Should YOU Main a Restoration Shaman in Dragonflight?

- Dragonflight is almost upon us, some classes and specs are in a ready state. Others... Not so much, unfortunately it feels that Restoration Shamans are in the latter! In this video we have a good discussion about the state of Resto Shamans, whilst we do talk about their strengths, the video is predominately focused around the ares where they need to be improved.
Sadly their healing is just not on par with others, if you were to put a Resto Shaman against it's Mail counterpart Preservation Evoker, they would struggle to compete. Where Shamans really shine is in their utility, as their class design has been revamped and it is similar to the totem gameplay you would expect from Wrath Classic, that being said a lot of their amazing totem utility can be picked up by their dps specs so you may find being benched and your dps Shaman being asked to pick up those talents. They still have the incredibly powerful cooldown Spirit Link however this is probably their only real desirable ability and you may find that people will bring stronger healers and "sacrifice" Spirit Link and just be ok.

Are you deciding which healer to pick or which class?
@@BenchwarmerWoW I have been trying to decide which Class. I am leaning to Resto Shaman but have frost mage as my wild card.
@@Keiyen I think my mage might be my wild card. That or my DK. But I know I always end up just levelling all the healers and gearing them haha.
I don't hate the current state, but I feel it's a case of losing some stuff that was great. The borrowed powers have normally felt like they completed the class. That set bonus is such a loss.
Chain heal and healing rain feel underwhelming for me, trying to have fun but it's not working for me, but I haven't played at 70 yet to be fair.
You're absolutely right. I think it will take people time to get used to it. I think that's why they pushed out talents so early to get people used to it. But when we get our tier set at 70 that will change again haha.

@@BenchwarmerWoW I was feeling nostalgic and starting playing classic wrath during prepatch, then figured I'd try some of the newer content. Retail was a bit intimidating to get back into but it's been going well!
@@TheJohnsfz ah yeah good old wrath classic! I made a mage on classic fresh but after clearing everything I needed to come back to retail for Dracthyr. New retail content is a bit scary to get back into but if you have any questions please let me know I can try and help!
@Ryfrost would you say that currently, as it's pre-dragonflight, they are not strong - but as we progress through the new expansion, resto shamans might scale better with additional talents and gear (inc. tier gear)?
I don't know if actually mentioned it. The footage and my review is based off of full ilvl 400 gear with tier set and BiS stats etc. The footage is of that standard. That being said once more testing and statistics are gathered once we are all level 70 it may show the need for a buff. Which is usually what blizzard do before raid release.

Rest shaman is gabage right now. I hope the blizzard will check the feedback and change the specs.
I think they probably will. They usually do make changes and with dragonflight they seem to be on point with feedback
guess im rerollin LOL.... blizz always bends shams over lol
It's a shame it started out as such a promising class. Hopefully shamans will receive some much needed love before season 1 starts!

@@joejojo5966 I always say I will try and stick to one char too, but I always end up with more! Case and point I have 19 level 60s! I have a problem haha
