I am really grateful for your honesty about your heart not being in covering the later DTP records. I think pretty much every core Devin Townsend fan is into your work because it's honest and from the heart, even if we don't really get it for the first few listens. That said, Epicloud, Z2 and especially Transcendence are some of favorite albums ever. If you think about it, if you really think about it, Epicloud is like a cheeseburger. Simple, well layered and constructed and enjoyable by everyone. Anyway, thanks for all you do. It's guided me through a lot and I will always be grateful
Devin, you are just incredible. You will never stop to amaze me. Your dedication, your passion for your craft. We're almost the same age, and I have been following you since I'm 20 years old. Have a great time in Australia and in Japan. I'm looking forward to see what's in your bag in the next few weeks. BTW, Dreampeace is really working... So thank you a thousand times from Ottawa, On.
We were in Melbourne seeing your remarkable performance last night. Just wanted to drop by to say thank you so much for your talent, generosity & it was just wonderful to be experiencing your music first hand ❤
I'm travelling 700kms plus from Hobart Tasmania to Melbourne to see you on Friday 10th Nov. Looking forward to it. I hope the jet lag isn't too nasty, I mean, 24hrs 😳😪. 👌💖
Saw you in Perth on Wednesday. I hadn’t seen you since you played here as SYL around 2003 (which is one of my favourite shows I’ve ever been to). Wednesday your show was absolutely wild and it exceeded expectations and my expectations were high!
Love you brother! And man, I love you for talking about what’s going on. You are a creative source, and it helps to see someone just be real and talk. Much Mahalo
Thanks for your podcasts. You are a real inspiration and bring me back to believe that music can impact the people as yours in me. I can't express with words what your albums has become to me in the last hard times. Thanks. God bless.
Thanks for the update, Devin. Working on my 3rd album at the moment and just wanna say thanks for being a constant source of inspiration and imagination. Don't go changin'! 🙂⭐💖🌈🍔
Hey just wanted to say thanks. I’m in Cleveland. Saw you after Animals. I’ve been going through all your work. Wow just wow!! Podcast can be great. Keep it super simple and you will enjoy it way more than tryin to make it some big thing
All of your content has been such a blessing. Producing my first original music at 59, and you are my inspirational spark. It would be incredible to see a rough footage documentary of your next recording process like the vlog for Transendance. Everything is so appreciated and so well received Have a safe and wonderful trip Cheers!!
@Devin Townsend - Really appreciate your character and realism that you share with us in these videos. I enjoy them very much, you're a righteous dude. Safe travels and hope all goes well. Blessings, Fender1960CS
Dev, I know doing continuous uploads like this is hard, but I know it’s working. Thank you for sharing more of your life with us. Through the storm may you become a rainbow! 🌈
Devin i watch you not only because im a fan of your music.. But also the updates you provide i find a joy too listen too. Also those dreampieces you created are Great also..
Hey Devy, I hope you have/had fun in Australia! I saw the picture of you with the little furry creature, how cute! It's such a shame that I've only been able to see you once... During dream Sonic in Dallas, but it was an amazing show! Think you'll be coming back to cameo after your tour is over?
Weird to see this pop up, I was just listening to Lightworker yesterday. Thanks for the update fellow BC'r, keep on trucking man and come over and pluck some strings on the Sunshine Coast (The BC One) one of these days. Safe travels.
Every project you do is a journey, unpredictable, an adventure. I can feel the emotion that you can feel in each update that you upload, I enjoy each video in which you comment on how you experience the trip and I wait expectantly for the result of this new musical exploration journey. Thanks for the puzzle film and dreampeace, I listen to it every night before going to sleep. I will keep on checking your channel.
Quick Cam Tip: whatever frame-rate you shoot at (24fps, 30, or 60) make sure your shutter speed is double your frame-rate. Gives natural motion blur so you don't look choppy! (24fps - 1/50, 30fps - 1/60, 60fps - 1/120). Or you just do you 🤘😉🤘
If you have time, check out the town of Fremantle just outside of Perth. The Main Street has New Orleans vibes with a lot of street musicians and great food.
You are always compelling, Devin. What I would love to see and learn from, is how exactly do you do your writing? You say you do it quickly but I'd love to be a fly on the wall to your process. Guitars, keyboards, bass, vocals, etc.
Devin! Just binged on your last few updates + this over the last hour, and I'll spare you the circumstantial details, but it was great to replace my own thoughts with yours for a bit ... Puzzle has been one of my favorite albums this last year, the wackiness makes it interesting and relatable. Whatever's next, I'll be thankful for, I hope the process is enjoyable for you. Cheers & have an amazing day 😀
Sounds like you've got a head full of stuff at the moment man.. looking forward to experiencing whatever it becomes. Safe travels and enjoy the gigs! *^^*
Devin I hope the concerts go well! One thing I was thinking is that you could name the updates by the date you publish them on, so once there are are lots of them they are easier to find retrospectively in the channel. Good luck in Japan and Australia.
I needed to hear something discussed in this update. Converting the feelings to sound might seem like the obvious objective of a project….but it isn’t obvious. If you ‘know’ you have guitars, bass, drums, and their respective tonal signatures, it’s easy to box yourself into the typical parameters of those instruments. But when you deliberately reset your goals to saying “THIS feeling must be expressed clearly”, it makes you rethink your configuration bigtime. And if that slows you down…well, that’s why that process takes so long. My kids play in high school marching band, and compete against the best schools in the US. When you see the top ten bands lay it out in a stadium, doing what originally amounted to the same process, it is astounding. It’s a good time to be a musician.
Dev! Consider doing an album with Jimmy Chamberlin. Think about it. The two of you could find the perfect sound together. Much love from Australia. I can't see you while your here but still. Love you brother.
So right, both you and Hans. Setting an 'ambiance' for an album is so important. and a n art a bit lost these days. I even do the same with songs. I need a title, that setts the mood and landscape .

Hey Dev! Thanks for the update! Looking forward to the future podcasts.
Wish I could see the Australia show, but I had to choose between that and the puzzle, haha. I hope your trip is great!

Man, going to Rotnest Island to play with quokkas with Devvy sounds like the greatest day in the world lol
Love the puzzle. Thank you for that. Cant wait to see what you create next. Fly safe
90 ideas? If 10 of them turn into DT quality songs that would be a major win. Keep posting and thanks.

Hi Dev,
Have fun, be well.
So right, both you and Hans. Setting an 'ambiance' for an album is so important. and a n art a bit lost these days. I even do the same with songs. I need a title, that setts the mood and landscape .
Will you be doing any behind the scene stuff about working within the atmos environment?
Gotta watch with coffee!
See you at the Forum mate! ❤
You know, you could just get those glasses fitted a bit better?
Thanks for the update!

Hi Devin ☕
TOMMOROW NIGHT DUDE!!!!!!!! melbourne forum!!!!
Any time to work on the Atmos mixes yet?
STEVE VAI!!!
Don't be so harsh on you. If you want to talk about Puzzle is fine.
Change the pitch, increase or decrease the tempo, play it in reverse... I wonder: what will you come up with?
The bald man speaks!
Would you consult with Steven Wilson for getting up to speed with Atmos?
