I own all three of these amps 5, 20, and 50. They all sound like whatever guitar I play through them. Great amps for pedals and all alone plug and play. The sound in this video doesn’t do them justice. I like these amps because they sound old school. Can’t beat the price either.

Hard to tell how much RUclips alters the sound. A massive improvement with the 12" speaker, but I thought it sounded terrible through the 8"

I would say RUclips don't alter the guitar tone at all. Artefacts of lossy formats affect frequencies outside of the typical guitar frequency range. When I started to upload my videos to RUclips, I made a careful comparison between source wav files and RUclips versions using studio monitors and headphones and could not hear any considerable difference. P.S. in the early RUclips years they used much more destructive compression, so those time it was an issue, but not anymore.

Hello, Takis here. Thank you both for watching and commenting!
I can confirm that YoutTube does not alter the sound at all. I use a mic close up (typically an SM57) and I blend in some of the stereo mic of the Zoom H6 (about 3m away from the amps), to try and recreate the sound we hear in the bay. I don't compress or edit the sound in post, I just do levels and render in stereo using Audition (including our lapel mics). What I hear in the individual files is exactly the same as the rendered video and the uploaded clip on RUclips. Hence the great effort people put in making these videos, especially pro channels with way more expensive and sophisticated gear than us. We're still working on it :)
I didn't think the 8'' sounded that terrible, just not convincing enough.. indeed way better with the 12''. But for practice/home-noodling, quite a decent amp, even with the 8'' (don't expect a great range of sounds, though - more like a one-trick pony).
Thanks again, guys! What amps would like us to try out?

@@TheGuitarBay Thanks for the reply Takis. With the Russia/Ukraine conflict creating issues with tube supplies, I rushed out and bought a Fender '65 Princeton 2 days ago (while they were still available). Now I'm looking for an affordable Accoustic. Currently considering the Yamaha FG800. So reviews and recommendations of Accoustic guitars around that price range would be great.

I'm gonna take Takis's other suggestion and say Overnite Sensation - Frank Zappa.
That Marshall has a good bite, would love to see how its bigger brothers perform.

It doesn't make coffee... What I mean is that people keep commenting on the 8" speaker. Well you're going to miss some bottom end due to physics... It sounds nice enough and you can pick one up for entry level modelling amp money. Strong points are imho the size and price as weight and pedal friendlyness as the L😎😎KS

I bought mine the same way as you did...
