More Deets:
Fiji is a sailors paradise and it doesn't look like we'll be getting back to our own boat anytime soon. So, when we were offered a cabin on Millennium, we couldn't pack our bags fast enough!
In this video, you'll meet our new South African friend Mark and get the full tour of his surfing, diving, any adventure you want to go on sailing ship.
It's a completely different world from our catamaran Curiosity and the first steel yacht we've ever explored...much less lived aboard.
Mark is an interesting character who mostly eats, sleeps and breaths surfing these days. And, if you've been with us for a while, you've probably noticed we're not surfers. Well, not yet anyway. I have a feeling after a couple of weeks on this floating surf hostel...that may change.
Stay tuned because our adventures on this big ship have just started.
WHO ARE WE?
We’re Jason and Nikki Wynn. We been living #OffTheGrid and exploring the world for almost a decade.
Our first six years of #travel were an epic road trip around North America.
Now we’re on a #sailing voyage about the world. Did we have any previous sailing experience, of course not!
Neither of us is overly talented, smart, rich, lucky, or retired. But that doesn’t stop us from reaching far-flung destinations, having wild adventures, and managing everything that makes living aboard a moving vessel possible.
We’re two ordinary people that just so happen to live an extraordinary life.
Because... Life is an adventure!
Extraordinary moments out there for anyone willing, and wanting, to go after it. Ya know life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
And this is why we publish our lives on the world wide web. We share in hopes of inspiring you to find your adventure.
Shared with LOVE 💕

What a win - win situation for both of you. He is stuck there on his boat without his family, and you are stuck there together without your boat! That is a beautiful boat!
Such a beautiful boat and Mark is the most inspirational guy, I can't wait to share more.
@@gonewiththewynns Its a Wynn - wynn!
Mark seems like a wonderful person... his boat is an absolute jewel ..
Now that is a BOAT! Very cool, a lot of character, seems very comfortable and well thought-out. Enjoy your stay. Cheers! ☕️
The out stretched welcoming hand giving you another opportunity to change the course of the world. I so need this new adventure of yours. This brings back a day I taught an elderly gent to water ski, the kids that were with me, did not understand the loud yells, broad smile of joy of the elderly gent water skiing. Skiing was taken for granted by the young, an item this guy thought would remain on the bucket list for ever.
Life spent on water searching waves to ride and educating people of the power of the sea, what a joy. Be safe, find joy in all that you do.
💙💛💙
@@gonewiththewynns I'm also south african stuck here in fiji. I would like to come say hi on the boat!
A man living his best life!!! I can imagine the great adventures he’s had when he has his wife, family and crew friends on board. Great personality too!!! Thank you for introducing us. I look forward to hearing more of his story🖤 great video you two... as always !!! 👌
Mark seems like the type of person that never met an enemy. What an adventurous & interesting life he has - still surfing! Spacious & comfortable, that boat is totally ready for the next owner to just walk onboard. Glad we got to meet him! Best wishes Mark!
You guys have just hooked up with a legend family from South Africa. His brother Johnny used to make all my windsurfers as well as many well-known windsurfers around the world. Johnny and his brother Roger are currently building catamarans in Cape St Francis in South Africa. Just launched a new boat. Check them out Nexus Yachts. His family has a long history of been surfers. My mom used to hang out with John Withmore on Clifton beach. Should I say more?
Your father?
Yes, Mark has lived a very full life...and it's incredible how many people know his brothers boards and the cat they designed together. Mark is a humble guy, but we'll do our best to hear (and share) some of his stories.
Funny you mention wind surfing, Kent from Just Catamarans told us the same story about Johnny building his wind surfers back in the day.
@@gonewiththewynns Mark's family were some of the pioneers who discovered Jeffrey's Bay - ruclips.net/video/FZfuYd5PxsM/видео.html. He's brother Jonathan builds the Balance catamarans in Cape St Francis.
The boat Mark rebuilt is amazing great job Mark. I could see a family with crew living on this boat and travelling all over the world. I have to ask did you pirate Marks air conditioner? lol Thanks for the tour Mark and best of luck to you and I hope you see your family soon or are with them now. : ) peace
What an adventure! Mark, is amazing, so talented, brave, and he totally enjoys the Ocean! In another life he was a Giant Whale! How kind to rescue and bring you on board his vessel; to see life from a 66' Sailing Yacht! Love all the features and amenities. Super Cool, You both are so Fortunate! You deserve this, for all your good deeds on Fiji!! Thank you for bringing us along!
I agree 100% Trudy! And I can't believe how great of a surfer he is, I was totally blown away by the moves he was making! I think now is the Wrong time to be selling; that boat is a refuge in the world we live in, especially now! And I sure hope he's not planning on going back to live in South Africa with all that's going on there! I wish Mark the best and Jason & Nikki as well of course!
What an amazing boat, he's living a life that i never thought existed. Lucky guy & he seems like a nice dude. Be well & safe my friends.😁
Great guy, very humble.
He is a South African big wave surfing pioneer, seasoned commercial fishing skipper/owner, co owner of NEXUS catamarans based in J Bay South Africa, cancer survivor, hence his zest for life now, that actually precipitated the purchase and refit of Spirit of Millennium and the trip so far. His family, along with John Whitmore and a few others like (Peers Pittard, Spider Murphy) were surfing and watersports pioneers in SA , general all round watermen, very experienced and successful commercial chokka (squid) fishermen.
Yes....so excited for y’all and great you’re keeping that South African connection....saffas will look after you!
What a legend, one of my heroes when I was a kid in South Africa and you couldn't have picked a better skipper. Good luck, fair winds Markie hope to see you soon.
Hello Friends. Captain Mark is truly an awesome guy (as many of you commented) and we're so happy to be out on the water with him.
Millennium is for sale!

Wow, ya know, you guys know how to find adventure for sure, and bouncing from one situation to the next, is what life is about guys, and you are all doing a beautiful job.!
What a great boat ⛵️ Mark is a legend! When he mentioned the “aqualung” all I could think of was the Jethro Tull song... Aqualung 🎶 hehe I’m showing my age! Glad you you have found a way to have some adventures during these strange times. Hoping you get back to your boat ⛵️ soon!
Mark is one of those people you instantly like. Such a laid-back and personable fellow. He certainly has a beautiful boat. I'm so glad that you are able to spend time on his boat. It must feel good to get back on the water. Thank you for the video.
What a fascinating gentleman.
Thank you for sharing.
Mark Paarman, co owner of NEXUS catamarans based in J Bay South Africa, pioneer big wave surfer, seasoned commercial fishing skipper/owner, cancer survivor, legend all round South African waterman, and a great, humble man who's stoke for surfing, fishing, life in general is an example for all of us. Feel free to read my comment😃👍👍
Would love to see a Q&A with the Captain. As a fellow South African was awesome to watch this, great inspiration!
Mark's story is coming up so stay tuned!
A beautiful expedition class sailing yacht, Millenia. So nice of Mark to invite you to live aboard. I’m certain being back on the water will do wonders for your morale.
wow cinematic shots of this video is just amazing
But not 4 K :-(
Perfect boat for Senior Brady & Blue.
Brian says senor all the time, but he means the Spanish word señor (Mr.), not senior.
Blue uses señor too, and she can speak Spanish (If you had paid attention to how the Delos crew speak, you would know that)
This guy and his boat are awesome, keep this going.
An amazing sailing vessel, with a generous, adventurous and humorous South African captain. I was just going to say that this vessel could come in very handy in the event of any needed quick exit strategy from South Africa, when you mentioned that the boat was for sale. Africa, that beautiful, dangerous continent. The very best to Mark and his family, and hoping the Wynns find their way to Tonga soon.
What a blessing that you get to join Mark right now on his boat. Glad I can enjoy your next adventure with him!!!
Mark said it; older wider, heavier, bigger surfboard...and a bigger boat. Wonderful. Also from PE, scuba'd the entire coast from Knysna to Port Alfred. Blessings.
Your channel is soooooo underrated amazing!!!!!
special ppl those old ex SA fishing boat salts of the sea. Great boat, huge blessing for you two while this virus is keeping the rest of us in 'frustration hell'. Be blessed , ENJOY!
Fantastic video once again...Mark seems to have a fantastic personality. Beautiful craft you have there. Best to all of you. As always Jason and Nikki love you and your hearts for others. Hope you are reunited with Curiosity really really soon!
Since you guys are already on this boat I think you should buy it and have Covid-19 free charter boat. Everyone coming aboard would have to do a 14 day quarantine and have a medical certificate. Then for the low low price of only $25,000 a month they could be assured of living in a Covid-19 free environment until this insanity is over. Oh yea, there is a year minimum up front so you could pay for the boat. Just a thought. Neat boat. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
That man and that boat are amazing. I hope you have some great adventures, and thanks for sharing with us.
Nothing has ever made me want to try surfing again than seeing Marc crushing those waves!
No time like the present! Make the dream happen....
Curious Minion
i wish you could post a vlog everyday guys - always fascinating whatever you're covering, that grand old vessel definitely would need a 😺 or 2, stay safe & well xx
That is an absurdly clean boat for it's size and having one person onboard.
That was so impressive!! So glad your going be having a great time!! Can't wait to see more of your adventures!! Thank you for taking us along!
This ketch has it all. It’s got to be pricey to buy, or own. But what an adventure, PRICELESS! Thx Wynns
Well, there's always Patreon to pay for your lifestyle.
I REALLY like the use of original wood doors, windows, and trim on that boat combined with the white paint. It makes it warm feeling without being dark.
I first saw that boat in 2008 when a good friend was refitting his steel 36' in Port Elizabeth. (I am from Port Elizabeth, surfer, sailor, lifesaver....and have known the Paarmans' for several decades through surfing in Jeffrey's bay and the chokka fishing industry) we have a lot of mutual friends. You might have heard of NEXUS catamarans, based in J-Bay/St Francis bay, Mark and his brother Jonathan own NEXUS, great guy, his house backs onto one of my best friend's house in PE, South African legend waterman. Tell Mark that Peers Pittard says howzit. (old time fellow chokka boat skipper/owner and pioneer surfer, also the co-owner of a very nice custom built 36' steel Van De Stadt cutter based in Mauritius, he will be stoked) Spirit of Millennium is an awesome boat, I fell in love with her a long time ago when she still had wooden spars and huge refrigeration rooms and was moored at the end of the quay neglected as part of a deceased estate. She was sold way under value but Mark has spent a lot of money on her with a wealth of experience in the commercial fishing industry being evident, and he's gone through a lot of PT, using very experienced people to get her right, she is a small ship, as I said very heavily built for the worst the ocean can throw at you. Stoked to see Mark doing so well (he had cancer).
Enjoy, like I said before He's a legend in SA.
Whoever buys Spirit of Millennium is going to get one hell of a strong, displacement hull expedition vessel that's only drawback is draft. Many discussions were had on many occasions, by a plethora of knowledgeable and experienced people in and around Port Elizabeth for many years about buying that yacht, Marky scored an absolute bomb. PPS Please wish Mark all the very best, fair winds and following seas from Mr Gutsche, captain Mike Van Wyk and the crew of SV Warrior.
PPPS the head cabinet maker at Nexus/Balance is a long time school friend who I've known for 40 years
Good that you guys and Mark were able to find each other though this period of isolation. What a huge boat !!! NICE !!!
Thanks guys, for another great episode. Mark, great job and inspiring story on your boat build, look forward to next episode to hear more...
Although not ideal you can’t get back to your boat yet, what a great adventure in the meantime 😊👌🏼 What a beautiful part of the World to spend the pandemic in 🗺🏝
And with an absolute legend in South African watersports, Mark Paarman, on a boat that is absolutely bullet proof. PS He and his brother Jonathan own NEXUS catamarans, a boutique performance catamaran manufacturer in J Bay/St Francis bay.
So true! It's frustrating and amazing at the same time.
Im absolutely in love with that yacht! The perfect layout!
Oh my this boat was so beautiful. What a wonderful tour.
It's good to see you two again.
What a fabulous turn of events! Captain Mark is a great friend to have! I imagine he is happy t have your company, and you are once again on the water. Cannot wait to see more!
Amazing boat, and great to see that your all still having a good time!
This was so interesting! Mark has thought of everything! Such a nice person, so calm and laid back! And a very good surfer!
Beautiful boat! Loved this episode, it was so much fun watching you guys showcase the boat. Mark is a funny dude too!
A big thank you to Captain-Owner Mark for welcoming Nikki and Jason aboard your yacht so they can get their sea legs back! I'm sure Nikki can be persuaded to climb up to the crow's nest to get a panoramic shot of Fijian scenery..., it may take a glass or two of home brewed beer to get Jason up there.
Fantastic boat, Mark; so rich in charm and perfection. 👍 I'm eager to hear the backstory. I'm sure it's a dandy. Nikki, I can't wait to see you surf. 🏄♀️ Thanks for the boat tour. I'm green with envy.💚
Captain Mark is my hero. What a legend. As a 53 year old (now larger) dude, my surfboards keep getting longer and thicker. I envy Captain Mark's life.
WOW! That is one amazing boat! I am excited to see you surf ;-) I bet it feels so good to get a change of venue.
Now THIS is some cool news!! Millennium is one wicked awesome boat!! Kudos to Mark for allowing you to keep him company.
Greetings and Happy Sunday to all ! 🌞🤙😃 It must feel great to step back on a sailboat ! Thank you Mark for letting the best deserving couple on your boat ! What a awesome fully functional boat ! Thanks for the tour ! Have a great day ! Cheers ! 🍺🍺🍻 🌊🏄♂️😃🤙🐠
Wow...that is one beautiful ship! Mark should be ever proud of what a fantastic refurb he’s done. You can see the craftsmanship & love put into to it. Can’t wait to see all the adventures unfold on this beauty
Wow! Fantastic boat! So happy you guys are on the water for a bit. :)
1:01.......beautiful helm.......
One of the cleanest boats I've ever seen on youtube!
Very beautiful boat!
Incredible ship Captain! Thank you all for sharing! Loved it
What an amazing boat! Mark seems like a really interesting guy, he needs his own RUclips channel!!
He is a South African watersports legend, big wave surfing pioneer
Cancer survivor. Co owner of NEXUS catamarans and a very experienced and successful commercial fishing skipper/owner. I know the boat well too having first seen her in 2007/8. I've known the Paarman brothers for many moons and have many mutual friends. Great guy. If you're interested why not check out Nexus website or reviews, very much upper tier bespoke performance catamarans.
A beautiful boat and a wonderful tour, thanks guys-I'm glad to see you're getting out and about.
Wow, love a beautiful custom one off vessel like this. They really did everything right.
Wonderful yacht, I'm totally envious, but realizing how much thought went into this... I understand how pleased you must be to have built your dream. Fair winds and calm sea's!
Great tour and boat. Tons of space. Can't wait to hear more of his story! Wow there are tons of boards! Wow. Chris & Jolene
So cool!! What a great experience for you guys! Can’t wait till next week! As always stay safe n healthy!
What a awesome boat. The best one I’ve seen so far hands down the winner! I know he is proud of his boat. I would trust that boat before any of the new ones of any kind of hulls. Just love it! Good job. Blessings.
That man has worked hard and is one smart human being. That boat is immaculate and very very impressive. Bravo, good sir. Ty, Wynn’s for meeting this man and for sharing his wonderful slice of life.
What a stunning boat, 6000 liters of diesel would be enough to give me a Heart attack at the pump! Time to get them lottery tickets on tonight
ya its would be a big hit but you have to think that would last a while like the propane. now kleaning is what would be giving me a panic attack until i saw waves as long as they were below 10 feet
I just noticed your post and I had to both laugh and point out a few common misconceptions about diesel fuel.
The good news for a boat is no road taxes. The following is mostly and FYI if U care to share this info:
Second, the industry is for sure gouging the consumer on cost. My Dad owned a very large trucking company (70) rigs when I grew up. The cost of diesel was very low back then. Only between 1/3 to 1/3 of gasoline! Which both were inexpensive then anyhow. But, there is very little refining required to make diesel as compared to gas and it is a biproduct of producing propane. So, there is an severe extreme amount of profit in that industry now! A wise person could join a coop that makes bio-diesel and save over 200% of the eventual costs associated therewith.
typo at the suppose to say between 1/3 to 1/2 of gas....
Awesome video! I am always impressed by how much room and storage are on sail boats, including your own catamaran.
Great episode! Excited to what next week brings. You all three be safe.
I am excited to see more already !
That was great. Thank you so much for presenting such an amazing vessel and her owner.
One of my favourites. What a cool old man!
No sailing vessel is complete without a Crows nest. That boat has every doo-dad that one would need.
I absolutely love this video! So envious of the boat Mark built! Truly living the dream!
So glad you two met up with Mark! Worse places to be stranded:) Can't wait for the next video!
Thanks for posting and sharing. Remarkable vessel.
Thank you for, sharing. What a nice, large boat you are on. Dave seems like a terrific person letting you stay with him. Hope you make it to your boat sometime soon. Enjoy and stay safe.
Dave?
Thanks Guys. What a wonderful boat! A lot of old fashioned boat details. Gives it so much personality. So sad it's for sale but someone will buy it and love it to death! Hope you can get to your boat soon but this is a joy to watch. Thanks again. Stay safe.
Oh man, we spent our honeymoon on Namotu. What a great place to be "stuck"!!! Enjoy the waves!
Great to see you out sailing again! Beautiful boat!!
this is the first time I've seen this new
segmented time line showing 'topics/time'
bet it catches on fast
Cool boat - thanks for this
gary gerard It's new RUclips feature.
third! Been hitting refresh all morning waiting for the latest!
...I love these videos. I wait all week for them.
Good to see the Wynns on the water again. Cheers to Mark, proper legend he is. Already looking forward to next week.
What an absolute dream ship!!! Fantastic! Thanks for sharing!!!
If price were not an issue (notice the price is coming later), I'd move in a second. I feel a mid-life crisis / post-corona lifestyle on the horizon.
Paul Done I can't even sail and I was thinking the same, as a keen scuba diver this would be my Nirvana for sure
The million dollar question is..
Will cruisers be welcomed anywhere the way they were before COVID 19? There are no cases of the virus on either island and they are still locked down.
I was disappointed when I found out it was for sale. I was hoping to be adopted (I am only 58).
Wakeywhodat With any luck the large cruise ships will be scrapped as unsustainable but small boats will always be welcome. Think of it as the difference between a large unmanageable and un-quarantinable petrie dish and one that’s small, easily tested, traced and disinfected. There’ll probably be limits on the numbers of cruisers in any given area but that’s a good thing, no?
last year in Turkey they sold one gauntlet sailboat 30m (100 ft) for 1.5 mil € he was look like 5 star hotel...
Wonderful! So happy for you all!!
Awesome video what a sailboat! Mark thought of everything. Thank you for some fresh video you guys are entertaining the world while we confine ourselves from the Coronavirus. Thank you stay safe hope you can get back to Curiosity soon. Fred in Houston
That surfing run at the beginning is so interminable and the boat has got to be one of the most beautiful I've ever seen.
Mark has figured out a way to follow Seneca's most famous quote for those that love the ocean...
" Beyond All Things Is The Sea"
I love this ship! Well done sir, and a well done video as always. What a great channel. Cheers guys!
Ahh I can't believe it, I met those guys in Grenada a couple of years ago while I was house sitting there. Such a stunning boat and the most wonderful people with a beautiful story!
I remember when you had a motor home… fast forward and it’s still as fun. Never gets old. Thanks for the tour
What a Dream!!
This adds so much to your adventure, unbelievable. Now I am really jealous. What a great good natured host.. I want to see it going, even 10 knots. That, would be FAIR WINDS indeed. Thx for this post. Top 5 from the Wynns, so unexpected
What a great opportunity you stumbled across can’t wait to see this next chapter as always thanks for sharing stay safe and good sailing
So happy for you guys that you will be able to be aboard a boat for awhile. Looks like it will be a fun time.
That's a boat! Cool guy. That'll be a fun place to wait things out. Take care.
Lovely to see you guys smiling again;)
Beautiful, spacious boat. Enjoy!
What a great episode. You guys keep smashing it week after week with fabulous content despite being stuck in Fiji. And what a great character Mark is, definitely one of life's characters, and boy can he surf. Hope you get back to your floating home soon.
