Thatchers emp lasts longer and has a larger radius of effect. You can obviously use him for getting wall against a bandit kaid or mute but if there’s a kapkan or melusi on your way to site and u need to have your head up looking for enemies you can throw that at the floor and be covered for maybe 20 ish secs
I usually use... L85 and breach charge.. AR 33 is strong as well...... Thatchers emps have a longer disabled time as well as a larger impact radius compared to impact EMP grenades. He is able to disable more devices in a larger radius and for a longer time vs the impact emps.
Easiest thing with Primary vs Secondary gadgets. Always remember Primary’s are bigger and give you more value Secondary’s do a specific thing but not Secondary well. Therm,Ace, Hibanna - All open the wall or hatches Secondary hard breech does that too. But it’s a vault rotate which is a huge disadvantage Buck, Sledge, and Ram - all open the floor each have their own unique way of doing it Breaching charges - do this too but you can get c4ed really easy and you only get three. Thatcher and Kali - both are anti gadget with the design to get the wall open with the hard breech. Thatch disables, Kali destroys Impact emps - blow up on impact and the radius is so small. Where as thatcher emp is huge.
For his primarys it depends what you prefer in a gun, his ar33 has higher fire rate but lower damage, and his L85 has higher damage with a little lower fire rate, I personally run the L85 and claymores. His emp grenade has a larger radius and lasts longer the secondary gadget ones
Thatcher is the original and best EMP operator, due to the larger radius of his EMPs. I tend to use the AR33 and soft breach combo, because I'm optimising for breaching. The former is very smooth to run, but see what works best for you. The latter allows me to maximise the number of angles defenders have to contend with. Stratwise - throw one EMP at the center of the base of the wall that you want to disable. This is different to other smaller standard impact EMPs, because his larger ones don't detonate on impact and you can be less precise. Just remember to throw one grenade to disable the wall, and then a second while the wall is about to be destroyed. This will prevent Bandit and Kaid tricking. P.S. You can also use his device to disable large amount of trap devices, to make it easy for ops like Ash to speed run into site. You can't really do the same with the standard EMPs. Gl and hf
He is a good operator, good weapons, strong to if you have your team working together, say your play chalet and your attack and they go basement with kaid, or bandit he’s probably the best, person to bring if you trying to get main wall
Run the L8 it’s the best overall gun, his emp is basically the same just bigger radius/ he has 3 of them. Your job is support which means u help get wall open. After wall is open u get to drone and help ur team figure out how to attack site
The ar33 is a very solid weapon but so is the L85A2 so test them out in the training grounds for a bit and see what you like. While the shotgun is good it’s not great for most situations. I personally go for the claymore as I think it works in far more maps then the breach charge as thatcher is used 95% for hard breaches so using the breach charge itself will be difficult during a round. But with claymores, putting it on run-out spots or right by the breach can be quite effective.

Use 3rd emp as smoke and plant going down to potentially stop the nitro and smoke canisters being thrown. Claymore for flanks and post plant. Oh, also, be creative! For example, as soon as an emp is thrown on skyscraper balcony someone runs out for the hard breach. Instead of playing into that, use your first emp to bait the run out. So many needles rounds lost cus thatcher wasnt brought ;)

But if you have any spare emp grenades he can be used to disable any gadget that runs on electricity, Aruni gates, mute gadgets, Kapkan traps even the sights on guns. His gadget has a wide radius and doesn’t have to dropped in between a doorway to work it can disable stuff from the other side of a wall
Best support operator in the game he’s a viable pick for any stack he’ll knock out all the gadgets you have to worry about and if your lucky and chuck it in a room somewhere it may even get you a hidden valk game or 2
L85 is perfectly balanced, the AR33 is fun, but has harder recoil, and a smaller mag, so if you often find yourself getting unlucky in fights I'd say go for the L85. The 590 isn't great on attack, especially with his speed, but still fun. I'd say if you're working with hard breachers, go AR33 and play long range, and if you're not go L85.
You don’t have to use thatcher on many bomb sites. Chalet basement, clubhouse cctv, nighthaven top floor, consulate basement are some examples you’d bring a thatcher and there’s honestly maybe 3 more im missing

Thatcher is good with either ar 33 or l8a , all preference as its 31 bullets vs 26 really as damage is not that disinerable from each other, also most people here will say to use them on hard breach, yes, but if you can tey to save 1 or even 2, or even pick him when you have mo hard breach as the usefulness of his emps outside bresching is actually amazing, it allows for an easy rush into a room without worrying about traps (with exclusion of lesion) or even just disabling somethimg thats in your way from you or your team pushing silently or forcefully in.
The larger radius is better bc you usually don’t need to drone for sneaky kaids and mutes you can get 99% of walls without droning bc the radius is so much bigger
Thatcher is great if you are coordinated with a hard breacher like ace or thermite. His gadget works more like a frag than an impact where it rolls before going off, but has a much larger radius than the impact emp. This means it will disable everything on the wall you put it on, allowing the hard breacher to open everything
I'm insane, so I run the 590 12gauge with him. I put myself in very up-close & personal situations in purpose, so I run breach charges; I enjoy making my own way into the site, AND enabling my fellow Thermite/Hibana/Ace players to blow the wall(s) they need to ❤

Thatcher thatcher is a unique operator. You should use one of his 2 ARs along with claymores. To decide which AR you wana use on him, the L8 is a slower firing gun with less recoil while the AR33 is the opposite with a faster fire rate and higher amount of recoil. Also run claymores and try to put them on some of the runouts while getting a wall open. And speaking of getting a wall open make sure when you play thatcher and your hitting a wall that when the hard breacher puts down his or her hard breach that you throw one of his EMP grenades down before and while they are in the animation of deploying their explosives on the wall. Also thatcher is only helpful on certain sites, my recommendation use him on sites where a wall is commonly opened. Ex. Basement on Consolute and basement on Nighthaven. Finally if the defenders are on a site when thatcher is not helpful, Ex. Upstairs skyscraper. Then use Flores or Sledge depending on what gun of Thatcher’s you like more
For the loadout you should typically just not use the shotgun, I use the ar33 but they are both good guns. For the gadget you should use claymores and put them by doors or windows so that nobody runs out and kills you whip you are helping to get the wall open. If you play thatcher but don’t have anyone to get the wall, or they die then you can use thatcher to disable kapkans and thorn traps. A little known fact is that you can disable a persons phone with his ability so they can’t look at cams.

The emp is bigger and can cancel all the regular stuff a emp can but it the thatcher emp can cancel scopes and I don't think regular emps can but if they can it will be impossible almost but it can cancel scopes so but thatcher is mainly ment to cancel wall denial
L58 any day with a 2.5 a flash hider and vertices grip and for a support operator like him claymores are best since he’s typically played with hard breaches hence soft breaching isn’t necessary

For helping a thermite or ace hard breach I would run sombody with EMP as a secondary just because they can do the job just as good as thatcher.
