I think Gandhi summed it up nicely when he said, “Everyone wants to be strong and self-sufficient, but few are willing to put in the work necessary to achieve worthy goals".
And occasionally, we meet some truly inspiring characters who have indeed achieved worthy goals.
The Sheen family on the remote island of Nomuka are now some of our faves. They are incredible sailors, explorers, nature lovers, and thankfully not camera shy.
    More Sheen’s
You can learn more about Dave, Tris & Dior on their website www.whalediscoveries.com/our-... and get social with them on insta: / whale_discoveries
AND, Dior is a future award-winning chef!!! She has an Instagram page dedicated to her delectable, island-grown yummy bytes you will want to check out. That way you can say you discovered her in her early days before she became famous.
    / yummmybytes
    Inspiration & Help Needed
As if the Sheen family wasn't nice enough already, they have helped create the NICE Society (Nomuka Island Conservation Environment Society)
A community-run society created for the people and environment of Nomuka. They are undertaking huge projects to help tackle local issues like rubbish, animal welfare, and protecting the marine environment. You can learn more about the society and inquire about donating or volunteering on their Facebook page: /
    The Comedic Extra's
They may ask for a retraction but I am gonna share Tom and Cyril's Instagram too. Because if you find yourself in Tonga anytime soon, you should bring them a bottle of rum in exchange for a few stories.

    WHO ARE WE?
We’re Jason and Nikki Wynn. We been living #OffTheGrid and exploring the world for 10 years.
Our first six years of #travel were an epic road trip around North America.
Now we’re on a #sailing voyage about the world. Did we have any previous sailing experience, of course not!
Neither of us is overly talented, smart, rich, lucky, or retired. But that doesn’t stop us from reaching far-flung destinations, having wild #adventures and managing everything that makes living aboard a moving vessel possible.
We’re two ordinary people that just so happen to live an extraordinary life.
And this is why we publish our lives on the world wide web. We share in hopes of inspiring you to find your adventure.

Tris and Dave are the most amazing couple you will ever meet. And beautiful Dior… a real life Moana, scaling trees in bare feet with a machete in her mouth! This albeit wonderful video doesn’t scratch the surface of what Dave has built there. Truly remarkable family not just talking about “eco” and conservation but demonstrating that you can go all-out like they have and still live with happiness, variety, vitality and style. Go there if you have the chance. Aside from The Barn, being guided by them swimming with Tonga’s whales is their thing… Tris and Dior are actually sea mammals; to witness them in the water with the wildlife around them is breathtaking :) And by the way, if all that weren’t enough, Dave is an ex champion windsurfer and exceptional waterman!

I wish we all could be as happy as those horses. Mandala and this place look like two great places to be for a visit or an extended quarantine. Thanks for giving places like this exposure.

This is why I love Tonga so much. I actually met Dior at whale guide school and she told me about her family’s amazing sustainable homestead. My good friend in Hawaii sent me this link without knowing Dior was a friend of mine
