    To start learning the Single Plane golf swing, I produced a pocket guide that you can take to the golf course or the range. You can Learn to swing like Moe. Just an pick up a copy of the Single Plane pocket guide here: SwingPocketGuid....

    The golf swing must be taught from the inside (body) out (arms, hands, club). If you don't position and move the body correctly, the arms must compensate during your swing. Once the body is moving correctly, the arms move naturally in a way where the lead arm rotates and the trail arm moves non-rotationally, like skipping a rock.
    The arms move in the most efficient motion possible to square the club face. In this video I discuss how the arms move in the golf swing.

    About the SPS
    The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
    Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
    This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
    The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.

    To find out more about the Single Plane Swing, I have created a "Single Plane Pocket coach" that you can take to the range, or course, and learn the fundamentals of the swing. Find out more about the Pocket Coach here: SwingPocketGuide.com..

    You don’t really complicate the swing, you are just willing to explain a complicated motion. Keep doing what you’re doing. Haters are gonna hate 😂

    I just took up golf again, after ten years away due to a bad back. I stumbled upon you and Moe, and have studied most all of your videos and his. After ten years away from golf, and only three months practicing what I see you and Moe doing, I’m hitting them straighter than ever. Keep these videos coming.

    Todd thank you. I was developing a lead arm chicken wing post impact from hold off the release of the face. Been working on that external forearm rotation and making a big difference with consistency and club face Control.

    I really liked this one. The general single plane position information is really helpful for understanding the swing, but bits like arm motion and how the lead arm folds after impact rather than being held off and hurting the back is also super helpful. It lets golfers understand the release of the swing which can help them if they get too caught up in trying to force positions. Great video!

    Hi Todd, just watched this, I’m still not getting any consistency with my shots. I’m persevering and trying to get consistency. Every vlog you put out and there are many, gives me something new to try on the range. Although I haven’t cracked it yet, I hope I do because I feel this could be the way for me. Thanks for your vlogs, I really appreciate your breakdown of this swing and your patience trying to get your thoughts across. I’ll let you know if I get there, the only reason I haven’t given up yet is your belief and patience.

    I have been naturally gravitating towards single plane swing as I keep experimenting with my swing and it has been working pretty well. However, recently as I became closer and closer to be single plane swinger, i started noticing I have been hooking the ball more often - this video clearly explains what is happening and I am able to diagnose the issue now (my grip has becoming stronger and stronger as I keep left arm in line with the shaft). Thanks Todd!

    I think there are different types of learners in golf. I need the nuance and details of how certain body motions influences the swing.
    I appreciate your explanation here.
    I imagine that teaching golf is a balance between providing the right amount of information per session, without overwhelming with too much detail for some.

    Todd, internal to external rotation of the lead arm...that is huge. I have been feeling a little lower back compression lately (...and maybe even a little sharing as a result) as I focused on "extending" thru the finish...and haven't been able to figure out why. But now I can see on my own vids that I am lifting the lead shoulder - and not rotating the lead arm properly into the finish. Massive for me. Can't wait to work on this. Thanks Buddy!

    Moe talked about pulling with the lead arm. Do you feel like you are pulling with the lead arm while the trail arm rides along?

    That’s a very good explanation Todd, and I agree 100%. Thank you! Is this move similar or even the same as the Hogan Roll? No disrespect to Moe Norman that obviously swung that way as well.

    Interesting about strong grip and back problems, Fred Couples has a strong grip and we hear about his back from time to time, his swing you see stacked shoulders thru the ball and a lot of side bend, Moe I would say more level shoulders.

    I have a question about Moe swing, in the set up the lead wrist is extended like casting a fishing rod and in the backswing has the elbow folds the lead wrist angles changes. My question is in the downswing, when does the wrist angle get released back to the set extended position.

    Todd thank you for this video. I have only just begun using the SPS & already hitting the ball with great ease of contact. I have always tried to swing by having my hips turn aggressively to lead the downswing by creating 'separation' of hips v shoulders. I have noticed that you in this video seem to not do this & am I correct in saying that your hips move into the downswing & remain relatively square in the downswing through impact?.
    (I do understand that you initially have to pressure the bent front lead leg to perform this correctly in downswing).

    Thanks Todd, my question is does that lead forearm turn naturally inward when trail arm folds in the backswing?

    • @ToddGravesGolf
      @ToddGravesGolf  Год назад

      The arm turns with the body turn in the initial part of backswing, Then it is already rotated when you begin to fold up. Does that make sense? Make sure you check your plane in backswing .

    • @mplunky1
      @mplunky1 Год назад

      @@ToddGravesGolfdoes the forearm rotation into impact happen naturally due to all things done correctly on the backswing or do you intentionly rotate the forearm through impact?

  • @Puttj
    @Puttj Год назад

    MO and you have said that the left arm only rotates in concert with shoulder rotation and that you shouldnt force rotation. Your student in a separate video said never let the shoulders advance before the arms. That the shoulders follow the arms. Seems there is a lot of contradictory information.

    • @ToddGravesGolf

      Who forces rotation? I never use that word. Shoulders advance? I never use that terminology either. Maybe you’re misunderstanding

    What I've seen Upper level to lower level golfers is being too rigid in the wrists. Very few and I mean few teach the whipping of the club through the ball. I hear hips, legs, waist ,arms. I would love to see starting at the whip which creates head speed to then the rest of the body to create accuracy.
