Little tip for anyone doing this stick a bit of foam tape over the top of the sd card stop it popping out if it’s dropped trust me you won’t regret it.
That issue about the screws not lining up bothers me. Especially when you spent good money and the new parts are useless, and you wind up using your old parts.
Hi do you know If you can press and hold on the center button to bring up a browse artist mini menu on the 5.5 gen? I remeber on the Nano you could be on a random song then press and hold the main button and you could quickly browse the artist or album, or add to on the go. Does this ipod do that?
Hello! No I don’t think you are able to do that on this gen but I think you are able to do that on the 6th and 7th gen classics. I’m not 100% sure though as I haven’t tried it before.
theres a thing i know and that is about the headphone port. some versions have slated top a little cure like to go with the back of the case and then theres the straight top version which is what it looks like u have and u have put the jack in a slimmer case maybe? also why didnt u upgrade battery to bigger size?
@@fixingfaming Could you elaborate a bit on your dissatisfaction with the parts? I'm looking to do the exact build you did, but with a red center button, and I'm looking at the face and back plates atm. I imagine the front plate is different plastic, which is what I expect, so it'll probably look and feel plasticky. I was wondering if it's as thick as the original and does it flex at all if you press on it? About the backplate... is it a different metal? Is it as thick? Does it feel as solid as the original? I think the original backs were made of stainless steel which seems like a pricey material for chinese knockoffs. Somebody else commented on the thin/thick backs and suggested you get a back from iDemiGods. I was wondering if you ended up getting one and how that compares to the chinese backplate? Thanks for your time. I really watched the video for porn shots of the finished black and red to preview my build, so thanks for the last few minutes!
@@Metahec I'm not op, but as an iPod enthusiast I recommend you to go to eoe.works A lot of iPod RUclipsrs including dankpods recommend his store, and imo it's one of the best
Hello! Glad you enjoyed the video. The front on mine is definitely lower quality then original and you can definitely see light in some places but it’s not terrible. The back is nice and feels almost like an original back. I bought my parts off of eBay. I wasn’t able to buy off of one person because most people didn’t have parts in stock or it would take months to get parts (it was the middle of COVID with the holidays coming up so shipping was a mess). Other then that all the parts are decent and look pretty good so I’m happy with it. I would just look around and see what sellers have and what your able to buy. Also I would recommend looking at there reviews/sold amount. That may help you find good quality parts! Hope this helps!

iPods. The pinnacle of humanity. Imagine: portable music, you can take anywhere, listen to at any time.
Are there any companies that sell Ipod parts that are as good as factory Apple manufactured parts???
amazing restoration keep up the great work.
Thanks man!
Great video Gavin!! Did you put hashtags?
great restoration, and man those colors look good!
Would the Touch ID from an iPhone 6 replace the button in the middle of the click wheel for a fancier look I wonder?

Congratulations😊👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Nice present.
turned out sooo good!
Thank you

I would have put a towel or cloth down first so the new Ipod face wouldn't get scratched. But that's just me.
This awesome 👏!!

OK thank you so much
