc etc they all do it & it works mate hell Blot has got little Mick. Go for it mate & mate a night of it.
Oh yeah have a Merry Christmas 👍

Water actually releases heat slower than the rocks or ground around it, if you keep a kettle on the stove while it's burning out the heat transfer will continue longer

    Hi Dan
Bringing dry wood out on a camp is not cheating that equals bringing a butane burner , and if there are no recurses of wood i agree with you. No need to chop down fresh trees you cant make them burn anyway. nice video and merry xmas to you too.
    best regards Kent.

Thank you for my mental health and I'd wish you a better year to look forward to, but wishes are for folks who have targets to aim at. As long as you stay honest, WE AREN'T GOING ANYWHERE.

One issue I've seen with all sorts of RUclipsrs is that they over pack the stove. 1 or 2 fuel sources burn long enough to heat and eat, and burn out quicker so you can fall asleep with the fire going but NOT AS LONG. (Or as dangerous)

And Dan, never mind those who complain and say you're doing it wrong or whatever. You do you Dan, whatever way makes you happy, coz you'll always have somebody whining, no matter what you do. 25:48 about letting the sleeping bags loft up, yeah my mam has always told me with duck feather duvets, to open them out and let them puff up, as you say. Something to do with helping the feathers either spread out so that they lock your body heat in. Id follow your advice, on how you do it, if i were out camping, because you have done it on camera there. Also as you say you need decent sleeping bags etc, you cannot rely on just the fire. I saw a video of a bloke doing a hot tarp camp, with a hammock, it was when we had that snow the beginning of last year. His stove couldn't do bugger all, due to the wind. His tarp had started to freeze up inside, just as well he had a decent sleeping bag to keep him warm, other wise it would have been a different story. Bloke stayed up practically all night trying to keep the stove going.
