    More Deets:
Join us in #Fiji at the famous cloudbreak, one of the seven #surf wonders of the world. Our sailboat captain Mark is living out his dreams of surfing this legendary wave. Now, we're not surfers but we have always wanted to get in those big barrels and capture the surfers...but it's intimidating to say the least. But, thanks to our friend Stu we learned how to be a pro surf photographer in just one day!
    WHO ARE WE?
We’re Jason and Nikki Wynn. We been living #OffTheGrid and exploring the world for almost a decade.
Our first six years of #travel were an epic road trip around North America.
Now we’re on a #sailing voyage about the world. Did we have any previous sailing experience, of course not!
Neither of us is overly talented, smart, rich, lucky, or retired. But that doesn’t stop us from reaching far-flung destinations, having wild adventures, and managing everything that makes living aboard a moving vessel possible.
We’re two ordinary people that just so happen to live an extraordinary life.
    Because... Life is an adventure!
Extraordinary moments out there for anyone willing, and wanting, to go after it. Ya know life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
And this is why we publish our lives on the world wide web. We share in hopes of inspiring you to find your adventure.
    Shared with LOVE 💕

Fun, Scary, Exhilarating, Beautiful, Powerful, Humbling…WHOLLY CRAP!
Have you ever done anything that simultaneously scared the pants off of you and made you want to keep going? What a Feeling of being ALIVE!
If you want to see how we got stuck in Fiji without our Sailboat, here’s that vid: ruclips.net/video/HnbcnQ9k_bM/видео.html
And here’s the boat tour of Millennium: ruclips.net/video/3UGrAKa5i5A/видео.html
Huge thanks to Mark on Millennium for hosting us and Stuart for taking the time to teach me how to swim under the waves. It is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING, what a cool experience. In our next vid the surf crew is determined to get us surfing…so that’ll be fun. See ya next week.

Dolphins are attracted to the color red and if you guys get a red silk scarf they will play with it because the silk appears to dance under the water and they love it.

humbling... I grew up diving, swimming sailing, everything water, but in Michigan. I thought I was unsinkable, until I moved to Los Angeles and got out in the surf. humbling for sure.

I was streaming this through my television but had to come to the computer for a comment. This is simply the best work on RUclips in the whole Sailing genre. Its filmic - funny - and pure. I don't say this to belittle other channels who put in the work to provide content. There are so many quality channels - its just this is the baseline...the bar.
    Cheers

I agree. They both have so much talent in capturing moments that make you feel something wonderful. It's not only visually stunning, but it's also raw storytelling at it's best.
The soundtracks they use takes the content over the top.

That's the best "what it looks like to get rolled by a wave" footage I've ever seen. I'm from California (LA), but didn't experience what you just filmed until I was in 10' shore break at Waimea and time the dive wrong just like that. And for those reading this that don't know. You don't know what panic is until you're underwater spinning and don't know which way the surface is because all you can see is bubbles in every direction.

I do not expect these to be educational or instructional videos, but I love the lessons I learn. As Jason said, it is not the equipment (or for that matter the location or situation), "dive" into life, participate, chase rainbows, and your dreams. Beautiful locales, wonderful "locals" are everywhere. Live life where you are; love what you do.

I was at work (construction) working on a road going into a KOA campground when a couple walked up and talked to me. They said they’d recently sold everything and live full time in an RV. I told them I plan on sailing away when I can and how a RUclips channel inspired my decision. I told them about Gone With the Wynns. Turns out they knew the channel and you were their inspiration for RVing as you were mine for sailing.

It's so funny watching you guys do something new that I thought you'd have already done because you live on the water. I surfed Cloudbreak 20 years ago at 15 feet and it is one hell of a powerful wave. This reminds me of the time I taught a German friend to surf and I didn't realise that she had zero experience in waves. When the first wave hit her it sent her head over heels. I laughed when I saw her feet in the air and then quickly realised that I didn't tell her to jump off the bottom when the whitewash comes. It was all those years of surfing and ocean swimming that you take for granted living in New Zealand. I'd love to go back to Cloudbreak in our catamaran with our kids once this pandemic calms down. Keep up the good work.

"I got a proper beating on that one." -- When I saw the wash envelop the camera just before you tumbled, I just knew it was going to be a moment. I've been arse-over-tea-kettled a number of times in the surf, with more than a few injuries along the way. Glad you got out in one piece. Dancing with the waves is joyful and stimulating, but it can easily go wrong when we get tired or cocky. And then there are just those waves of which we just can't predict the course and outcome. Surf photographers the likes of Jon Mozo, Joe McGovern and Jeff Mana Walthall have all departed while in the surf. Take care, guys. Nice EP.

Just gonna add some more gushing comments to all those that have gone before me... GREAT job getting out of your comfort zone to learn a new "viewing angle". The results speak for themselves, and I have to say - you two look like this might now be well within your comfort zone. Good-on that professional photographer - I was really impressed with his instructional plan (which Jason adopted in training Mrs. Wynn) of getting you comfortable with the movement of the waves (first), how to avoid being overcome (go early-go deep), and most-importantly, how to anticipate/estimate the wave and the surfers' path. Simply awesome job capturing the human element within a great story setting. All the best to you guys.

Whittier, CA? Stuart and Malia! Wow. I was born and raised in Whittier. Of course, I am thinking that I am a bit older than they are. WOW! Great job, as always, Jason and Nikki. So happy that you are making lemonade from the lemons.

Stuart is a great instructor and Jason had the guts to follow his instructions. I've heard of surfers getting all banged up when a large wave passed over so I never tried doing that....dang, it looked awesome and safe! Whenever there is a gathering of people, if Nikki is there, she will be cooking or helping out in some way.....she's like a lovely mother figure! Wonderful photography in this neat episode!!

That video makes me want to get back into the surf. even if it is in the freezing waters of Bass Strait where smart people are wearing Wetsuits in the middle of a baking Aussie summer. I haven't been in the surf for over 15 years. But this time with a GoPro and goggles sounds like a challenge instead of a boogie board wrangling a group of kids. Great work Jason and Nikki. You are masters of your craft.

Excellent photography showing all those wave physics on Cloudbreak! This rates a tip in the jar whatever camera gets used. Thanks to the entire Surf Crew and especially Mark for hosting you all.
Stu's superb demonstration and those cross sectional views of the rolling waves shows where the wave energy is: Forward and descending with forward inertia -- the 'curl'. Then the bottom rolls back up -- a fluid wheel going forward that pushes one back to the surface on the wave's rear side (wave energy working for you). The wave rises higher as the depth gets shallow. One of the first surf lessons Cape Cod teens learn at places like Nauset Beach (vicinity 42degN x 70degW) is ducking under heavy inbound waves. They're much soupier with plankton in the "roaring 40s", making this Cloudbreak footage quite welcome! The next lesson is being aware of where the great white sharks are: www.atlanticwhiteshark.org/
The "undertow" song fits: Waves like that near an inviting beach generate potent rip currents (ruclips.net/video/PuAlDTC_gIQ/видео.html). Something else to be wary about, adventurers. Stay safe out there!
    Cheers, everyone!

One of your best yet. Really captured the energy. Very jealous. Time I returned to Fiji. I stayed a while, back in 1994, so I imagine it's a lot different. I was doing more scuba, than surfing.
    Thanks

I spent a week at Cloudbreak with two production teams shooting slater & others providing support when the first Phantom Flex4K came out. The DP carried that thing around in the water for 40min segments and continued all day. The stamina was just insane. Also did some cool stuff mounting Red Epic’s to surfboards for some incredible shots. Amazing place...glad you’re enjoying it as much as you can.

OMG! That is my favorite video of all your videos so far! You just upped your own anti! One of my favorite channels anyways, but this one was great! To think if you hadn't gotten stranded what you would have missed out on! I mean, you got to get immersed in surfing culture in a way not many will ever fall into. Sometimes when things happen they happen for such a special reason. Not that the whole pandemic happened so you could get stranded and end up on Millennial with a bunch of surfers, but you get what I mean.
