  • Many people think meditation means “Think of nothing, block current emotion”, or some people think meditation means fantasy, achieving peace and joy, achieving a special state of mind, but it’s actually not. Meditation is completely natural. So what you need to do is recognize awareness. So here is Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche's five simple tips to start practicing meditation. RECAAAAAAAP
    1. The essence of meditation is awareness
    - if you know you are talking that is awareness of talking.
    - awareness is free; awareness is completely transparent. Its like space
    2. Maintain that recognition (through support for monkey mind)
    - you can use for example breath as support for awareness
    - should be gentle awareness
    3. Dont block thoughs or emotions
    - thoughts can come and go, but dont forget your breath
    4. Wonderful experience
    - seems like you are thinking more than before (perhaps also more difficult thoughts)
    - this is a good sign, because you are recognizing your thoughts. Now you can bring peace to them etc..
    5. Meditation experiences changes
    - like stockmarket or waves in the ocean. It will go up and down, but dont care so much about it. Slowly it will become better

Joy Boy for every state of mind you're in, you tend to take certain postures and flows of the breath. forcing yourself will only cause more instability, instead if you find yourself drifting of, just observe that you are aware of that and you can let it go, a good way is to breath with your diaphragm while inhaling, and when exhaling just relax, don't push the air out, let it go by itself as if you drop a balloon full of air

haha ashu g, Hinduism is not complex. At ancient times, only simplicity exists in Hinduism. But unfortunately, from the time Britishers conquered india then the people of india started different complexities in Hinduism. Don't forgot that Buddhism has driven from Hinduism only . All are its techniques and methods are taken from Hinduism only. But unfortunately, many hindu people are living in material life comforts where as Buddhist people are struggling hard to reach high spiritual planes... Buddhism only teaches path of meditation. Well, its absolutely good way to reach goal (Liberation). But they don't depend on god. I will tell you, you will reach goal very sooner by love and devotion towards god and others. Hinduism not only teaches path of meditation but also teaches path of work, worship and path of knowledge. Hinduism teaches that you can choose anyone of these or all and reach goal the ultimate.

Yes he said waterfall. These thoughts later disappear after a few months of meditating or become few and don't last. Even when they are powerful emotional thoughts, you learn to deal with them positively and compassionately. Also being forceful to block all thoughts make them come even more. I've heard someone call learning to meditate and to keep coming back gently to your focus "training the puppy". When we are gentle with our mistakes, try our best and don't get hung up on the result, things go way better. Just like you would train a puppy, that's how you train your mind.

    • @mizofan
      @mizofan 7 лет назад +3

yeah I think; be gentle with ourselves, don't chastise ourselves for forgetting about the breathing, just think "that's ok" and then back to the breathing; don't think "oh I haven't made much progress", just enjoy being aware and progress will automatically come, there's no competition against anyone, no deadline, no need to grasp after perfection or quick results.. And try to keep a routine, a regular practice, and if we get out of it, then be glad when we start up again.

At 2:30: The captions should read: "Seems like thoughts are getting more than before" (not "are getting more difficult," as they currently read).
Others have already commented that "wonderful" in the subsequent statement should be "waterfall" ("That's a very good sign. It's what we call a waterfall experience.")
These corrections change the meaning substantially.
Otherwise these are very direct, simple, helpful instructions.

    1) recognize awareness (beginning with our awareness of this video and its speech coming to you and back and forth)
    2) maintain that recognition (recognition of your breath is a good starting point)
    3) don't block current emotions (including those RIGHT NOW! don't forget that breath 😌)
    4) recognize your thought! (Which comes with increase awareness of your breath)
    5) meditation experiences change...try not care about the ocean of change that comes with your heightened awareness of breath and thought (?)

True gems of knowledge is scarce, I've been meditating alot and haven't got a stable meditation teacher, now when i've found a good one, i am truuuuuuuly happy. SO HAPPY. Before, I only followed another teacher that said: "Just don't think" It was hard, but it worked, although it required tremendous effort, like going to the gym, you didn't have to worry about breaking any bones or getting sore. Now when i follow this method that is precise and very clear, i feel that i will improve tremendously.

Although his goal seems to be - just truth, knowledge and he (probably) does not give practical advices like in Buddhist tradicions they do. Buddha's cessation of suffering is very pleasing : ]
