- The rush to rescue a little boy, beneath the surface of a frozen pond. It was a successful save, but the footage may be hard to watch. Kirsten Mitchell walks us through the moments that led to this high honor for some Minneapolis police officers.
That female cop straight up went for that kid with zero hesitation.
She is most likely a mama bear
She was frantically getting to him and getting him to the ambulance. Could be the seconds between surviving or not. She was a true hero in this moment.
The others were walking. Maybe they didn’t see him yet? She did and she sprinted. As a dad I can’t imagine I’d be doing anything other than running.
Female cop went total mama bear. She ran straight in the water to save that boy!!!
That was absolutely a mother’s reaction. I’ve seen the same when my little brother fell into a pool and was drowning with no one noticing. She flew into the pool so fast and scooped him up just like this cop did.
Omg her crying and running to save him has me balling..Her motherly instincts immediately kicked in and her praying for him,ahh my heart.God bless both these Officers.
She should definitely not be a first responder when she is reacting in such way. That in itself couldve hindered with the rescue.
@@selectiveapathy She saved that child because she cared that much. Trolls....ugh
@@selectiveapathy: Perhaps all first responders should be ‘selective apathetic’ cowards?
“Motherly instincts” Not all women are mothers or have those instincts! It’s her job to save people, and that’s what she did. Stop chalking women up to being mothers.
@@selectiveapathy thank you for proving the quote “men can react, and women can only overreact” i swear to god… women aren’t allowed to show emotion in this life, without being criticized to hell and back.
They called and waited for the cops?
WTF?
why risk their life to then need to save 2 people?? cant say its the wqrong decision tbh
@@Eclipse-lw4vf Its a pond...
@@Eclipse-lw4vf. The water isn’t even over the head…and it’s a tiny pond. If a woman officer can go in that water with full equipment on…then his own family or others could have gone in to rescue him while waiting on the ambulance to arrive. Strangers have even jumped in the ocean with strong waves to save children where I live….but someone can’t go into a small pond to help this boy?
Yeah, WTF?? If I saw a kid falling into an icy pond, there's no waiting for cops/help to arrive. After calling 911, I would be in the water getting the kid. If there was another person in my house I would tell them to call 911 while I went for the kid. Was that lady in white a neighbor or the mother? I couldn't really hear all she said over the sirens and voice-over.
@@starshine3588and some of those people never make it out. it’s not a matter of being a good swimmer or not.
I knew that woman was a mom the second she threw herself onto that ice.
Did you know the male was a dad?
Nope. I'm a mom so I know how moms react.
The guy also. I just knew he was a mother the second he threw himself onto the ice.
@@TC-cr2oy😂 most moms don't react anywhere near to this lol
@@TC-cr2oy calling and waiting for police?
The way the lady officer tumbled into that freezing pond got me! She didn't even thought about her own safety!
The Officer didnt even hesitate jumping in the "below freezing" pond! We need more Officers like him in this world!😊
And her
And HER
Her! And they all went in. She just went faster. We also have plenty more cops like them. Plenty. That phrase is overused and under-educated.
And her!!
@@Yosetime Actually no,the male Cop was already waste in,she slipped, but she darn sure found him.
There’s an expression in lifesaving “A child isn’t dead until they’re WARM and dead.”. Cold water can have a surprising effect on children’s brains, can make them last much longer than you’d think. Don’t give up on lifeless little ones. I’m SO glad these guys didn’t.
I came to mention this too, doctors use cold to lower the core body temp of head trauma patients so the brain swelling goes down and it increases odds of survival. There's a LOT of stories of people getting injured but the cold temps they were in saved them.
Not just children, anyone!
Wow, police woman couldn't get there fast enough! Did a flying split land onto the ice like cat woman! Grabbed that baby and flew outta that water. Even her crying out loud like that can actually cause the lifeless victim to hear her and respond. Wow. I use to train responders for the Red Cross. These officers didn't hesitate.
SHE was NOT SCREWING AROUND!! God bless you Officer for saving that little boy!! Very impressive.
Man, this was one incident where a female officer made sense. She jumped on that ice like a momma on instinct.
Watching officer Ashley hit that pond at full speed and show so much compassion is truly amazing.
What a compassionate police officer. You could hear the desperation in her voice. She truly cared. I’m so glad he had these two on that call 🙏🏻.
Thank you to the woman officer she ran with urgency right when she seen him! Jumped in there and saved him!
As did the other officer
You’d think that was his mom the way she was reacting. Well done, you two. God bless you.
Little kids have an amazing reflex called a mammalian response. They recover well from icy water accidents because their little bodies go into a type of “hibernation” and thus are frequently revived, as was this little boy. It’s not as protective as the time child immersed and rescued, but I’ve seen it happen throughout my ER nursing career. Adults have it to a degree, but are less likely to recover from such incidents. The officers were amazing in their rescue efforts and deserve every pat on the back they get. Such good news isn’t very common. 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦
Great job officers, thank you for all your service!
Just because they are law enforcement doesn’t mean they don’t have feeling. Remember what they have to see day in and day out. Thank you for your service! He is alive because of your quick reactions.
They get paid.
@@DickTahshon So does everyone else with feelings.
Where the hell were the parents? That's what I like to know and why the hell was a 4-year-old in a freaking pond. That's melting what you could drown once you fall through stupid parents
@@courtneyboudreau4284 very Good Question ,,, and the ponds are there all the time ... wow , mom and dad thanks i almost Drowned .
@@darylhodkinson5369 period. Unbelievable
Thank God and the police that saved him
here is a question, why did God choose to save the boy in the pond and not all those other little children that are dying of cancer. I think the police did a commendable job here.
@@DexterRoseif god saved every human on this earth we would die of starvation. Life is what it is. We can't explain why some people live through many circumstances and why some die. All the little children that past from this world are in a place where god has them close in a place where they will never know pain again. Thankfully these officers got to this little boy in time to save him. God didn't save him the officers did but I'm sure god was close by just in case he didn't make it. Everyone wants miracles but when Jesus died on the cross he died for our sins. God said there will be no more interaction with humans like in the old testament. We have a choice to believe or not believe in God. We have to except what happens in this world as life goes on but it's a lot better believing in something we can't explain than nothing at all. My life has been blessed because I believe in something that's so hard to believe in. You can't say no way is there a God because if there weren't we would not be here. The earth and sun would not be here. Can you imagine how we would survive without the sun. God put all this together including how our bodies are made for us to survive this earth and God willing a heart that will take to a old age. It's a miracle the heart can beat so many times for years and god made it that way. A massive muscle that keeps us alive. The body is incredible in itself with every organ for a reason. We didn't pop out of the ground this way. I will never know why people do not believe when their standing and talking and ears to hear. It's crazy.
When we stand before our lord and Savior Jesus CHRIST you will have all your answers and I am someone who doctors said you have 18 months to cancel has sperd from your colon to liver I can tell you that GOD is GOD AND I DON'T Question him.BUT I DO KNOW THERE IS POWER IN PRAY AND I DO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP GOD and not a Religion
@@barbaratankersley7117So happy to read all you wrote. God blessed you with more time with purpose.🙏🙂❤️
@@bobcatbigpaws5597Would like to add, that without God many would have no hope. There would be nothing telling us not to do something because it's wrong. Everyone would just do as they felt, with no guilt or shame. We may not see a physical sign saying I performed a miracle for you, we just know in our hearts. They happen often, are always amazing and gives us the reminder that the god we serve is loving. We love Him because He loved us first. Jesus is The King.🙏🙂❤️
If that was my child, I would not be just standing there while awaiting the police. I would have been in that pond trying to get my child.
MPD saves countless lives every year. Yet very few appreciate them. Our worthless City council refuses to help our understaffed MPD. Stand with the Blue.
its hard to have money for a police force when so much of it gets paid to settle lawsuits for murdering innocent civilians.
The same can be said for police officers across the nation. The media would rather focus on the negative incidents though.
@@chrisc2683that’s because there IS more negative than positive. That’s why we need more officers like these so we can have more positives. The bad ones have to be weeded out.
@@bluj5917 No there isn’t. Not even close. If you truly think that then there is no hope for you my friend.
@@bluj5917 More negative than positive? are you that delusional? Or are you a criminal?
Bravery. Plain and simple. Thank you both.
Good story, warms my heart. I became emotional for a sec. Glad to see this precious boy has fully recovered. Because I too had to be revived after nearly drowning as a child I strongly identify with this. Thank you officers! Blessings to all. 🙏
Guys standing around: "...is someone in the pond?"
Mom: **DIVES HEAD FIRST STRAIGHT INTO POND**
The woman who jumped in was the cop, not the mother of the child.
@@NikkiNole yeah, i know. and she's a mom
Saving a childs life is the greatest honour they'll ever recieve. Police get a lot of abuse and they risk their life for others. Thank you for your service.
He is adorable. Thank you heros
hats off to these officers saving this boys life ! great job!
officer Bergersen's reaction floored me. i cried for a good 5 minutes. these officers are amazing
Just had our first baby born a month and a half ago, and clips like this are immediately different to me now. It's crazy how things come into perspective after you have a kid and hold them for the first time. The lengths that I would go to in order to save a precious little soul like this are boundless. These officers are heroes and I can only pray heroes like these guys are around if my little one ever needed help and I wasn't there.
Powerful woman.
THANK YOU Officers.
God bless these officer's. Well done Gentlemen!! Well done!!

You can see and feel the mother instincts in that female cop kicking in and she did for this kid the same she would do for her own child ❤
Wow! Bless the officers for their selfless actions! Glad the little boy recovered fully too!

Amazing to see that officer perform her duty while expressing her humanity. She was crying, but that didnt slow her down at all.
God bless these heroes.❤ They are a blessing to their community.
God bless everyone involved!
So glad he’s okay & than you to those officers
There could be no worse thing than to have a child die so tragically. Thank GOD for these officers and their heroic actions. I was crying as I heard her emotions - she was so desperate for this child to live. Beautiful outcome.
Jeremy and Ashley are perfect examples of officers who didn’t think twice about saving someone.
Bravo! Let your instincts guide you. Very Brave.
Wow..no one else even tried to get him out of the pond? They just stood around waiting for police to arrive? And the officers had no problem just going in and grabbing him…the water wasn’t over their heads or anything…..but the people standing around or his own family wouldn’t even do anything? That’s just sad. It’s a miracle he survived without brain damage. Police can’t get somewhere within a minute or two…it takes longer than a person should be without oxygen….but no one else did anything…unbelievable.
Thank you for your service 🚔
Omg this had me bawling her momma instincts definitely reared its head❤❤
You instantly know the female officer is a Mother. Instincts kick in, zero hesitation, bravery from the bottom of her soul. God bless all of em.
Those are ACTUAL HEROS. May God bless & keep you both safe. Thank you for your service to your community.

Great job by those officers!! A miracle!! Heroes for sure. So glad that young boy doing well!! Tears of joy!! So thankful for those who serve!!❤❤🙏🙏
I'd be lying if I said I didn't actually tear up from this... the officer crying trying to save the little boy really got to me
Of course the women officer was emotional…..and did u see her just run and dive into pond, this is what mothers do. These 2 officers did a fantastic job. Crap I teared up thinking about that little person in the water, you really do, think of your own children in those situations.
Now that's what protect and serve looks like! Thank you, officers!
what they did was going way above and beyond, your body can stop working at any second in freezing cold water, they both ran in there with no regard for their own safety, true heros
That was all your Gaurdian Angels!! Thank you and God ❤bless
The greatest part of humanity at it’s finest.
Never got a long with police but it's good to know some people take that badge seriously. Well done
Yay for awesome humans ⭐️🥰

This looks soooo much like the footage of the female officer in Maine rescuing that kid from a pond. Crazy how similar they are.

The cold temps in the pond definitely helped keep him from dying! Those officers did such a good job reacting so fast and not caring about anything else but getting that boy to safety!

Thank God that baby boy was saved. God bless him and the officers no hesitation whatsoever. Thank God they were there and he was saved you officers were heroes and an Angel sent from God thank you so much for your efforts. The worst thing to go through is a loss of a child.
