Nebuchadnezzar also sieged Tyre for 13 years, taking the City captive in 573BC: the same time as the biblical account of the Jews, (& again the Romans in 70AD after a 3.5 year siege, also consistent with the same biblical accounts).

In terms of failure, I guess not changing the world is a failure? Ascending would definitely be a succes. Descending and assisting mortals would be pretty neat. But seriously what you're up against is quite mischevous to be polite and besides an enlightened being on earth that has not ascended to full glory will always be not at full concious truth.
