If she stood up from her wheelchair in the doctors office and said “she’s a liar & keeping me sick” once she knew her mom was lying. Idk this case is complicated. Some of you people on here are so judgemental. This women served over 8 years in prison. She now knows she took the wrong route by what she did. She wants to help others. This poor girl was imprisoned by her mother for 22 or 23 years. She suffered extremely. Until you have lived this you have no idea the fear she lived in. She said that when she was in prison, she was free for the first time in her life. She has not been asking fir interviews. Lots of people want to hear her story.

I just feel sorry for the poor lad who is rotting away in a prison cell for the rest of his life while she is out and in a celebrity status. She was the one who got her boyfreind to do it for her. Her mother threatened her with breaking her hands if she left. When you have lived your whole life thinking that you are invalid, it programs the mind to believe it. You can’t compare her to someone with a regular upbringing because psychologically that’s not it.
I say just sit back & see what this young lady will do now. We cannot judge when we never grew up the way she did. She was so young & had no idea what to do. The constant infantilization, for one. Led to her situation falling through the cracks until it was too late because anyone of power is more unlikely to believe someone with a disability -- real or perceived. Hopefully she is able to get the help she needs... Same for Godejohn and even her new husband. Her situation is a clear systemic failure to protect the most vulnerable, if anything. I don't see it as a celebration of murder but as a failure of allowing disabled folx (again, real or perceived) to have agency and the ability to get appropriate care. She seems like she's trying to take responsibility and simultaneously heal from trauma and it's terrible how the media is exploiting her.

It bothers me that she is making excuses for her mother. I have a mental illness and so do A LOT of people...But we're not murderers. And, make no mistake, if Gypsy didn't get out when she did, Dee Dee would have killed her. In the documentary, the family also speculated that Dee Dee killed her own mother and tried to kill her stepmother. (If I remember correctly.) She definitely was an evil person. There's no excuse for what she did. It's actually dangerous to say, "She wasn't evil, she was just sick" because it makes it sound like mentally ill people are all capable of murder. Murderers come in all shapes and sizes...With mental illnesses and without. I don't care how sick you are, you are responsible for your own actions, especially when it comes to harming other people. And to harm her own child?! Dee Dee was a special kind of evil.

Sometimes is easier to remind yourself that your parent couldn’t love you because they were sick, to avoid thinking that it was because you were not lovable. That doesn’t mean the person condones people with mental illness that don’t have accountability and do nothing to be better, is more a self-explanation to alleviate the pain caused by the person.
When you are a child that is a victim suffering Munchausen By Proxy at the hands of a loved one, in Gypsy's case, her mother - she will always love her mom, she will still unconsciously stick up for her. That is called Stockholm Syndrome - the victim falls in love with their tormentor, Gypsy was very dependent on her mother, mainly bc her mother was the only person Gypsy knew. It doesn't matter that DeeDee inflicts misery and pain - emotionally, psychologically, and physically - Gypsy still loved her. Gypsy had no childhood, and that breaks my heart💔❤️🩹
I don’t think we should glorify anyone who has murdered another human being. People don’t ever deserve to die by being murdered. She needs serious help and rehabilitation. It’s sad to see her still using the public. First her mother did it to her and now she’s doing it on her own. Even if it looks different it’s still the same game. This is a great example of the direction this society is going. She’s clearly very sharp and I don’t have any trouble believing that she’s a great manipulator. With that said, her story is most likely valuable for some.

I think you mean it gets your "hackles up", instead of "cackles". And Gypsy suffered greatly in a prison her mother created - suffered 20+ years of psychological, emotional, and physical torture. Gypsy suffered through countless, unwarranted surgeries, forced to take medications she did not need, handcuffed to the bed and forced to wear a dog chain that in turn was attached to her mother. So any movement she made woke her mother to alert her, bc God forbid if Gypsy needed to use the restroom! And I believe that by Gypsy saying she is speaking "her truth", simply means just that - everyone has their opinion on what happened, but no one knows the real truth except Gypsy...

Just a correction, Munchausen syndrome isn't known as conversion disorder (which is now listed as "Functional Neuralgoical Disorder (Conversion Disorder)" in the DSM-5 tr. Those are different disorders, I'm not sure why he said they were the same. Munchausen syndrome is now known as Factitious disorder, and Munchausen by proxy is now known as Factitious disorder imposed on another.
Her voice is creepily "small and innocent" for a 32 year old woman. As a male it makes me feel like she is trying to manipulate but it could also be due to the childhood trauma she suffered.
It’s a complicated situation. What her mom was doing would be the ultimate betrayal and also she’d be the person you are closest to. A lot of people here are quick to ignore all the little details of what life would be like under her mom and then they condemn Gypsy. As someone with actual symptoms I can’t get diagnosed, the gaslighting that a negative diagnostic test here and there causes leaves you in a constant state of frustration and confusion. Why can’t I figure out what this is? Well her mom was deliberately giving her symptoms. It’s effectively the same just that all of her symptoms are artificial. Perpetrated by her mom. That she lives with everyday. Who is actively isolating her from the rest of the world. You would be hopeless. You would think nothing matters because you’ll be dead. And then you find out the person closest has wasted years of your life and wasted your health to create a lie that serves her. She’s done 8 years for killing her mom. Her mom was killing her. Suboxone is NOT just a medication for "Opiate addiction." It's widely used for physical chronic pain, and to alleviate a variety of mental health disorders that aren't controlled by conventional anti-depressants and anti-pyschotics. I'm sick of the stigma and mislabeling of Suboxone in society as being "just another crutch for junkies."
I feel like this was a case of self defense; Gypsy killing her mom, because I suspect Gypsy may have died at her mom's hands. Gypsy endured SO much unnecessary pain. That said, she spent her whole life in this kind of manipulation and coercion and, having spent time in prison rather and potentially not having been given the intensive intervention and therapy she needed,.. could the patterns be repeated? Is she ready and/or prepared.. does she have the skills and capacity to live in a healthy way?

She has said she knows she will be in therapy forever and she knows she need a lot of help. The fact that when Deedee was being killed, she was shouting to Gypsy for help. I find it an interesting moment, because if she was actually sick FOR REAL and wheelchair bound etc, Gypsy wouldn’t have been able to help her. It’s like Deedee in her moment of panic for her life was admitting that Gypsy wasn’t sick and would be able to help her from being murdered. Makes me think if their home was invaded before Gypsy realised she was not sick what would’ve happened. This poor girl was imprisoned by her mother for 22 or 23 years. She suffered extremely. Until you have lived this you have no idea the fear she lived in. She said that when she was in prison, she was free for the first time in her life. She has not been asking fir interviews. Lots of people want to hear her story.

The constant infantilization, for one. And, make no mistake, if Gypsy didn't get out when she did, Dee Dee would have killed her. In the documentary, the family also speculated that Dee Dee killed her own mother and tried to kill her stepmother. (If I remember correctly.) She definitely was an evil person. There's no excuse for what she did.

That doesn’t mean the person condones people with mental illness that don’t have accountability and do nothing to be better, is more a self-explanation to alleviate the pain caused by the person.
When you are a child that is a victim suffering Munchausen By Proxy at the hands of a loved one, in Gypsy's case, her mother - she will always love her mom, she will still unconsciously stick up for her. That is called Stockholm Syndrome - the victim falls in love with their tormentor, Gypsy was very dependent on her mother, mainly bc her mother was the only person Gypsy knew. It doesn't matter that DeeDee inflicts misery and pain - emotionally, psychologically, and physically - Gypsy still loved her. Gypsy had no childhood, and that breaks my heart💔❤️🩹

I don’t think we should glorify anyone who has murdered another human being. People don’t ever deserve to die by being murdered. She needs serious help and rehabilitation. It’s sad to see her still using the public. First her mother did it to her and now she’s doing it on her own. Even if it looks different it’s still the same game. I think you mean it gets your "hackles up", instead of "cackles". And Gypsy suffered greatly in a prison her mother created - suffered 20+ years of psychological, emotional, and physical torture. Gypsy suffered through countless, unwarranted surgeries, forced to take medications she did not need, handcuffed to the bed and forced to wear a dog chain that in turn was attached to her mother. So any movement she made woke her mother to alert her, bc God forbid if Gypsy needed to use the restroom! And I believe that by Gypsy saying she is speaking "her truth", simply means just that - everyone has their opinion on what happened, but no one knows the real truth except Gypsy...

Just a correction, Munchausen syndrome isn't known as conversion disorder (which is now listed as "Functional Neuralgoical Disorder (Conversion Disorder)" in the DSM-5 tr. Those are different disorders, I'm not sure why he said they were the same. Munchausen syndrome is now known as Factitious disorder, and Munchausen by proxy is now known as Factitious disorder imposed on another.

It’s a complicated situation. What her mom was doing would be the ultimate betrayal and also she’d be the person you are closest to. A lot of people here are quick to ignore all the little details of what life would be like under her mom and then they condemn Gypsy. As someone with actual symptoms I can’t get diagnosed, the gaslighting that a negative diagnostic test here and there causes leaves you in a constant state of frustration and confusion. Why can’t I figure out what this is? Well her mom was deliberately giving her symptoms. It’s effectively the same just that all of her symptoms are artificial. Perpetrated by her mom. That she lives with everyday. Who is actively isolating her from the rest of the world. You would be hopeless. You would think nothing matters because you’ll be dead. And then you find out the person closest has wasted years of your life and wasted your health to create a lie that serves her. She’s done 8 years for killing her mom. Her mom was killing her. I just don’t think this one is as simple as she’s an attention seeker and a murder celebrity. She’s certainly not like Casey Anthony in anyway like some of you are saying.

It makes my heart warm to see her now grown, looking well and healthy, and into a proper strong Woman amidst the nightmare she had to endure for the first decades of her life. The fact that she's able to stand strong, and continue to speak out the way she is, is HUGE. That takes a ton of strength and energy to do!
She is pretty and clever and articulate, how awful it must have been for her to be in the prison of her former life. She is trying to catch up on life!!!

I feel like this was a case of self defense; Gypsy killing her mom, because I suspect Gypsy may have died at her mom's hands. Gypsy endured SO much unnecessary pain. That said, she spent her whole life in this kind of manipulation and coercion and, having spent time in prison rather and potentially not having been given the intensive intervention and therapy she needed,.. could the patterns be repeated? Is she ready and/or prepared.. does she have the skills and capacity to live in a healthy way?

He was positive that if DeeDee could trick all those smart doctors that she'd be able to easily trick the police. Seeing this I don't have high hopes for Gypsy. It's not surprising, very very few could come out of her situation unscathed. As far as Deedee is concerned, I am so sick of the munchausens BS. She didn't have munchausens anymore than I do. She was an evil, vicious con artist who used her daughter as a prop to bilk god only knows how much money from people. I have a feeling Gypsy learned quite a bit from mommy dearest and I expect it won't be long till we find out.

Murder is wrong period. However this girl has technically been in prison for about 22 yrs. It started when she was around 5 yrs old. Being tortured mentally, emotionally and physically. She now has to live with her mental and physical issues the rest of her life.

People that grow up in manipulation learn to manipulate. Doesn’t mean they won’t do better when they learn better, is that we learn all we know, if all she had around her was manipulation and lie, that is what she learned, now she learns better things.

She is not all there. She is mentally ill. Just because she is all smiles and talks a lot that does not mean she is happy, or with a sound mind. She needs a lots of mental health help. But she is also trying to survive, so she must to go around with this media tour. Soon we will not hear much about her. She will fade away. With many followers though, but she will go away. I don’t see her with this power for more than a year. Also, America loves the second chance situation. And Gypsy deserves hers. She is lucky to be alive after all the medication she took it and all the medical surgeries. How in the world the doctors did that? I don’t blame only her mother. I can’t get vitamin D without a blood test. My body does not absorb them, so I need the prescription. This is crazy. Even if she was doctor shopping. Gypsy had surgeries without having any problem whatsoever.
@@Heather-Kayrug trauma makes many changes in the brain. I think she has a lot of accountability for a person that is living free for the first time ever. She has said she knows she will be in therapy forever and she knows she need a lot of help. Even there she is telling she works every day to not be like her mom, that shows she is very aware of that possibility, I have faith she will be ok.

The fact that when Deedee was being killed, she was shouting to Gypsy for help. I find it an interesting moment, because if she was actually sick FOR REAL and wheelchair bound etc, Gypsy wouldn’t have been able to help her. It’s like Deedee in her moment of panic for her life was admitting that Gypsy wasn’t sick and would be able to help her from being murdered. Makes me think if their home was invaded before Gypsy realised she was not sick what would’ve happened. She would’ve been powerless because she still believed she couldn’t have done anything except watch/listen to her mother dying from her bed or wheelchair.
I wonder if a case could be made that this was self defence. Her mother was slowly killing her and this was the only way she felt she could break away.
