A robot way to say, "My friend said I should sleep around." Isaac had no such desire, before or after his conversation w/Cmdr Lamar. Lamar told Isaac what would be best for his upcoming marriage, and Isaac couldn't figure out he was getting bad advice.
I think people are missing the point that the joke is Isaac's approach is indeed without shame. Most people wouldn't be so direct to ask if they could clap those "One season of Wonder Woman, John Wick, Star Trek TNG knock-off" cheeks. He, without shame, will always go all in.
Not my favourite season but I still loved it. Isaac stripping in the final episode was one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen and I rarely laugh so hard. SO good. But I was reminded that, just like Star Trek, there has apparently been no good music written for four hundred years because they ALWAYS listen to 20th century music and that is SO freaking stupid. At least hire a cool synth dude from RUclips to do some of the music. Their music choices ALWAYS being hundreds of years old is just f###### ridiculous.
This is something I think civilians believe is an old naval tradition. I grew up an Air Force brat and then joined the Army and all female officers were addressed as Ma’am. In the AF they would sometimes use their rank, like “Yes, Major” , but it was uncommon. In the Army I once slipped and did that. It wasn’t a good idea. But the Navy is “200 years unhampered by progress”, so maybe it is an old tradition there.
It could be because in the future, they have removed gender from the term "Sir" and it is now used to address an Officer regardless male, female or anything else.
When women were first starting to integrate into the military, standard practice was to call a superior officer Sir, regardless of their gender. If that officer granted permission to use Ma'am, you could use that. We've since updated that code, but it still worked that way when Gene Roddenberry came up with Star Trek, so that's how they wrote it, and The Orville is a parody of Star Trek so it carried over.
Very uncharitable of her - I mean loads of others got a turn didnt they? And surely as a senior officer she can offer guidance and counsel to help two senior officers under her command succeed in a "joint mission" like marriage?

Technically, she WAS the last person Isaac talked to about marriage & sexual activity. Cmdr Grayson ordered him not to speak of it to anyone else & Isaac followed that order.
Great series, but at a 21-year veteran of the military, I'm a little tired of Hollywood's utter ignorance of the way things really are. I know it is fiction, but obviously the Orville is trying to portray a realistic military organization. In any military, no one EVER says "That's an order", because any command given is understood to be a command...not a request. No one ever says "With all due respect" either... Also, there is a ridiculous amount of drinking on duty...which is NEVER permitted. In a war zone, you would not have the CO and XO both absent from the ship at the same time, and certainly not drinking off duty at the same time. Also, where are the enlisted men? You can't function without the enlisted men, and there is certainly no reason to have only officers. Also, it's a little goofy to call wiping out the Kaylon "genocide", lol. We are talking about machines that want to destroy ALL biological life. If there ever was a reason to wipe something out, this would be it.
Isn’t that the same with any show. They always show the high command, but never the grunts. I want to see a show where someone advances to the ranks of high command through hard work, sacrifices, and determination. Everyone on this show except for the woman who hated kaylon’s were higher-ups on the military ladder. And I think the said that to Isaac because he is not really part of their military, and if they pissed him off, he could kill them. Oh, thank you for your years of service
Actually this show was pretty realistic about wiping out the Kaylons. You said that if there was a reason for wiping all of them out, this would be, right? Well, what they are also showing is sometimes things go the other way for whatever reason. Like this guy says I don't want to wipe out the Kaylons, and it makes perfect sense because one of the people working for him is a Kaylon, so he has an attachment to the Kaylon race here. This is true even in terms of real life situations. Like once upon a time, White people wanted to take over the world, but then, other races retaliated. We don't know 100% if the White people even had a superior weapon that could have allowed for them to take over the world, but maybe the other people working at the military felt a bias due to maybe someone that is not White working for them. And where things actually get even more realistic is just because the human race doesn't want to wipe out Kaylons, doesn't mean other alien races wouldn't protest this? This is literally why the Kaylons and humans called a truce, and the other alien races went against the humans now being branded as a traitor. I'm just pointing at the fact that it's not unrealistic to assume the idea of the people at the top deciding hey, let's not kill Kaylons here. And EMPHASIS ON THE PEOPLE AT THE TOP HERE, do you not remember how there was this traitor human being that took this Kaylon kill technology to the alien races? And the alien races could not simply leave this human traitor alive because he could wind up telling those people that he betrayed his human race out of guilt, or he might get discovered, and these people will interrogate him for information because he works for the military. I think the writing was pretty spot on in my opinion there.
The Orville isn’t a military ship, it’s a science/exploration ship. It’s staffed by personnel not soldiers. It isn’t equipped with any battle measurements either.
