Actually, Jay&Amber, you've done Robert Palmer twice - once for "Simply Irresistible" and once as the lead singer of the supergroup The Power Station ("Some Like It Hot"). To complete the triad of Robert's biggest solo hits, your next one has to be "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On". But if you want a more serious side of him, do "Mercy Mercy Me". He also did a wonderful duet with the reggae group UB40 with "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight". Great choice. Can't believe it's going on 19 years since Robert left us.

I seem to remember that “Addicted to Love” came out first, and was a huge hit, so he followed up with “Simply Irresistible.” The video was a parody of the celebrity scene at the time, and music videos in general. The models aren’t playing their instruments, which is a nod to the common practice, dating back to TV in the ‘50s, of “live” performances that were just lip-synced to the original record.

This video with the "Dancing Mannequins" was so popular they brought them back for Simply Irresistible and he was definitely a refined ladies man. He was a classy gentleman and always well dressed. No doubt that you should listen to "Sneakin Sally Through the Alley" which predated the two you have presented.

Tons of criticism about the ladies backing him in this song. I just said get over it no one was being exploited it was just an artistic choice.

@@gitmobob6266 the visual was Palmer's idea so the director put out a call to modeling agencies. They were even told that they would play dancing mannequins in a music video. Not only did they have plenty of models wanting the job but when they decided to do the same theme a year later for "Simply Irresistible" all of the original ladies came back to do it.

I saw him live in the late 70s. I remember he apologized to the audience for not dressing "more appropriately". His luggage was lost at the airport and he performed in jeans and sweater. Still a memorable show!

You should listen to the "addicted to love - live in NYC 1997" he's got double the band behind him and a bunch of saxophones live. It hits harder than the album version. He was one of those that was even better live. Robert palmer was a badass. RIP

I love that Amber is so into Pink Floyd!
This is peak 1985 Robery Palmer. If you like this period try "I Didn't Need to Turn You On: from that period.
You might also be interested in earlier works like "Sneakin' Sally Thru the Alley", "Woke Up Laughing" and " Johnny and Mary". Check them out for a different sound from Palmer.
