      @@TheToneLounge marshall studio vintage, ceriatone, or maybe even an evh 5150? evh blue channel sounds mega to me but i also want a vintage breakup/light crunch to play fuzz pedals through. i feel like i can boost and shape the marshall types to get high gain sounds but getting vintage out of evh might be tricky maybe.

      @@AudreyYun the 5150 is indeed a killer amp. Like you, I don’t know how it fairs with fuzz and Classic Rock tones. Have you also checked out the Origin 20 and 50? Those get very good reviews.

    Sounds good overall man. I hear that attenuators on most amps/ heads do very little, especially when it comes to bedroom playing. Such a bummer cause you'd think at 0.5 you'd be good. Still I believe this thing has that Marshall tone. Great detailed review man.

    • @TheToneLounge

      Thank you so much Brandon. I always try and find ways to make gear work for me, despite the size or the budget. It's all a matter of what your expectations are versus what the product can or can't do. This is definitely a Marshall, but it goes to show how important the speaker is overall in terms of tone.

    The origin 5c is the "beano" album sound in a box... don't buy it if you want a Hi-fi sound, but if you want the beano and early led zeppelin sound, it's a must have (with a tone bender for the zeppelin sound 😍🤟)

    A pair of one 8" and one 6"speaker fits in there nicely but you need to make a new baffle with the correct holes. I put Jensen C8R and C6V in there, to stay in the correct proce category. Two 8 ohm speakers in series give the required 16 ohms, that opens up the selection of speakers. I guess two 8 ohm speakers would fit, too, but I did not check those measurements.

      Thanks for sharing. Did it improve the tone of the amp?

      @@TheToneLounge I like the fat crunch and meaty cleans I get, but as I cannot A-to-B with the factory speaker it is hard to say how much the new speakers improved the tone, if any. I want to believe the tone is juicier now.
      The amp sounds very good. No reverb needed. For comparison I have many other tube amps, e.g. Fender Vibro Champ, Supro Delta King 12, all Marshall DSL sizes, Blackstar HT-1R and HT-5R and this Origin 5C is on par with them. Why does it have such a bad reputation? Is it just the speaker?
      I am a hobbyist. Main music interests are 1970ish country, early Tom Petty and any jazz. Absolutely no metal and very little rock. These are the tones I am after.

    • @reynolddovkin2337
      @reynolddovkin2337 6 месяцев назад

      @@TheToneLounge Yes it did improve the tone a lot!
      I bought another Origin 5C and just did a tone comparison. The stock speaker gives a cold, thin and honky tone whereas the double Jensens are fat and meaty. Relatively speaking. What a mistake from Marshall to put that small Celestion in this amp!
      This second one will get a Jensen MOD10-70 10" and a MOD5-30 5" speaker pair. The smaller one is most sensitive from 4 to 12 kHz where the larger one is quiet. It will be interesting to hear this hifi style speaker combination in this guitar amp.

      Depending on your budget, the HB 1x12 cab with V30 is a great option.

    That cabinet looks like it could be rerouted to accommodate a bigger speaker 🤔 I also might be wrong, because it looks like the baffle is 2 pieces, and there may be a specific reason for that...but as long as you find a speaker with the same mounting depth, it should be golden

      That amp, imho, should have come stock with a 12Èspeaker instead of the 8". It would have made for a much more successful product. But yeah, I'm sure that someone that was willing enough could get a 10" in there at least.

    Totally agree with you about the speaker sound 😞... I was thinking to replace it wih a 10" celestion greenback, the hole can be enlarged but do you think it could be possible in terms of depth size?

      I don't know. I think using an exterior cab might be the easier choice.

      @@TheToneLounge I've just found and ordered an 8" Jensen alnico speaker that seems to fit with the size. I am looking forward to receive it, let's hope so!

    Would this amp work for blues jam open mic setting? I also have a 1x12 Texas heat cab that might be great with this amp

    • @TheToneLounge
      @TheToneLounge  2 года назад

      It would. As long as you have the possibility to Mic it up, then I would say yes.

      Thank you so much! Yeah, that stock speaker is garbage. The amp sounds far better with a 12" driver. Plus, the price is not too shabby either. ;)

    I have the 50c and the 20c, this 5c doesn’t have the Marshall thing going on, probably because an 8 inch speaker cont really convince anyone. Back to the island of misfit amps.

      I tried it with IRs and it still sounded small and boxy. It's really not what I had hoped for with this amp. It could have been so much better.

    Just wouldn’t use the cab you are talking about then that only comes in 8 ohm
