Additionally, Vietnam had very good weapons (captured from Americans). And to be honest, Vietnam wasn’t that destroyed and poor. Meanwhile Kampuchea was horribly destroyed by 9 years of very brutal Lon Nol’s regime, civil war and finally Khmer Rouge which did nothing but make its country awfully weak. As I said, it would maybe be possible for Kampuchea to prepare for war, but Pol Pot actually was too stupid and started provoking Vietnam right when he gained power. But at the same time, I don’t see how he would prepare for a victorious war against Vietnam. He was stupid enough to only weaken his state and make it super vulnerable for any attack. Yeah, OTL has been pretty good to Vietnam. It's probably the least repressive communist country in the world and has enjoyed strong development over the past 20 years. I think in order for the South to win they need to have an efficient government, like Singapore and Taiwan. In that case, there wouldn't be any insurgencies if the South won. Corruption would still happen of course
@@Dani_Dang Then, it would be house divided. If the US decided to stay in Vietnam for 20 years like Afghanistan. Sure the ARVN would be able to defend themselves against the North and inflict tons of damage to the North. And the North would just accept partition at 17th Parallel and call for ceasefire like Korea. Also, I notice that Southern government has no incentives to attack Hanoi, I think they were afraid of Chinese intervention.
@@danghoangluong2942 no Paris Agreement -> no army retirement of the USA -> no losing of defense in South Vietnam -> no stopping of terrorism from VC -> no stopping of bombardment in North Vietnam.
@@Dani_Dang But Vietnamization is still gonna happens. The US want South Vietnamese to be able to defend themselves against Communist. After Tet Offensive, VC activities have reduced significantly. Most of combats after 1968 were conventional warfare, like tanks vs tanks, rather than guerilla warfare. I also noticed that South Vietnamese troops combat capabilities had improved significantly in 1974 compare to 1963. In 1963, they couldn't handle 350 guerillas in Battle of Ap Bac. In 1974, they managed to kill 1200 NVA soldiers in Svay Rieng, while losing 100 of their own in an offensive. Should the US continue to support the ARVN, ARVN could be one of the most battle-hardened military in Asia. I heard from some sources ( I kinda forgot) revealed that if Operation Linebacker III happened, Communist officials would seek to pull out their troops from South Vietnam and accept partition. Sure, the Communist were able to shot down many American planes, but the American bombardment of North Vietnam inflicted a lot of damage for Hanoi. But still, I find South Vietnam and US had no incentives to reunify with the North, since they know China would interfere.
1:01 This ending is somewhat ironic considering Vietnam was the most anti-ASEAN country in the early 90s. They saw ASEAN as a Western plot like SEATO and were against its very existence until later.
I mean yeah ASEAN was made to stop communism from spreading and also the united Indochina thing so they were very against Vietnam Laos and the PRK, but after the cold war ended ASEAN focused more on economy and coexistence of the Southeast Asian countries so Vietnam joined them since both sides weren't against each other anymore

China Puppet Ending: After Sino-Soviet split, a pro-maoism coup took place in Vietnam, making it a Chinese satellite, which along with North Korea in 1990s formed Shanghai Pact
Blessed ending: the US decided to wholly support Vietnam's independence from France after WW2, preventing the Viet Minh from completely aligning with the communist bloc like in our timeline. Thus, a democratically-elected constitutional monarchy with Bao Dai as emperor and Ho Chi Minh as chancellor was born, and wars were averted.
Best Ending would be Tay Son Ending with Quang Trung's successor decided to modernize, industrialize and open up to the world like Japan's Meiji Restoration. If that is the scenario, Vietnam would be an unstoppable force in East Asia, rival that of Japanese Empire and China

Most notably, Vietnam sends troops to Zarahemla in 2010, defeating Guatemala and installing Jílaman Brigam Noj Iquic as President. This good ending creates a Vietnam of the same shape, but with an autonomous zone in the Mekong Delta, heavily populated with Muslims, Latter-day Saints, and other religious groups the communist government didn't like. The "Chummy Commie" ending: the US realizes that Hồ Chí Minh is much more of a freedom fighter & moderate socialist, and natural enemy of Mao's PRC, decides during July 1951 Indochina Stalemate The US help negotiate France's withdraw from Indochina and start courting the Hồ Chí Minh government, leading Vietnam to become a US ally and bulwark against the expansion of Maoism.
How about it's still a constitutional monarchy with Bảo Đại or/and Cường Để as the Kingdom of Đại Nam's leaders?
Actually this already happened but with the USSR instead
We stopped the aggression after China retreated though, and rightfully so
The Asian Tito ending
I really wish to see Asean ending becoming reality, although it's almost impossible. Just look at SEA video game servers.
The diversity in the region alone WILL definitely a challenge tho
Ethno-cultural tension is extremely dangerous, nobody wants to go on such an adventure.
@@hydrargyruschaldaecus2572 said the Austro-Hungarian monarchs
The economy and power will significantly increased, but same as the first reply here, coexisting would be a task and risky.
@@deinemudda1049 Come on bro, they had been inbred for hundreds of years, you can't blame them for making stupid decisions.
No fucking way you made a seperate ending for both the Việt Nam Quang Phục Hội AND the Trịnh lords. 10/10 best ending video I have seen
Secret ending: Britain succeeds in routing the Vietnamese communists in 1945 and instead of handing control of french Indochina back to the French, they administer it. As a result, future French lives are spared, future american lives are spared and no incessant use of fortunate son. cambodian lives are also spared because no more khmer rouge coming to power as a result of us involvement in vietnam. And the finnish anticommunist lori allan torni would still live until old age, instead of disappearing into the mountains of Laos.

In the late 18th century Tay Son scared the Chinese Qing dynasty to the point that they had to offer two Chinese provinces to Tay Son just to make peace lmao
I don't think Qianlongdi was scared by Quang Trung. That could be a sinister scheme.
@@Dani_Dang The Qing dynasty at that point was bullied by western powers and was so weak and pathetic that the fact that they were scared of Quang Trung is nothing surprising
These two provinces were a curse in disguise.
@Minh Đức Nguyễn exactly
@Minh Đức Nguyễn you have a point
Ba Dan Su ending: With nationalist victory in China, the VNQDD takes power with support from the ROC, uniting Vietnam under a Tridemist republic.

Republic of Vietnam Ending:
With the US forces going all in into Vietnam instead of it being a gradual escalation and there's no real risk of China or the USSR intervening directly because they never planned to, North Vietnam doesn't have time to learn all of the US's tactics, and rapidly loses the Vietnam War, thanks also to curb-stomping measures on corruption, most of the US aid being sent to South Vietnam is successful. The Vietnam War ends with South Vietnam annexing the North and forming the Republic of Vietnam, a firm US ally and South East Asia's counterpart to South Korea.
1:20 struggling because of corruption = yep same same
??? ending: with trees appearing everywhere, now they speak vietnamese and causes terror to all over the world, including america.
Watchmen Ending: The Nixon administration crushes the Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese Army and annexes Vietnam as the 51st state of the US.

Very Alternate Ultimate Good & Blessed ending: Tây Sơn Dynasty conquered Asia before the death of emperor Quang Trung. The Nguyễns never had a chance to reclaim Vietnam :)
(bonus: at the bad ending, the country should be called the Democratic Republic of Vietnam bc SRVN had been founded in the year when North and South were united, which was 1976)
I am proud of our country Vietnam for being strongly independent in the face of terrible pressure and even dirty tricks from both the US and China. Tell me how your country will fare under pressure from both the US and China

Baguette ending: France never leaves Indochina, and Vietnam is still a colony.
