These days, I also worry how much we emphasize "mental disorders," as if these "feelings" of sadness, anger, happiness, anxiety, etc. are able to be controlled by pharmaceuticals and are abnormal! When I was in school, I remember many classmates taking pills to help with attention, calming, anger, focus, nerves, sports, etc. the list goes on... Little is said of environment, social structure or way of living also being a cause of these extreme feelings that sometimes overtake us, rather, we rush to the nearest quickest solution, I always felt this is a very dangerous method to raise our children in, let's get creative not just sedate these feelings. The access to information is unlimited now, that also includes misinformation, build a personal community around you with people who are creative and in love with loving, support from those who truly care not about who you become but more about your freedom to become is very important step imo. Peace and love, thank you for continuing to share these lectures so openly without charge, hoping one day to visit the PRS and their library. ❤

worrying is not a good idea. your post is a perfect example of said mental illness. you refer to "extreme feelings" umm... no. it's called extreme "thinking" of the bad variety. the feelings about these thoughts are another issue in itself. furthermore you wrote " i always felt" this use of the word "feel" this way is a problem. you mean you always "thought"*. it's called thinking. idk why we can't say this word anymore but i suspect TV and netflix has alot to do with it. funny your huge post does not mention television. not once. "information" yeah about that. you didn't mention knowledge or wisdom either. information is garbage. so there's that.
that said - it is also far from "unlimited" not even close. the fact this comment has 23 likes already with zero responses is indicative as well. how about someone say why they like this comment? because as you can clearly see - i don't agree with most any of it except that last bit about visiting the library. it's abject nonsense. tons is said "of environment". that's almost all anyone does is talk.
talk. is. cheap. i believe we should stop telling others what to do in most cases. but that's just me.

"we" using this word this way is begging to be wrong.
we? did you mean the press and government? feelings are not thoughts.
      feelings. are. not. thoughts.

    • @ssjlkrillin
      @ssjlkrillin 2 дня назад +1

I think this person meant "we" in a general sense [society], quite obviously; they weren't referring to "us" specifically (at least I understand that).
Nonetheless, thoughts precede emotions [feelings], which precedes action. You can not generate an emotion without having processed a preceding event or circumstance. I see no issue with this person framing anger, sadness, etc. in the context of emotion versus thought because they CAN be both.
Do not allow such a red herring to distract from the essence of the comment, which is emotions are meant to be felt, not medicated. If you're experiencing a negative emotion, it is a cue for learning and growth, and your actions in the negative state of mind should always lean towards the constructive. Of course, this requires maturity and wisdom to discern.

Awesome! Never knew there was still so much interest in these topics! By 'we' I was referring to conscious intellectual thoughtful reflecting humans, yes, thru conscious reflection 'we' (humans) have defined and continue to define this world. 'we' (humans) have achieved so much through this conscious reflecting process, I (this individual conscious human) believes media, Hollywood, law industries, governments, education, etc, are MAN made, by 'us' (conscious intellectual reflecting humans) 'our' 'thoughts' define 'our' world, together 'we' (conscious intellectual reflecting humans) have created 'our' world, 'we' (conscious intellectual reflecting humans) can change 'our' world through force or democracy, I (this individual conscious) stand with my country (were I was born and raised), which established 'laws' to protect freedoms and allow change through democratic processes, get the right leaders in the right positions, I would serve a King David or King Solomon any day, I'll die before ever raising my hand for a Hitler, extreme example but 'I' always believed 'we' give the power and 'we' can take away the power, us, united, conscious humans.

This lecture lit a spark within me and made me realize how much of my youth was wasted in toxic fantasies that have nothing (or very little) to do with reality. I see many of my peers still locked into this imaginary portal that often denies you an ability to flex discernment and good judgement. I think “Disney adults” are one toxic manifestation of this propaganda tool. While escape is often vital, it can be a negative when done regularly.

Me too no pun intended -but an irony is I keep finding myself back here on RUclips and it takes time to find quality stuff like this. It's telling me stuff I already know but I guess best part of breaking The habit. I come here to take breaks from study but it's often hard to prevent this from spilling over into distraction

Politicians should listen to this. They actively discouraged people from attempting to understand a situation that radically changed their lives. Suddenly many were "non essential", and we were mocked for "doing our own research".

I threw my television away in 2008'. I have next to no idea what's gone since I ditched the propaganda box. 😂...BTW yes Master Kong was correct and he was correct on many many occasions. The Maitreya is the thinker who's followed all these people, and sacrificed all for wisdom.

Man, what a great lecture! Though I still continue to use the tv, I practice the virtue that the Stoics in the past would practice with; Moderation. I still watch movies, shows, lectures, etc, but without cable tv and only at certain hours throughout the week. Just recognizing that you have this power and choice to moderate these things (or any activity for that matter), gives one the edge in being able to continue with their creative activities elsewhere and not keeping their eyes glued to the screen for days on end. Kudos to MPH for his valuable insight!

Takes the attention &/or focus away from the unfolding fantasy that could very well be life if one allows such an endeavor. Can be a spectacle to behold and greater than any combination of pixel motion. No greater hypnotic than the square box.

most people are not on the internet barely @ all.
a vast majority of people these days play games. sports and video games.
watching these games is probaby the largest rated section of all programs.
this idea is a huge derailment of the entire premise from the jump. most people are not "watching" anything. so there's that. but of those of us that do - the majority of it is on netflix and/or other streaming or cable services. most people are either out spending money or trying to make it. same goes for social media - no one uses it by and large. the numbers are just stupid low - yet everyone mostly thinks the opposite. these numbers are gradually changing but the data is all flawed and complicated. most accounts are bots and "work" related.

except that didn't work for Mr. Hall. the TV is not our problem. it's called netflix.
the effect and importance of a specific TV program is time sensitive. this is very complicated and involved so it won't be resolved here but i'm putting it on the record.
this entire idea is a wash. ain't no one living happily ever after - that's just comical.
and infact the concept of wanting to live happily ever after is comical. it's a terrible idea.
it's in stark contrast to Zen and other balanced concepts. lopsided good vibes only time bomb.
